Exodus 12
Revised Version 1895
1And the LORDH3068 spake unto MosesH4872 and AaronH175 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, sayingH559, 2This monthH2320 shall be unto youH8141 the beginningH7218 of monthsH2320: it shall be the firstH7223 monthH2320 of the yearH8141 to youH8141. 3SpeakH1696 ye unto allH3605 the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, In the tenthH6218 dayH2320 of this monthH2320 they shall takeH3947 to them everyH3605 manH376 a lambH7716, accordingH413 to their fathers’H1 housesH1004, a lambH7716 for an householdH1004: 4and ifH518 the householdH1004 be tooH5921 littleH4591 for a lambH7716, then shall he and his neighbour nextH5921 unto his houseH1004 takeH3947 one accordingH5921 to the numberH4373 of the soulsH5315; accordingH5921 to everyH376 man’sH376 eating ye shall makeH4591 your count for the lambH7716. 5Your lambH3532 shall be withoutH8549 blemishH8549, a maleH2145 of the first yearH8141: ye shall takeH3947 it from the sheepH7716, or from the goatsH5795: 6and ye shall keepH4931 it upH5704 untilH5704 the fourteenth dayH3117 of the sameH2088 monthH2320: and the wholeH3605 assemblyH6951 of the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478 shall killH7819 it at evenH5704. 7And they shall takeH3947 of the bloodH1818, and putH5414 it on the twoH8147 side postsH4201 and on the lintelH4947, uponH5921 the housesH1004 whereinH834 they shall eatH398 it. 8And they shall eatH398 the fleshH1320 in that nightH3915, roastH6748 with fireH784, and unleavenedH4682 breadH4682; with bitterH4844 herbsH4844 they shall eatH398 it. 9EatH398 notH408 of it rawH4995, norH408 sodden at allH398 with waterH4325, but roastH6748 with fireH784; itsH398 headH7218 with itsH398 legsH3767 and with the inwards thereof. 10And ye shall letH3808 nothingH3808 of it remainH3498 untilH5704 the morningH1242; but that whichH784 remaineth of it untilH5704 the morningH1242 ye shall burnH8313 with fireH784. 11And thusH3602 shall ye eatH398 it; with your loinsH4975 girdedH2296, your shoesH5275 on your feetH7272, and your staffH4731 in your handH3027: and ye shall eatH398 it in hasteH2649: it is the LORD’SH3068 passoverH6453, 12For I will goH5674 throughH5674 the landH776 of EgyptH4714 in that nightH3915, and will smiteH5221 allH3605 the firstbornH1060 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, bothH3605 manH120 and beastH929; and againstH4714 allH3605 the godsH430 of EgyptH4714 I will execute judgmentsH8201: I am the LORDH3068. 13And the bloodH1818 shall be to youH859 for a token uponH5921 the housesH1004 whereH834 ye are: and when I seeH7200 the bloodH1818, I will passH1961 over youH859, and there shall noH3808 plagueH5063 be uponH5921 youH859 to destroyH5221 youH859, when I smiteH5221 the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 14And this dayH3117 shall be unto youH3117 for a memorialH2146, and ye shall keep it a feastH2282 to the LORDH3068: throughoutH1755 your generationsH1755 ye shall keep it a feastH2282 by an ordinanceH2708 for everH5769. 15SevenH7651 daysH3117 shall ye eatH398 unleavenedH4682 breadH4682; evenH5704 the firstH7223 dayH3117 ye shall put awayH3605 leavenH7603 outH3605 of your housesH1004: for whosoever eateth leavenedH2557 breadH4682 from the firstH7223 dayH3117 untilH5704 the seventhH7637 dayH3117, that soulH5315 shall be cutH3772 offH3772 from IsraelH3478. 16And in the firstH7223 dayH3117 there shall be to youH834 an holyH6944 convocationH4744, and in the seventhH7637 dayH3117 an holyH6944 convocationH4744; noH3808 manner of workH4399 shall be doneH6213 in them, saveH5315 that whichH834 everyH3605 manH5315 mustH3808 eatH398, that onlyH389 may be doneH6213 of youH834. 