2Then there cameוַיָּבֹ֗אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935some that toldוַיַּגִּ֤ידוּvai.ya.Gi.duH5046Jehoshaphatלִֽיהוֹשָׁפָט֙li.ho.sha.FatH3092,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559,There comethבָּ֣אba'H935a greatרָ֛בravH7227multitudeהָמ֥וֹןha.MonH1995against thee from beyondמֵעֵ֥בֶרme.'E.verH5676the seaלַיָּ֖םlai.YamH3220on this side Syriaמֵאֲרָ֑םme.'a.RamH758; and, behold, they bein Hazazon–tamarH2688, which isEn–gediH5872.

3And Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֛טye.ho.sha.FatH3092fearedוַיִּרָ֕אvai.yi.Ra'H3372,and setוַיִּתֵּ֧ןvai.yi.TenH5414himselfפָּנָ֖יוpa.NavH6440to seekלִדְר֣וֹשׁlid.Ro.oshH1875Yhwhלַיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068,and proclaimedוַיִּקְרָא־vai.yik.ra'-H7121a fastצ֖וֹםTzomH6685throughoutעַל־'al-H5921all Judahיְהוּדָֽה׃ye.hu.DahH3063.

4And Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063gathered themselves togetherוַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּvai.yi.ka.ve.TzuH6908,to askלְבַקֵּ֖שׁle.va.KeshH1245helpof Yhwhמֵֽיְהוָ֑הme.Yah.wehH3068:even out of all the citiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063they cameבָּ֖אוּBa.'uH935to seekלְבַקֵּ֥שׁle.va.KeshH1245Yhwhיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

5And Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֗טye.ho.sha.FatH3092stoodוַיַּעֲמֹ֣דvai.ya.'a.ModH5975in the congregationבִּקְהַ֧לbik.HalH6951of Judahיְהוּדָ֛הye.hu.DahH3063and Jerusalemוִירוּשָׁלִַ֖םvi.ru.sha.LimH3389,in the houseבְּבֵ֣יתbe.VeitH1004of Yhwhיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,beforeלִפְנֵ֖יlif.NeiH6440the newהַחֲדָשָֽׁה׃ha.cha.da.ShahH2319courtהֶחָצֵ֥רhe.cha.TzerH2691,

8And they dweltוַיֵּשְׁב֖וּ־vai.ye.she.Vu-H3427therein, and have builtוַיִּבְנ֨וּvai.yiv.NuH1129thee a sanctuaryמִקְדָּ֖שׁmik.DashH4720therein for thy nameלְשִׁמְךָ֥le.shim.KhaH8034,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

9If, whenevilרָעָ֗הra.'AhH7451comethתָּב֨וֹאta.Vo'H935upon us, asthe swordחֶרֶב֮che.RevH2719,judgmentשְׁפוֹט֮she.fOtH8196,or pestilenceוְדֶ֣בֶרve.De.verH1698,or famineוְרָעָב֒ve.ra.'AvH7458,we standנַֽעַמְדָ֞הna.'am.DahH5975beforeלִפְנֵ֨יlif.NeiH6440this houseהַבַּ֤יִתha.Ba.yitH1004,and in thy presenceוּלְפָנֶ֔יךָu.le.fa.Nei.khaH6440, (for thy nameשִׁמְךָ֖shim.KhaH8034isin this houseבַּבַּ֣יִתba.Ba.yitH1004,)and cryוְנִזְעַ֥קve.niz.'AkH2199unto thee in our afflictionמִצָּרָתֵ֖נוּmi.tza.ra.Te.nuH6869,then thou wilt hearוְתִשְׁמַ֥עve.tish.Ma'H8085and helpוְתוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃ve.to.Shi.a'H3467.

