Revised Version 1895
Jeremiah 48:24-41
and uponH5921 KeriothH7152, and uponH5921 BozrahH1224, and uponH5921 allH3605 the citiesH5892 of the landH776 of MoabH4124, farH7350 or nearH7138.
The hornH7161 of MoabH4124 is cutH1438 offH1438, and his armH2220 is brokenH7665, saith the LORDH3068.
MakeH1431 ye him drunken; for he magnifiedH1431 himselfH1931 againstH5921 the LORDH3068: and MoabH4124 shall wallowH5606 in his vomitH6892, and he also shall be in derision.
For was notH3808 IsraelH3478 a derision unto thee? was he foundH4672 among thievesH1590? for as oftenH1767 as thou speakest of him, thou waggest the head.
O ye inhabitantsH3427 of MoabH4124, leaveH5800 the citiesH5892, and dwellH3427 in the rockH5553; and be like the doveH3123 that maketh herH1961 nestH7931 in the sidesH5676 of the holes mouthH6310.
WeH8085 have heardH8085 of the prideH1346 of MoabH4124, that he is veryH3966 proudH1343; his loftinessH7312, and his prideH1346, and his arrogancy, and the haughtinessH7312 of his heartH3820.
I knowH3045 his wrathH5678, saith the LORDH3068, that it is nought; his boastings have wrought nothingH3808.
Therefore will I howlH3213 for MoabH4124; yea, I will cryH2199 outH2199 for allH3605 MoabH4124: for the menH376 of Kir-heresH7025 shall they mournH5921.
With moreH5921 thanH5921 the weepingH1065 of JazerH3270 will I weepH1058 for thee, O vineH1612 of SibmahH7643: thy branchesH5189 passedH5674 over the seaH3220, they reachedH5060 evenH5704 to the seaH3220 of JazerH3270: uponH5921 thy summerH7019 fruits and uponH5921 thy vintageH1210 the spoiler is fallenH5307.
And gladnessH8057 and joyH8057 is takenH622 awayH622, from the fruitfulH3759 fieldH3759 and from the landH776 of MoabH4124; and I have caused wineH3196 to ceaseH7673 from the winepressesH3342: noneH3808 shall treadH1869 with shoutingH1959; the shoutingH1959 shall be noH3808 shoutingH1959.
From the cryH2201 of HeshbonH2809 evenH1571 unto ElealehH500, evenH1571 unto JahazH3096 have they utteredH5414 their voiceH6963, from ZoarH6820 evenH1571 unto HoronaimH2773, to Eglath-shelishiyah: for the watersH4325 of NimrimH5249 also shall becomeH1961 desolateH4923.
Moreover I will cause to ceaseH7673 in MoabH4124, saith the LORDH3068, him that offereth in the highH1116 placeH1116, and him that burneth incenseH6999 to his godsH430.
Therefore mine heartH3820 soundeth for MoabH4124 like pipes, and mine heartH3820 soundeth like pipes for the menH376 of Kir-heresH7025: therefore the abundanceH3502 that he hath gotten is perishedH6.
For everyH3605 headH7218 is baldH7144, and everyH3605 beardH2206 clipped: uponH5921 allH3605 the handsH3027 are cuttings, and uponH5921 the loinsH4975 sackclothH8242.
On allH3605 the housetopsH1406 of MoabH4124 and in the streetsH7339 thereof there is lamentationH4553 everyH3605 whereH5921: for I have brokenH7665 MoabH4124 like a vesselH3627 wherein is noH369 pleasureH2656, saith the LORDH3068.
HowH349 is it broken down! howH349 doH3605 they howlH3213! howH349 hath MoabH4124 turnedH6437 the backH6437 with shameH954! soH1961 shall MoabH4124 becomeH1961 a derision and a dismaying to allH3605 that are roundH5439 aboutH1961 him.
For thusH3541 saith the LORDH3068: BeholdH2009, he shall flyH1675 as an eagleH5404, and shall spreadH6566 outH413 his wingsH3671 againstH413 MoabH4124.
KeriothH7152 is takenH3920, and the strongH1368 holds are surprised, and the heartH3820 of the mightyH1368 menH1368 of MoabH4124 at that dayH3117 shall be as the heartH3820 of a womanH802 in herH802 pangs.
