3Now it came to pass, when the kingdomהַמַּמְלָכָ֖הha.mam.la.KhahH4467was establishedחָזְקָ֥הcha.ze.KahH2388to him, that he slewוַֽיַּהֲרֹג֙vai.ya.ha.RogH2026his servantsעֲבָדָ֔יו'a.va.DavH5650that had killedהַמַּכִּ֖יםha.ma.KimH5221the kingהַמֶּ֥לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428his fatherאָבִֽיו׃'a.VivH1.

11And Amaziahוַאֲמַצְיָ֙הוּ֙va.'a.matz.Ya.huH558strengthenedהִתְחַזַּ֔קhit.cha.ZakH2388himself, and led forthוַיִּנְהַג֙vai.yin.HagH5090his peopleעַמּ֔וֹa.MoH5971,and wentH3212to the valleyגֵּ֣יאgei'H1516of saltהַמֶּ֑לַחha.Me.lachH4417,and smoteוַיַּ֥ךְvai.YakhH5221of the childrenבְּנֵי־be.nei-H1121of Seirשֵׂעִ֖ירse.'IrH8165tenעֲשֶׂ֥רֶת'a.Se.retH6235thousandאֲלָפִֽים׃'a.la.FimH505.

12And othertenוַעֲשֶׂ֨רֶתva.'a.Se.retH6235thousandאֲלָפִ֜ים'a.la.FimH505leftaliveחַיִּ֗יםchai.YimH2416did the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063carry away captiveשָׁבוּ֙sha.VuH7617,and broughtוַיְבִיא֖וּםvay.vi.'UmH935them unto the topלְרֹ֣אשׁle.RoshH7218of the rockהַסָּ֑לַעha.Sa.la'H5553,and cast them downוַיַּשְׁלִיכ֛וּםvai.yash.li.KhumH7993from the topמֵֽרֹאשׁ־me.rosh-H7218of the rockהַסֶּ֖לַעha.Se.la'H5553,that they all were broken in piecesנִבְקָֽעוּ׃ סniv.Ka.'uH1234.

13But the soldiersוּבְנֵ֣יu.ve.NeiH1121of the armyהַגְּד֗וּדha.ge.DudH1416which Amaziahאֲמַצְיָ֙הוּ֙'a.matz.Ya.huH558sent backהֵשִׁ֤יבhe.ShivH7725,that they should not goH3212with him to battleלַמִּלְחָמָ֔הla.mil.cha.MahH4421,fellוַֽיִּפְשְׁטוּ֙vai.yif.she.TuH6584upon the citiesבְּעָרֵ֣יbe.'a.ReiH5892of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063,from Samariaמִשֹּׁמְר֖וֹןmi.sho.me.RonH8111even unto Beth–horonH1032,and smoteוַיַּכּ֤וּvai.ya.KuH5221threeשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁתshe.Lo.shetH7969thousandאֲלָפִ֔ים'a.la.FimH505of them, and tookוַיָּבֹ֖זּוּvai.ya.Vo.zuH962muchרַבָּֽה׃ סra.BahH7227spoilבִּזָּ֥הbi.ZahH961.

14Now it came to pass, afterאַחֲרֵ֨י'a.cha.ReiH310that Amaziahאֲמַצְיָ֙הוּ֙'a.matz.Ya.huH558was comeב֤וֹאVo'H935from the slaughterמֵֽהַכּ֣וֹתme.ha.KotH5221of the Edomitesאֲדוֹמִ֔ים'a.do.MimH130,that he broughtוַיָּבֵ֗אvai.ya.Ve'H935the godsאֱלֹהֵי֙'e.lo.HeiH430of the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Seirשֵׂעִ֔ירse.'IrH8165,and set them upוַיַּֽעֲמִידֵ֥םvai.ya.'a.mi.DemH5975to behis godsלֵאלֹהִ֑יםle.lo.HimH430,and bowed downיִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֖הyish.ta.cha.VehH7812himself beforeוְלִפְנֵיהֶ֥םve.lif.nei.HemH6440them, and burned incenseיְקַטֵּֽר׃ye.ka.TerH6999unto them.

15Wherefore the angerאַ֥ף'afH639of Yhwhיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068was kindledוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734against Amaziahבַּאֲמַצְיָ֑הוּba.'a.matz.Ya.huH558,and he sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֤חvai.yish.LachH7971unto him a prophetנָבִ֔יאna.Vi'H5030,which saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Why hast thou soughtדָרַ֙שְׁתָּ֙da.Rash.taH1875after the godsאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971,which could not deliverהִצִּ֥ילוּhi.Tzi.luH5337their own peopleעַמָּ֖ם'a.MamH5971out of thine handמִיָּדֶֽךָ׃mi.ya.De.khaH3027?

17Then Amaziahאֲמַצְיָ֙הוּ֙'a.matz.Ya.huH558kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063took adviceוַיִּוָּעַ֗ץvai.yi.va.'AtzH3289,and sentוַ֠יִּשְׁלַחVai.yish.lachH7971to Joashיוֹאָ֨שׁyo.'AshH3101,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehoahazיְהוֹאָחָ֧זye.ho.'a.ChazH3059,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehuיֵה֛וּאye.Hu'H3058,kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559,ComeH3212,let us see one anotherנִתְרָאֶ֥הnit.ra.'EhH7200in the faceפָנִֽים׃fa.NimH6440.

20But Amaziahאֲמַצְיָ֔הוּ'a.matz.Ya.huH558would not hearשָׁמַ֣עsha.Ma'H8085; for it cameof Godמֵהָֽאֱלֹהִים֙me.ha.'E.lo.HimH430,that he might deliverתִּתָּ֣םti.TamH5414them into the handבְּיָ֑דbe.YadH3027of their enemies,because they soughtדָֽרְשׁ֔וּda.re.ShuH1875after the godsאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of Edomאֱדֽוֹם׃'e.DomH123.

21So Joashיוֹאָ֤שׁyo.'AshH3101the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478went upוַיַּ֨עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927;and they saw one anotherוַיִּתְרָא֣וּvai.yit.ra.'UH7200in the faceפָנִ֔יםfa.NimH6440, bothhe and Amaziahוַאֲמַצְיָ֣הוּva.'a.matz.Ya.huH558kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063,at Beth–shemeshH1053, which belongethto Judahלִיהוּדָֽה׃li.hu.DahH3063.

22And Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063was put to the worseוַיִּנָּ֥גֶףvai.yi.Na.gefH5062beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and they fledוַיָּנֻ֖סוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127every manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376to his tentלְאֹהָלָֽיו׃le.'o.ha.LavH168.