17And ye shall observeH8104 the feast of unleavenedH4682 breadH4682; for in this selfsame dayH3117 have I broughtH3318 your hostsH6635 outH3318 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714: therefore shall ye observeH8104 this dayH3117 throughoutH1755 your generationsH1755 by an ordinanceH2708 for everH5769. 18In the firstH7223 monthH2320, on the fourteenth dayH3117 of the monthH2320 at evenH5704, ye shall eatH398 unleavenedH4682 breadH4682, untilH5704 the one and twentiethH6242 dayH3117 of the monthH2320 at evenH5704. 19SevenH7651 daysH3117 shall there be noH3808 leavenH7603 foundH4672 in your housesH1004: for whosoever eateth that whichH1931 is leavenedH2557, that soulH5315 shall be cutH3772 offH3772 from the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478, whether he be a sojournerH1616, or one that is bornH3808 in the landH776. 20Ye shall eatH398 nothingH3808 leavenedH2557; in allH3605 your habitationsH4186 shall ye eatH398 unleavenedH4682 breadH4682. 21Then MosesH4872 calledH7121 for allH3605 the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478, and saidH559 unto them, DrawH4900 outH413, and takeH3947 youH3605 lambsH6629 accordingH413 to your familiesH4940, and killH7819 the passoverH6453. 22And ye shall takeH3947 a bunchH92 of hyssopH231, and dipH2881 it in the bloodH1818 that is in the bason, and strikeH5060 the lintelH4947 and the twoH8147 side postsH4201 with the bloodH1818 that is in the bason; and noneH3808 of youH859 shall goH3318 outH3318 of the doorH6607 of his houseH1004 untilH5704 the morningH1242. 23For the LORDH3068 will passH5674 throughH5674 to smiteH5062 the EgyptiansH4714; and when he seeth the bloodH1818 uponH5921 the lintelH4947, and on the twoH8147 side postsH4201, the LORDH3068 will passH5674 over the doorH6607, and will notH3808 sufferH1004 the destroyerH7843 to comeH935 in unto your housesH1004 to smiteH5062 youH5414. 24And ye shall observeH8104 this thingH1697 for an ordinanceH2706 to thee and to thy sonsH1121 for everH5769. 25And it shall comeH935 to passH935, when ye be comeH935 to the landH776 whichH834 the LORDH3068 will giveH5414 youH834, accordingH413 as he hath promisedH1696, that ye shall keepH8104 this serviceH5656. 26And it shall comeH1961 to passH1961, when your childrenH1121 shall sayH559 unto youH3588, WhatH4100 mean ye by this serviceH5656? 27that ye shall sayH559, It is the sacrificeH2077 of the LORD’SH3068 passoverH6453, who passed over the housesH1004 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 in EgyptH4714, when he smoteH5062 the EgyptiansH4714, and deliveredH5337 our housesH1004. And the peopleH5971 bowedH7812 the head and worshipped. 28And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 went and didH6213 soH3651; as the LORDH3068 had commandedH6680 MosesH4872 and AaronH175, soH3651 didH6213 they. 29And it cameH1961 to passH1961 at midnight, that the LORDH3068 smoteH5221 allH3605 the firstbornH1060 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, from the firstbornH1060 of PharaohH6547 that satH3427 on his throneH3678 unto the firstbornH1060 of the captive that was in the dungeon; and allH3605 the firstbornH1060 of cattleH929. 30And PharaohH6547 roseH6965 upH6965 in the nightH3915, he, and allH3605 his servantsH5650, and allH3605 the EgyptiansH4714; and there was a greatH1419 cryH6818 in EgyptH4714; for there was notH369 a houseH1004 whereH834 there was notH369 one deadH4191. 31And he calledH7121 for MosesH4872 and AaronH175 by nightH3915, and saidH559, RiseH6965 upH6965, getH6965 youH859 forthH3318 from among my peopleH5971, bothH1571 ye and the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478; and goH3318, serveH5647 the LORDH3068, as ye have saidH559. 