Revised Version 1895
Amos 5:11-20
Forasmuch therefore as ye trample uponH5921 the poorH1800, and takeH3947 exactions from him of wheatH1250: ye have builtH1129 housesH1004 of hewnH1496 stoneH1496, but ye shall notH3808 dwellH3427 in them; ye have plantedH5193 pleasantH2531 vineyardsH3754, but ye shall notH3808 drinkH8354 the wineH3196 thereof.
For I knowH3045 howH3588 manifold are your transgressionsH6588, and howH3588 mightyH6099 are your sinsH2403; ye that afflict the justH6662, that takeH3947 a bribeH3724, and that turnH5186 asideH5186 the needyH34 in the gateH8179 from their rightH6662.
Therefore he that is prudent shall keep silence in suchH3651 a time; for it is an evilH7451 time.
SeekH1875 goodH2896, and notH408 evilH7451, that ye may liveH2421: and soH3651 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of hostsH6635, shall be with youH834, as ye sayH559.
HateH8130 the evilH7451, and loveH157 the goodH2896, and establishH3322 judgmentH4941 in the gateH8179: it may be that the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of hostsH6635, will be gracious unto the remnantH7611 of JosephH3130.
Therefore thusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of hostsH6635, the LordH3068: WailingH5092 shall be in allH3605 the broad ways; and they shall sayH559 in allH3605 the streetsH2351, AlasH1930! alasH1930! and they shall callH7121 the husbandman to mourningH60, and suchH3651 as are skilful of lamentationH4553 to wailingH5092.
And in allH3605 vineyardsH3754 shall be wailingH4553: for I will passH5674 throughH5674 the midstH7130 of thee, saith the LORDH3068.
WoeH1945 unto youH3117 that desireH183 the dayH3117 of the LORDH3068! wherefore would ye have the dayH3117 of the LORDH3068? it is darknessH2822, and notH3808 lightH216.
As ifH834 a manH376 didH834 fleeH5127 from a lionH738, and a bearH1677 metH6293 him; or wentH935 intoH935 the houseH1004 and leanedH5564 his handH3027 on the wallH7023, and a serpentH5175 bit him.
Shall notH3808 the dayH3117 of the LORDH3068 be darknessH2822, and notH3808 lightH216? evenH3808 very darkH2822, and noH3808 brightnessH5051 in it?
