Deuteronomy 9:13-29
13The 1LordH3068 spokeH559 further to me, sayingH559, ‘I have seenH7200 thisH2088 peopleH5971, and indeedH2009, it is a 23stubbornH7186H6203 peopleH5971. 144LetH7503 Me aloneH4480H7503, that I may destroyH8045 them and 5blotH4229 out their nameH8034 from underH8478 heavenH8064; and I will makeH6213 of you a nationH1471 mightierH6099 and greaterH7227 thanH4480 they.’
15“6So I turnedH6437 and cameH3381 downH3381 from the mountainH2022 while the mountainH2022 was burningH1197 with fireH784, and the twoH8147 tabletsH3871 of the covenantH1285 were in my twoH8147 handsH3027. 16And I sawH7200 that you had indeedH2009 sinnedH2398 against the LordH3068 your GodH430. You had madeH6213 for yourselves a moltenH4541 calfH5695; you had turnedH5493 asideH5493 quicklyH4118 from the wayH1870 whichH834 the LordH3068 had commandedH6680 you. 17I tookH8610 holdH8610 of the twoH8147 tabletsH3871 and threwH7993 them from my handsH3027 and smashedH7665 them before your eyesH5869. 187I fellH5307 downH5307 beforeH6440 the LordH3068, 8as at the firstH7223, fortyH705 daysH3117 and nightsH3915; 9I neitherH3808 ateH398 breadH3899 norH3808 drankH8354 waterH4325, 10becauseH5921 of allH3605 your sinH2403 whichH834 you had committedH2398 in doingH6213 whatH7451 was evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LordH3068 to provokeH3707 Him to angerH3707. 19For 11I was afraidH3025 of the angerH639 and hotH2534 displeasureH2534 with whichH834 the LordH3068 was wrathfulH7107 againstH5921 you in order to destroyH8045 you, 12but the LordH3068 listenedH8085 to me that timeH6471 alsoH1571. 20The LordH3068 was angryH599 enoughH3966 with AaronH175 to destroyH8045 him; so I alsoH1571 prayedH6419 for AaronH175 at the sameH1931 timeH6256. 2113I tookH3947 your 14sinfulH2403 thing, the calfH5695 whichH834 you had madeH6213, and burnedH8313 it with fireH784 and crushedH3807 it, grindingH2912 it veryH3190 smallH3190 untilH5704H834 it was as fineH1854 as dustH6083; and I threwH7993 its dustH6083 into the brookH5158 that cameH3381 downH3381 from the mountainH2022.
22“Again at 15TaberahH8404 and at 16MassahH4532 and at 17Kibroth-hattaavahH6914 you provokedH7107 the LordH3068 to wrathH7107. 23When the LordH3068 sentH7971 you from 18Kadesh-barneaH6947, sayingH559, ‘19GoH5927 up and possessH3423 the landH776 whichH834 I have givenH5414 you,’ then you rebelledH4784 againstH854 the 20commandH6310 of the LordH3068 your GodH430; 21you neitherH3808 believedH539 Him norH3808 listenedH8085 to His voiceH6963. 2422You have beenH1961 rebelliousH4784 againstH5973 the LordH3068 from the dayH3117 I knewH3045 you.
25“23So I fellH5307 downH5307 beforeH6440 the LordH3068 the fortyH705 daysH3117 and nightsH3915, whichH834 I 24didH5307 becauseH3588 the LordH3068 had saidH559 He would destroyH8045 you. 2625I prayedH6419 to the LordH3068 and saidH559, ‘O LordH136 GodH3068, do not destroyH7843 Your peopleH5971, even Your inheritanceH5159, whomH834 You have redeemedH6299 through Your greatnessH1433, whomH834 You have broughtH3318 out of EgyptH4714 with a mightyH2389 handH3027. 27RememberH2142 Your servantsH5650, AbrahamH85, IsaacH3327, and JacobH3290; do not lookH6437 at the stubbornnessH7190 of thisH2088 peopleH5971 or at their wickednessH7562 or their sinH2403. 28OtherwiseH6435 the landH776 from whichH834 You broughtH3318 us may sayH559, “26BecauseH4480H1097 the LordH3068 was not ableH3201 to bringH935 them into the landH776 whichH834 He had 27promisedH1696 them and becauseH4480 He hatedH8135 them He has broughtH3318 them out to slayH4191 them in the wildernessH4057.” 29Yet they are Your peopleH5971, even 28Your inheritanceH5159, whomH834 You have broughtH3318 out by Your 29greatH1419 powerH3581 and Your outstretchedH5186 armH2220.’