10And now, behold, the childrenבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Ammonעַמּ֨וֹןa.MonH5983and Moabוּמוֹאָ֜בu.mo.'AvH4124and mountוְהַר־ve.har-H2022Seirשֵׂעִ֗ירse.'IrH8165,whom thou wouldest not letנָתַ֤תָּהna.Ta.tahH5414Israelלְיִשְׂרָאֵל֙le.Yis.ra.'ElH3478invadeלָב֣וֹאla.Vo'H935,when they came outבְּבֹאָ֖םbe.vo.'AmH935of the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָ֑יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,but they turnedסָ֥רוּSa.ruH5493from them, and destroyedהִשְׁמִידֽוּם׃hish.mi.DumH8045them not;

11Behold, I say, howthey rewardגֹּמְלִ֖יםgo.me.LimH1580us, to comeלָבוֹא֙la.Vo'H935to cast us outלְגָ֣רְשֵׁ֔נוּle.Ga.re.She.nuH1644of thy possessionמִיְּרֻשָּׁתְךָ֖mi.ye.ru.sha.te.KhaH3425,which thou hast given us to inheritהֽוֹרַשְׁתָּֽנוּ׃Ho.rash.Ta.nuH3423.

12O our Godאֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙'e.lo.Hei.nuH430,wilt thou not judgeתִשְׁפָּט־tish.pot-H8199them? for we have no mightכֹּ֔חַKo.achH3581againstלִ֠פְנֵיLif.neiH6440this greatהָרָ֛בha.RavH7227companyהֶהָמ֥וֹןhe.ha.MonH1995that comethהַבָּ֣אha.Ba'H935against us; neither knowנֵדַע֙ne.Da'H3045weוַאֲנַ֗חְנוּva.'a.Nach.nuH587what to doנַּעֲשֶׂ֔הna.'a.SehH6213:but our eyesעֵינֵֽינוּ׃'ei.Nei.nuH5869are upon thee.

13And all Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063stoodעֹמְדִ֖ים'o.me.DimH5975beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440Yhwhיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,withגַּם־gam-H1571their little onesטַפָּ֖םta.PamH2945,their wivesנְשֵׁיהֶ֥םne.shei.HemH802,and their childrenוּבְנֵיהֶֽם׃ פu.ve.nei.HemH1121.

14Then upon Jahazielוְיַחֲזִיאֵ֡לve.ya.cha.zi.'ElH3166the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Zechariahזְכַרְיָ֡הוּze.khar.Ya.huH2148,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Benaiahבְּ֠נָיָהBe.na.yahH1141,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jeielיְעִיאֵ֧לye.'i.'ElH3273,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Mattaniahמַתַּנְיָ֛הma.tan.YahH4983,a Leviteהַלֵּוִ֖יha.le.ViH3881of the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Asaphאָסָ֑ף'a.SafH623,came the Spiritר֣וּחַRu.achH7307of Yhwhיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068in the midstבְּת֖וֹךְbe.TokhH8432of the congregationהַקָּהָֽל׃ha.ka.HalH6951;

16To morrowמָחָר֙ma.CharH4279go ye downרְד֣וּre.DuH3381against them: behold, they come upעֹלִ֖ים'o.LimH5927by the cliffבְּמַעֲלֵ֣הbe.ma.'a.LehH4608of Zizהַצִּ֑יץha.TzitzH6732;and ye shall findוּמְצָאתֶ֤םu.me.tza.TemH4672them at the endבְּס֣וֹףbe.SofH5490of the brookהַנַּ֔חַלha.Na.chalH5158,beforeפְּנֵ֖יpe.NeiH6440the wildernessמִדְבַּ֥רmid.BarH4057of Jeruelיְרוּאֵֽל׃ye.ru.'ElH3385.

19And the Levitesהַלְוִיִּ֛םhal.vi.YimH3881,of the childrenבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of the Kohathitesהַקְּהָתִ֖יםha.ke.ha.TimH6956,and of the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of the Korhitesהַקָּרְחִ֑יםha.ka.re.ChimH7145,stood upוַיָּקֻ֧מוּvai.ya.Ku.muH6965to praiseלְהַלֵּ֗לle.ha.LelH1984Yhwhלַיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478with a loudגָּד֖וֹלga.DolH1419voiceבְּק֥וֹלbe.KolH6963on highלְמָֽעְלָה׃le.Ma.'e.lahH4605.

