Deuteronomy 9:13-29

13The LORDH3068 also saidH559 to meH413H559, “I have seenH7200 thisH2088 peopleH5971, and theyH1931 are indeedH2009 a stiff-neckedH7186H6203 peopleH5971. 14Leave Me aloneH7503, so that I may destroy themH8045 and blot outH4229 their nameH8034 fromH4480 underH8478 heavenH8064. Then I will makeH6213 you into a nationH1471 mightierH6099 and greaterH7227 than theyH4480 are.”

15So I went backH6437 downH3381H4480 the mountainH2022 while itH2022 was blazingH1197 with fireH784, with the twoH8147 tabletsH3871 of the covenantH1285 inH5921H8147 my handsH3027. 16And I sawH7200 howH2009 you had sinnedH2398 against the LORDH3068 your GodH430; you had madeH6213 for yourselves a moltenH4541 calfH5695. You had turned asideH5493 quicklyH4118 fromH4480 the wayH1870 thatH834 the LORDH3068 had commanded youH6680. 17So I tookH8610 the twoH8147 tabletsH3871 and threw themH7993 out ofH5921H8147 my handsH3027, shattering themH7665 before your eyesH5869.

18Then I fell downH5307 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 for fortyH705 daysH3117 and fortyH705 nightsH3915, as I had done the first timeH7223. I did notH3808 eatH398 breadH3899 or drinkH8354 waterH4325H3808 because ofH5921 allH3605 the sinH2403 you had committedH2398 in doingH6213 what was evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068 and provoking Him to angerH3707. 19ForH3588 I was afraidH3025H64401 of the angerH639 and wrathH2534 thatH834 the LORDH3068 had directedH7107 against youH5921, enough to destroy youH8045. But the LORDH3068 listenedH8085 to meH413 thisH1931 timeH6471 as wellH1571.

20The LORDH3068 was angryH599 enoughH3966 with AaronH175 to destroy himH8045, but at thatH1931 timeH6256 I alsoH1571 prayedH6419 forH1157 AaronH175. 21AndH853 I tookH3947 thatH834 sinful thingH2403, the calfH5695 you had madeH6213, and burnedH8313 itH853 in the fireH784. Then I crushed itH3807 and groundH2912 it toH5704 powderH1854 as fine as dustH6083, and I castH7993 itH6083 intoH413 the streamH5158 that came downH3381 fromH4480 the mountainH2022.

22You continued to provokeH7107H1961 the LORDH3068 at TaberahH8404,2 at MassahH4532,3 and at Kibroth-hattaavahH6914.4 23And when the LORDH3068 sent you outH7971H6947 from Kadesh-barneaH6947, He saidH559, “Go upH5927 and possessH3423 the landH776 thatH834 I have givenH5414 you.”

But you rebelledH4784 against the commandH6310 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430. You neitherH3808 believedH539 Him norH3808 obeyedH8085 HimH6963. 24You have beenH1961 rebellingH4784 againstH5973 the LORDH3068 since the dayH3117 I came to know youH3045. 25So I fell downH5307 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 for fortyH705 daysH3117 andH853 fortyH705 nightsH3915, becauseH3588 the LORDH3068 had saidH559 He would destroyH8045 youH853.

26And I prayedH6419 toH413 the LORDH3068 and saidH559, “O LordH136 GODH3069, do notH408 destroyH7843 Your peopleH5971, Your inheritanceH5159, whomH834 You redeemedH6299 through Your greatnessH1433 and brought outH3318 of EgyptH4714 with a mightyH2389 handH3027. 27RememberH2142 Your servantsH5650 AbrahamH85, IsaacH3327, and JacobH3290. OverlookH408H6437H413 the stubbornnessH7190 of thisH2088H413 peopleH5971 and the wickednessH7562H413 of their sinH2403. 28OtherwiseH6435, those in the landH776 from whichH834 You brought us outH3318H8033 will sayH559, ‘Because the LORDH3068 was notH1097 ableH3201 to bring themH935 intoH413 the landH776 He had promisedH1696 them, and because He hatedH8135 themH853, He has brought them outH3318 to kill themH4191 in the wildernessH4057.’ 29But theyH1992 are Your peopleH5971, Your inheritanceH5159, whomH834 You brought outH3318 by Your greatH1419 powerH3581 and outstretchedH5186 armH2220.”
