Jeremiah 48:24-41
24againstH5921 1KeriothH7152, BozrahH1224 and allH3605 the citiesH5892 of the landH776 of MoabH4124, farH7350 and nearH7138. 25The 2hornH7161 of MoabH4124 has been cutH1438 offH1438 and his 3armH2220 brokenH7665,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068. 26“4MakeH7937 him drunkH7937, for he has 5becomeH1431 6arrogantH1431 towardH5921 the LordH3068; so MoabH4124 will 7wallowH5606 in his vomitH7006, and he alsoH1571 will becomeH1961 a laughingstockH7814. 27Now was not IsraelH3478 a 8laughingstockH7814 to you? OrH518 was he 910caughtH4672 among thievesH1590? For eachH1767 timeH1767 you speakH1697 about him you 11shakeH5110 your head in scorn.28LeaveH5800 the citiesH5892 and dwellH7931 among the 12cragsH5553, O inhabitantsH3427 of MoabH4124, And be like a 13doveH3123 that nestsH7077 BeyondH5676 the mouthH6310 of the chasmH6354.2914We have heardH8085 of the prideH1347 of MoabH4124--he is veryH3966 proudH1343-- Of his haughtinessH7312, his 15prideH1347, his arroganceH1346 and 16his self-exaltationH3820H7312.30I knowH3045 his 17furyH5678,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068, “But it is futileH3808H3653; His idleH907 boastsH907 have accomplishedH6213 nothingH3808.31ThereforeH5921H3651 I will 18wailH3213 for MoabH4124, Even for allH3605 MoabH4124 will I cryH2199 out; 19I will moanH1897 for the menH376 of 20Kir-heresH7025.32MoreH4480 thanH4480 the 21weepingH1065 for 22JazerH3270 I will weepH1058 for you, O vineH1612 of SibmahH7643! Your tendrilsH5189 stretchedH5674 acrossH5674 the seaH3220, They reachedH5060 to the seaH3220 of JazerH3270; Upon your summerH7019 fruitsH7019 and your grapeH1210 harvestH1210 The destroyerH7703 has fallenH5307.33So 23gladnessH8057 and joyH1524 are takenH622 awayH622 From the fruitfulH3759 fieldH3759, even from the landH776 of MoabH4124. And I have made the wineH3196 to 24ceaseH7673 from the wineH3342 pressesH3342; NoH3808 one will treadH1869 them with shoutingH1959, The shoutingH1959 will not be shoutsH1959 of joy. 3425From the outcryH2201 at HeshbonH2809 even to 26ElealehH500, even to JahazH3096 they have 27raisedH5414 their voiceH6963, from 28ZoarH6820 even to HoronaimH2773 and to Eglath-shelishiyahH5700H7992; for evenH1571 the watersH4325 of NimrimH5249 will becomeH1961 desolateH4923. 35I will makeH7673 an endH7673 of MoabH4124,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068, “the one who offersH5927 sacrifice on the 29highH1116 placeH1116 and the one who 3031burnsH6999 incenseH6999 to his godsH430.
36“ThereforeH5921H3651 My 32heartH3820 33wailsH1993 for MoabH4124 like flutesH2485; My heartH3820 also 34wailsH1993 like flutesH2485 for the menH376 of Kir-heresH7025. ThereforeH5921H3651 they have 35lostH6 the abundanceH3502 it producedH6213. 37For 36everyH3605 headH7218 is baldH7144 and everyH3605 beardH2206 cutH1639 shortH1639; there are gashesH1417 on allH3605 the handsH3027 and 37sackclothH8242 on the loinsH4975. 38On allH3605 the 38housetopsH1406 of MoabH4124 and in its streetsH7339 39thereH3605 is lamentationH4553 everywhereH3605; for I have brokenH7665 MoabH4124 like an undesirableH369H2656 40vesselH3627,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068. 39“HowH349 41shatteredH2865 it is! How they have wailedH3213! HowH349 MoabH4124 has turnedH6437 his backH6203--he is ashamedH954! So MoabH4124 will becomeH1961 a laughingstockH7814 and an 42objectH4288 of terrorH4288 to allH3605 aroundH5439 him.”
40For thusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068: “BeholdH2009, one will 43flyH1675 swiftlyH1675 like an eagleH5404 And 44spreadH6566 out his wingsH3671 againstH413 MoabH4124.41KeriothH7152 has been capturedH3920 And the strongholdsH4679 have been seizedH8610, So the 45heartsH3820 of the mightyH1368 menH1368 of MoabH4124 in that dayH3117 Will be like the heartH3820 of a 46womanH802 in laborH6887.