21And when he had consultedוַיִּוָּעַץ֙vai.yi.va.'AtzH3289with the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971,he appointedוַיַּעֲמֵ֤דvai.ya.'a.MedH5975singersמְשֹֽׁרֲרִים֙me.sho.ra.RimH7891unto Yhwhלַיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068,and that should praiseוּֽמְהַֽלְלִ֖יםu.me.ha.LimH1984the beautyלְהַדְרַת־le.had.rat-H1927of holinessקֹ֑דֶשׁKo.deshH6944,as they went outבְּצֵאת֙be.tzeTH3318beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the armyהֶֽחָל֔וּץhe.cha.LutzH2502,and to sayוְאֹֽמְרִים֙ve.'o.me.RimH559,Praiseהוֹד֣וּho.DuH3034Yhwhלַיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068;for his mercyחַסְדּֽוֹ׃chas.DoH2617endurethfor everלְעוֹלָ֖םle.'o.LamH5769.

22And whenוּבְעֵת֩u.ve.'EtH6256they beganהֵחֵ֨לּוּhe.Che.luH2490to singבְרִנָּ֜הve.ri.NahH7440and to praiseוּתְהִלָּ֗הu.te.hi.LahH8416,Yhwhיְהוָ֣ה׀Yah.wehH3068setנָתַ֣ןna.TanH5414ambushmentsמְ֠אָֽרְבִיםMe.'a.re.vimH693against the childrenבְּנֵ֨יbe.NeiH1121of Ammonעַמּ֜וֹןa.MonH5983,Moabמוֹאָ֧בmo.'AvH4124,and mountוְהַר־ve.har-H2022Seirשֵׂעִ֛ירse.'IrH8165,which were comeהַבָּאִ֥יםha.ba.'ImH935against Judahלִֽיהוּדָ֖הli.hu.DahH3063;and they were smittenוַיִּנָּגֵֽפוּ׃vai.yi.na.Ge.fuH5062.

23For the childrenבְּנֵ֨יbe.NeiH1121of Ammonעַמּ֧וֹןa.MonH5983and Moabוּמוֹאָ֛בu.mo.'AvH4124stood upוַ֠יַּֽעַמְדוּVai.ya.'am.duH5975against the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵ֥יyo.she.VeiH3427of mountהַר־har-H2022Seirשֵׂעִ֖ירse.'IrH8165,utterly to slayלְהַחֲרִ֣יםle.ha.cha.RimH2763and destroyוּלְהַשְׁמִ֑ידu.le.hash.MidH8045them:and when they had made an endוּכְכַלּוֹתָם֙u.khe.kha.lo.TamH3615of the inhabitantsבְּיוֹשְׁבֵ֣יbe.yo.she.VeiH3427of Seirשֵׂעִ֔ירse.'IrH8165,every oneאִישׁ־'ish-H376helpedעָזְר֥וּ'a.ze.RuH5826to destroyלְמַשְׁחִֽית׃le.mash.ChitH4889anotherבְּרֵעֵ֖הוּbe.re.'E.huH7453.

24And when Judahוִֽיהוּדָ֛הvi.hu.DahH3063cameבָּ֥אba'H935toward the watch towerהַמִּצְפֶּ֖הha.mitz.PehH4708 H4707in the wildernessלַמִּדְבָּ֑רla.mid.BarH4057,they lookedוַיִּפְנוּ֙vai.yif.NuH6437unto the multitudeהֶ֣הָמ֔וֹןhe.ha.MonH1995, and, behold, they weredead bodiesפְּגָרִ֛יםpe.ga.RimH6297fallenנֹפְלִ֥יםno.fe.LimH5307to the earthאַ֖רְצָה'Ar.tzahH776,and none escapedפְּלֵיטָֽה׃pe.lei.TahH6413.

