Amos 9
Darby Bible
1I sawH7200 the LordH136 standingH5324 upon the altarH4196; and he saidH559, Smite the chapiter that the thresholdsH5592 may shakeH7493; and break all of them in pieces, in the headH7218; and I will slayH2026 the last of them with the swordH2719: he that fleeth of them shall not get away by flight, and he that escapeth of them shall not be deliveredH4422. 2Though they digH2864 into SheolH7585, thence shall my handH3027 takeH3947 them; and though they climb up to the heavensH8064, thence will I bringH5927 them downH3381; 3and though they hideH5641 themselves on the topH7218 of CarmelH3760, I will searchH2664 and takeH3947 them out thence; and though they be hidH5641 from my sight in the bottom of the seaH3220, there will I commandH6680 the serpent, and it shall bite them; 4and though they go into captivityH7628 before their enemiesH341, there will I commandH6680 the swordH2719, and it shall slayH2026 them: and I will setH7760 mine eyesH5869 upon them for evilH7451, and not for goodH2896. 5And the LordH136 Jehovah of hostsH6635 is he that toucheth the landH776, and it melteth, and all that dwellH3427 therein shall mournH56; and it shall wholly rise up like the Nile, and sinkH8257 down as the riverH2975 of EgyptH4714. 6It is he that buildeth his upper chambers in the heavensH8064, and hath foundedH3245 his vault upon the earthH776; he that calleth for the watersH4325 of the seaH3220, and poureth them out upon the faceH6440 of the earthH776: Jehovah is his nameH8034. 7Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of IsraelH3478? saith Jehovah. Have not I broughtH5927 up IsraelH3478 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714? and the PhilistinesH6430 from CaphtorH3731, and the Syrians from KirH7024? 8Behold, the eyesH5869 of the Lord Jehovah are upon the sinfulH2400 kingdomH4467, and I will destroyH8045 it from off the faceH6440 of the earthH127: onlyH657 that I will not utterly destroyH8045 the houseH1004 of JacobH3290, saith Jehovah. 9For behold, I commandH6680, and I will shakeH5128 the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 to and fro among all the nationsH1471, like as one shaketh [corn] in a sieve; yet shall not the least grain fallH5307 upon the earthH776. 10All the sinnersH2400 of my peopleH5971 shall dieH4191 by the swordH2719, who sayH559, EvilH7451 shall not overtake nor befall us. 11In that dayH3117 will I raiseH6965 up the tabernacle of DavidH1732 which is fallenH5307, and close up the breachesH6556 thereof; and I will raiseH6965 up its ruins, and I will buildH1129 it as in the daysH3117 of old: 12that they may possessH3423 the remnantH7611 of EdomH123, and all the nationsH1471 upon whom my nameH8034 is calledH7121, saith Jehovah who doeth this. 13Behold, the daysH3117 comeH935, saith Jehovah, when the ploughman shall overtake the reaper, and the treaderH1869 of grapes him that soweth seedH2233; and the mountainsH2022 shall drop new wineH6071, and all the hillsH1389 shall meltH4127. 14And I will turnH7725 again the captivityH7622 of my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, and they shall buildH1129 the waste citiesH5892, and inhabitH3427 them; and they shall plantH5193 vineyardsH3754, and drinkH8354 the wineH3196 thereof; and they shall makeH6213 gardensH1593, and eatH398 the fruitH6529 of them. 15And I will plantH5193 them upon their landH127, and they shall no more be pluckedH5428 up out of their landH127 which I have givenH5414 them, saith Jehovah thy 1GodH430.
