Andthe namesוְשֵׁ֣ם׀ve.ShemH8034of his threeשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁתshe.Lo.shetH7969sonsבָּנָ֗יוba.NavH1121whoאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834had goneH1980into the battleבַּמִּלְחָמָ֔הba.mil.cha.MahH4421were Eliabאֱלִיאָ֣ב'e.li.'AvH446the firstbornהַבְּכ֗וֹרha.be.KhorH1060,and secondוּמִשְׁנֵ֙הוּ֙u.mish.Ne.huH4932to him, Abinadabאֲבִ֣ינָדָ֔ב'a.Vi.na.DavH41,and the thirdוְהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֖יve.ha.she.li.ShiH7992,Shammahשַׁמָּֽה׃sha.MahH8048.

14SoDavidוְדָוִ֖דve.da.VidH1732was the youngestהַקָּטָ֑ןha.ka.TanH6996.Now the threeוּשְׁלֹשָׁה֙u.she.lo.ShahH7969oldestהַגְּדֹלִ֔יםha.ge.do.LimH1419followedהָלְכ֖וּ אַחֲרֵ֥יha.le.Khu 'a.cha.ReiH1980 H310Saulשָׁאֽוּל׃ סsha.'UlH7586,

15but Davidוְדָוִ֛דve.da.VidH1732wentH1980backוָשָׁ֖בva.ShavH7725and forthH1980from Saulשָׁא֑וּלsha.'UlH7586to tendלִרְע֛וֹתlir.'otH7462his father’sאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1flockצֹ֥אןtzonH6629at BethlehemH1035.

16And the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖יha.pe.lish.TiH6430cameH5066forwardH5066morningהַשְׁכֵּ֣םhash.KemH7925and eveningוְהַעֲרֵ֑בve.ha.'a.RevH6150,and tookH3320his standוַיִּתְיַצֵּ֖בvai.yit.ya.TzevH3320for fortyאַרְבָּעִ֥ים'ar.ba.'ImH705daysיֽוֹם׃ פYomH3117.

17Then Jesseיִשַׁ֜יyi.ShaiH3448saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to his sonבְּנ֗וֹbe.NoH1121Davidלְדָוִ֣דle.da.VidH1732, “Takeקַח־kach-H3947nowנָ֤אna'H4994for your brothersלְאַחֶ֙יךָ֙le.'a.Chei.khaH251an ephahאֵיפַ֤ת'ei.FatH374of thisהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088roastedH7039grainהַקָּלִיא֙ha.ka.Li'H7039and theseהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088tenוַעֲשָׂרָ֥הva.'a.sa.RahH6235loavesלֶ֖חֶםLe.chemH3899,and runוְהָרֵ֥ץve.ha.RetzH7323to the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖הha.ma.cha.NehH4264to your brothersלְאַחֶֽיךָ׃le.'a.Chei.khaH251.

18Bringתָּבִ֖יאta.Vi'H935also theseהָאֵ֔לֶּהha.'E.lehH428tenעֲשֶׂ֜רֶת'a.Se.retH6235slicesחֲרִצֵ֤יcha.ri.TzeiH2757of cheeseהֶֽחָלָב֙he.cha.LavH2461to the commanderלְשַׂר־le.sar-H8269of theirthousandהָאָ֑לֶףha.'A.lefH505,and lookתִּפְקֹ֣דtif.KodH6485into the well-beingלְשָׁל֔וֹםle.sha.LomH7965of your brothersאַחֶ֙יךָ֙'a.Chei.khaH251and bringתִּקָּֽח׃ti.KachH3947backconfirmationעֲרֻבָּתָ֖ם'a.ru.ba.TamH6161from them.

19For Saulוְשָׁא֤וּלve.sha.'UlH7586and they and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478are in the Valleyבְּעֵ֖מֶקbe.'E.mekH6010of ElahH424,fightingנִלְחָמִ֖יםnil.cha.MimH3898the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃pe.lish.TimH6430.”