25And when Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֣טye.ho.sha.FatH3092and his peopleוְעַמּוֹ֮ve.'a.MoH5971cameוַיָּבֹ֨אvai.ya.Vo'H935to take awayלָבֹ֣זla.VozH962the spoilשְׁלָלָם֒she.la.LamH7998of them, they foundוַיִּמְצְאוּ֩vai.yim.tze.'UH4672among them in abundanceלָרֹ֜בla.RoH7230both richesוּרְכ֤וּשׁu.re.KhushH7399with the dead bodiesוּפְגָרִים֙u.fe.ga.RimH6297,and preciousH2532jewelsוּכְלֵ֣יu.khe.LeiH3627,which they stripped offוַיְנַצְּל֥וּvay.na.tze.LuH5337for themselves, more thanלְאֵ֣יןle.'EinH369they could carry awayמַשָּׂ֑אma.Sa'H4853:and they were threeשְׁלוֹשָׁ֛הshe.lo.ShahH7969daysיָמִ֧יםya.MimH3117in gatheringבֹּזְזִ֥יםbo.ze.ZimH962of the spoilהַשָּׁלָ֖לha.sha.LalH7998,it was so muchרַב־rav-H7227.

26And on the fourthהָרְבִעִ֗יha.re.vi.'IH7243dayוּבַיּ֣וֹםu.vai.YomH3117they assembledנִקְהֲלוּ֙nik.ha.LuH6950themselves in the valleyלְעֵ֣מֶקle.'E.mekH6010of Berachahבְּרָכָ֔הbe.ra.KhahH1294;for there they blessedבֵּרֲכ֣וּbe.ra.KhuH1288Yhwhיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068:therefore the nameשֵׁ֨םshemH8034of the same placeהַמָּק֥וֹםha.ma.KomH4725was calledקָֽרְא֞וּka.re.'UH7121,The valleyעֵ֥מֶק'E.mekH6010of Berachahבְּרָכָ֖הbe.ra.KhahH1294,unto this dayהַיּֽוֹם׃hai.YomH3117.

27Then they returnedוַ֠יָּשֻׁבוּVai.ya.shu.vuH7725,every manאִ֨ישׁ'ishH376of Judahיְהוּדָ֤הye.hu.DahH3063and Jerusalemוִֽירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙vi.ru.sha.LimH3389,and Jehoshaphatוִֽיהוֹשָׁפָ֣טvi.ho.sha.FatH3092in the forefrontבְּרֹאשָׁ֔םbe.ro.ShamH7218of them, to go againלָשׁ֥וּבla.ShuvH7725to Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֖םye.ru.sha.LimH3389with joyבְּשִׂמְחָ֑הbe.sim.ChahH8057;for Yhwhיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068had made them to rejoiceשִׂמְּחָ֥םsi.me.ChamH8055over their enemiesמֵֽאוֹיְבֵיהֶֽם׃Me.'oy.vei.HemH341.

28And they cameוַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙vai.ya.Vo.'uH935to Jerusalemיְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םye.Ru.sha.LimH3389with psalteriesבִּנְבָלִ֥יםbin.va.LimH5035and harpsוּבְכִנֹּר֖וֹתu.ve.khi.no.RotH3658and trumpetsוּבַחֲצֹצְר֑וֹתu.va.cha.tzo.tze.RotH2689unto the houseבֵּ֖יתbeitH1004of Yhwhיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

29And the fearפַּ֣חַדPa.chadH6343of Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430was on all the kingdomsמַמְלְכ֣וֹתmam.le.KhotH4467of thosecountriesהָאֲרָצ֑וֹתha.'a.ra.TzotH776,when they had heardבְּשָׁמְעָ֕םbe.sha.me.'AmH8085that Yhwhיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068foughtנִלְחַ֣םnil.ChamH3898against the enemiesאוֹיְבֵ֥י'oy.VeiH341of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.
