Darby Bible
Amos 5:11-20
Forasmuch, thereforeH3651, as ye trample upon the poorH1800, and takeH3947 from him presents of wheat: ye have builtH1129 housesH1004 of hewnH1496 stoneH1496, but ye shall not dwellH3427 in them; ye have plantedH5193 pleasant vineyardsH3754, and ye shall not drinkH8354 the wineH3196 of them.
For I knowH3045 how manifold are your transgressionsH6588 and your sinsH2403 mightyH6099: they afflict the just, they takeH3947 a bribe, and they turnH5186 asideH5186 [the right of] the needyH34 in the gateH8179.
ThereforeH3651 the prudent shall keep silence in this timeH6256; for it is an evilH7451 timeH6256.
SeekH1875 goodH2896, and not evilH7451, that ye may liveH2421; and soH3651 Jehovah, the 1GodH430 of hostsH6635, shall beH1961 with you, as ye sayH559.
HateH8130 evilH7451, and loveH157 goodH2896, and establish judgmentH4941 in the gateH8179: it may be that Jehovah, the 2GodH430 of hostsH6635, will be gracious unto the remnantH7611 of JosephH3130.
ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah, the 3GodH430 of hostsH6635, the Lord: WailingH5092 shall be in all broadways; and they shall sayH559 in all the streetsH2351, AlasH1930! alasH1930! And they shall callH7121 the husbandman to mourningH60, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailingH5092.
And in all vineyardsH3754 shall be wailingH4553; for I will passH5674 through the midstH7130 of thee, saith Jehovah.
WoeH1945 unto you that desireH183 the dayH3117 of Jehovah! To what end is the dayH3117 of Jehovah for you? It shall be darknessH2822 and not lightH216:
as if a manH376 fledH5127 from a lionH738, and a bearH1677 metH6293 him; or wentH935 into the houseH1004 and leanedH5564 his handH3027 on the wallH7023, and a serpent bit him.
Shall not the dayH3117 of Jehovah be darknessH2822, and not lightH216? even very dark, and no brightnessH5051 in it?