20So Davidדָּוִ֜דda.VidH1732gotH7925upH7925earlyוַיַּשְׁכֵּ֨םvai.yash.KemH7925in the morningבַּבֹּ֗קֶרba.Bo.kerH1242and leftוַיִּטֹּ֤שׁvai.yi.ToshH5203the flockהַצֹּאן֙ha.tzoNH6629with a keeperשֹׁמֵ֔רsho.MerH8104,and tookוַיִּשָּׂ֣אvai.yi.Sa'H5375the suppliesand wentוַיֵּ֔לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980as Jesseיִשָׁ֑יyi.ShaiH3448had commandedצִוָּ֖הוּtzi.Va.huH6680him. And he cameוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935to theentrenchmentH4570encirclingH4570the campהַמַּעְגָּ֔לָהha.ma'.Ga.lahH4570while the armyוְהַחַ֗יִלve.ha.Cha.yilH2428was goingH3318outH3318in battleהַמַּ֣עֲרָכָ֔הha.Ma.'a.ra.KhahH4634formationH4634,shoutingH7321theH7321warבַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ba.mil.cha.MahH4421cryוְהֵרֵ֖עוּve.he.Re.'uH7321.

21Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478and the Philistinesוּפְלִשְׁתִּ֔יםu.fe.lish.TimH6430drewH6186upH6186inH6186battleH6186formationH6186,armyמַעֲרָכָ֖הma.'a.ra.KhahH4634againstלִקְרַ֥אתlik.RatH7122armyמַעֲרָכָֽה׃ma.'a.ra.KhahH4634.

22Then Davidדָּוִ֨דda.VidH1732leftוַיִּטֹּשׁ֩vai.yi.ToshH5203thebaggageהַכֵּלִ֜יםha.ke.LimH3627in thecareיַד֙yadH3027of the baggageהַכֵּלִ֔יםha.ke.LimH3627keeperשׁוֹמֵ֣רsho.MerH8104and ranוַיָּ֖רָץvai.Ya.rotzH7323to the battleהַמַּעֲרָכָ֑הha.ma.'a.ra.KhahH4634lineH4634.And he enteredוַיָּבֹ֕אvai.ya.Vo'H935andgreetedוַיִּשְׁאַ֥ל לְשָׁלֽוֹם׃vai.yish.'Al le.sha.LomH7592 H7965his brothersלְאֶחָ֖יוle.'e.ChavH251.

23As he was speakingמְדַבֵּ֣רme.da.BerH1696with them, beholdוְהִנֵּ֣הve.hi.NehH2009,the championאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376 H996,the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֨יha.pe.lish.TiH6430from Gathמִגַּת֙mi.GatH1661namedשְׁמ֤וֹshe.MoH8034Goliathגָּלְיָת֩gal.YatH1555,was comingH5927upH5927from the armyמִמַּעַרְכ֣וֹתmi.ma.'ar.khotH4634of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430,and he spokeוַיְדַבֵּ֖רvay.da.BerH1696theseהָאֵ֑לֶּהha.'E.lehH428same wordsכַּדְּבָרִ֣יםka.de.va.RimH1697;and Davidדָּוִֽד׃da.VidH1732heardוַיִּשְׁמַ֖עvai.yish.Ma'H8085him.

24When allוְכֹל֙ve.KholH3605the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478sawבִּרְאוֹתָ֖םbir.'o.TamH7200the manהָאִ֑ישׁha.'IshH376,they fledוַיָּנֻ֙סוּ֙vai.ya.Nu.suH5127from him and wereH3372veryמְאֹֽד׃me.'OdH3966fearfulH3372.

26Then Davidדָּוִ֗דda.VidH1732saidH559to the menלָאִישׁ֙la.'IshH376who were standingהָעֹמְדִ֣יםha.'o.me.DimH5975by him, “Whatמַה־mah-H4100will be doneיֵּעָשֶׂ֗הye.'a.SehH6213for the manH376whoאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834killsיַכֶּה֙ya.KehH5221thisהַלָּ֔זha.LazH1975Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֣יha.pe.lish.TiH6430and ridsוְהֵסִ֥ירve.he.SirH5493Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478ofthe disgraceחֶרְפָּ֖הcher.PahH2781?For whoמִ֗יMiH4310is thisהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088uncircumcisedהֶֽעָרֵל֙he.'a.RelH6189Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֤יha.pe.lish.TiH6430, that he has dared todefyחֵרֵ֔ףche.RefH2778the armiesמַעַרְכ֖וֹתma.'ar.KhotH4634ofthe livingחַיִּֽים׃chai.YimH2416Godאֱלֹהִ֥ים'E.lo.HimH430?”