32TakeH3947 bothH1571 your flocksH6629 and your herdsH1241, as ye have saidH1696, and be gone; and blessH1288 meH3947 also. 33And the EgyptiansH4713 were urgent uponH5921 the peopleH5971, to sendH7971 them outH2388 of the landH776 in hasteH4116; for they saidH559, WeH3588 be allH3605 deadH4191 menH5971. 34And the peopleH5971 tookH5375 their doughH1217 beforeH2962 it was leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound upH5375 in their clothesH8071 uponH5921 their shouldersH7926. 35And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 didH6213 according to the wordH1697 of MosesH4872; and they askedH7592 of the EgyptiansH4714 jewelsH3627 of silverH3701, and jewelsH3627 of goldH2091, and raiment: 36and the LORDH3068 gaveH5414 the peopleH5971 favour in the sightH5869 of the EgyptiansH4714, soH5414 that they letH5414 them have what they askedH7592. And they spoiled the EgyptiansH4714. 37And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 journeyedH5265 from RamesesH7486 to SuccothH5523, aboutH5265 sixH8337 hundredH3967 thousandH505 on footH7273 that were menH1121, beside childrenH1121. 38And a mixed multitude wentH5927 upH5927 also with them; and flocksH6629, and herdsH1241, evenH1571 veryH3966 muchH7227 cattleH1241. 39And they bakedH644 unleavenedH4682 cakesH5692 of the doughH1217 whichH834 they broughtH3318 forthH3318 outH3318 of EgyptH4714, for it was notH3808 leavened; becauseH3588 they were thrust outH3318 of EgyptH4714, and couldH3201 notH3808 tarry, neitherH3808 had they preparedH6213 for themselves anyH1571 victual. 40NowH4714 the sojourning of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, whichH834 they sojourned in EgyptH4714, was fourH702 hundredH3967 and thirtyH7970 yearsH8141. 41And it cameH1961 to passH1961 at the endH7093 of fourH702 hundredH3967 and thirtyH7970 yearsH8141, evenH4714 the selfsame dayH3117 it cameH1961 to passH1961, that allH3605 the hostsH6635 of the LORDH3068 wentH3318 outH3318 from the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 42It is a nightH3915 to be muchH3605 observedH8107 unto the LORDH3068 for bringingH3318 them outH3318 from the landH776 of EgyptH4714: this is that nightH3915 of the LORDH3068, to be muchH3605 observedH8107 of allH3605 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 throughoutH3605 their generationsH1755. 43And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto MosesH4872 and AaronH175, This is the ordinanceH2708 of the passoverH6453: there shall noH3808 alien eatH398 thereof: 44but everyH3605 man’sH376 servantH5650 that is boughtH4736 for moneyH3701, when thou hast circumcisedH4135 him, then shall he eatH398 thereof. 45A sojournerH8453 and an hiredH7916 servantH7916 shall notH3808 eatH398 thereof. 46In one houseH1004 shall it be eatenH398; thou shalt notH3808 carryH3318 forthH3318 aught of the fleshH1320 abroadH2351 outH3318 of the houseH1004; neitherH3808 shall ye breakH7665 a boneH6106 thereof. 47AllH3605 the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478 shall keepH6213 it. 48And when a strangerH1616 shall sojourn with thee, and will keepH6213 the passoverH6453 to the LORDH3068, letH1961 allH3605 his malesH2145 be circumcisedH4135, and then letH1961 him comeH1961 nearH7126 and keepH6213 it; and he shall be as one that is bornH3808 in the landH776: but noH3808 uncircumcisedH6189 personH7126 shall eatH398 thereof. 49One lawH8451 shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the strangerH1616 that sojourneth among youH8432. 50ThusH3651 didH6213 allH3605 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478; as the LORDH3068 commandedH6680 MosesH4872 and AaronH175, soH3651 didH6213 they. 51And it cameH1961 to passH1961 the selfsame dayH3117, that the LORDH3068 didH3117 bringH3318 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 outH3318 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714 by their hostsH6635.
