Amos 5:11-20
Forasmuch thereforeH3651 as ye trample upon the poorH1800, and takeH3947 exactions from him of wheat: ye have builtH1129 housesH1004 of hewnH1496 stoneH1496, but ye shall not dwellH3427 in them; ye have plantedH5193 pleasant vineyardsH3754, but ye shall not drinkH8354 the wineH3196 thereof. 12For I knowH3045 how manifold are your transgressionsH6588, and how mightyH6099 are your sinsH2403—ye that afflict the just, that takeH3947 a bribe, and that turnH5186 asideH5186 the needyH34 in the gateH8179 from their right. 13ThereforeH3651 he that is prudent shall keep silence in such a timeH6256; for it is an evilH7451 timeH6256.
SeekH1875 goodH2896, and not evilH7451, that ye may liveH2421; and soH3651 Jehovah, the GodH430 of hostsH6635, will beH1961 with you, as ye sayH559. 15HateH8130 the evilH7451, and loveH157 the goodH2896, and establish justiceH4941 in the gateH8179: it may be that Jehovah, the GodH430 of hostsH6635, will be gracious unto the remnantH7611 of JosephH3130.
ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah, the GodH430 of hostsH6635, the Lord: WailingH5092 shall be in all the broad ways; and they shall sayH559 in all the streetsH2351, AlasH1930! alasH1930! and they shall callH7121 the husbandman to mourningH60, and such as are skilful in lamentation to wailingH5092. 17And in all vineyardsH3754 shall be wailingH4553; for I will passH5674 through the midstH7130 of thee, saith Jehovah.
WoeH1945 unto you that desireH183 the dayH3117 of Jehovah! Wherefore would ye have the dayH3117 of Jehovah? It is darknessH2822, and not lightH216. 19As if a manH376 did fleeH5127 from a lionH738, and a bearH1677 metH6293 him; or wentH935 into the houseH1004 and leanedH5564 his handH3027 on the wallH7023, and a serpent bit him. 20Shall not the dayH3117 of Jehovah be darknessH2822, and not lightH216? even very dark, and no brightnessH5051 in it?
