Exodus 21:7-36
And if a manH376 sellH4376 his daughterH1323 to be a maid-servant, she shall not goH3318 out as the men-servants do. 8If she please not her masterH113, who hath espoused her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemedH6299: to sellH4376 her unto a foreignH5237 peopleH5971 he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealtH898 deceitfully with her. 9And if he espouse her unto his sonH1121, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughtersH1323. 10If he takeH3947 him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish. 11And if he do not these threeH7969 thingsH428 unto her, then shall she goH3318 out for nothing, without moneyH3701.
He that smiteth a manH376, so that he dieth, shall surely be putH4191 to deathH4191. 13And if a man lie not in wait, but GodH430 deliver him into his handH3027; then I will appointH7760 thee a placeH4725 whither he shall fleeH5127. 14And if a manH376 come presumptuouslyH2102 upon his neighborH7453, to slayH2026 him with guile; thou shalt takeH3947 him from mine altarH4196, that he may dieH4191.
And he that smiteth his fatherH1, or his motherH517, shall be surely putH4191 to deathH4191.
And he that stealeth a manH376, and selleth him, or if he be foundH4672 in his handH3027, he shall surely be putH4191 to deathH4191.
And he that curseth his fatherH1 or his motherH517, shall surely be putH4191 to deathH4191.
And if menH376 contendH7378, and oneH376 smite the other with a stoneH68, or with his fistH106, and he dieH4191 not, but keep his bedH4904; 19if he riseH6965 again, and walkH1980 abroad upon his staffH4938, then shall he that smote him be quit: onlyH7535 he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healedH7495.
And if a manH376 smite his servantH5650, or his maid, with a rodH7626, and he dieH4191 under his handH3027; he shall surely be punished. 21Notwithstanding, if he continue a dayH3117 or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his moneyH3701.
And if menH376 strive together, and hurt a womanH802 with childH3206, so that her fruit depart, and yet no harmH611 follow; he shall beH1961 surely fined, according as the woman’sH802 husbandH376 shall lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. 23But if any harmH611 follow, then thou shalt giveH5414 lifeH5315 for lifeH5315, 24eyeH5869 for eyeH5869, toothH8127 for toothH8127, handH3027 for handH3027, footH7272 for footH7272, 25burning for burning, woundH6482 for woundH6482, stripe for stripe.
And if a manH376 smite the eyeH5869 of his servantH5650, or the eyeH5869 of his maid, and destroyH7843 it; he shall let him goH7971 freeH2670 for his eye’s sake. 27And if he smite out his man-servant’s toothH8127, or his maid-servant’s toothH8127, he shall let him goH7971 freeH2670 for his tooth’s sake.
And if an oxH7794 goreH5055 a manH376 or a womanH802 to deathH4191, the oxH7794 shall be surely stonedH5619, and its fleshH1320 shall not be eatenH398; but the ownerH1167 of the oxH7794 shall be quit. 29But if the oxH7794 was wont to gore in time past, and it hath been testifiedH5749 to its ownerH1167, and he hath not keptH8104 it in, but it hath killedH4191 a manH376 or a womanH802; the oxH7794 shall be stonedH5619, and its ownerH1167 alsoH1571 shall be putH4191 to deathH4191. 30If there be laid on him a ransomH3724, then he shall giveH5414 for the redemption of his lifeH5315 whatsoever is laid upon him. 31Whether it have gored a sonH1121, or have gored a daughterH1323, according to this judgmentH4941 shall it be done unto him. 32If the oxH7794 goreH5055 a man-servant or a maid-servant, there shall be givenH5414 unto their masterH113 thirtyH7970 shekelsH8255 of silverH3701, and the oxH7794 shall be stonedH5619.
And if a manH376 shall openH6605 a pitH953, or if a manH376 shall digH3738 a pitH953 and not coverH3680 it, and an oxH7794 or an ass fallH5307 therein, 34the ownerH1167 of the pitH953 shall make it good; he shall give moneyH3701 unto the ownerH1167 thereof, and the deadH4191 beast shall beH1961 his.
And if oneH376 man’sH376 oxH7794 hurt another’s, so that it dieth, then they shall sellH4376 the live oxH7794, and divideH2673 the price of it; and the deadH4191 alsoH1571 they shall divideH2673. 36Or if it beH1961 knownH3045 that the oxH7794 wasH1961 wont to gore in time past, and its ownerH1167 hath not keptH8104 it in; he shall surely payH7999 oxH7794 for oxH7794, and the deadH4191 beast shall beH1961 his own.
