5Do you notהֲלֹ֤אha.Lo'H3808knowלָדַ֔עַתla.Da.'atH3045thatכִּ֞יkiH3588the LORDיְהוָ֣ה׀Yah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,has givenנָתַ֨ןna.TanH5414the kingshipמַמְלָכָ֧הmam.la.KhahH4467ofעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478to Davidלְדָוִ֛ידle.da.VidH1732and his descendantsוּלְבָנָ֖יוu.le.va.NavH1121foreverלְעוֹלָ֑םle.'o.LamH5769by a covenantבְּרִ֥יתbe.RitH1285of saltמֶֽלַח׃ סMe.lachH4417?
6Yet Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֣םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nebatנְבָ֔טne.VatH5028,a servantעֶ֖בֶד'E.vedH5650of Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֣הshe.lo.MohH8010sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Davidדָּוִ֑ידda.VidH1732,rose upוַיָּ֙קָם֙vai.Ya.komH6965and rebelledוַיִּמְרֹ֖דvai.yim.RodH4775againstעַל־'al-H5921his masterאֲדֹנָֽיו׃'a.do.NavH113.
7Then worthlessרֵקִים֙re.KimH7386and wickedבְלִיַּ֔עַלve.li.Ya.'alH1100menבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121gatheredוַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּvai.yi.ka.ve.TzuH6908around himעָלָ֗יו אֲנָשִׁ֤ים'a.Lav 'a.na.ShimH5921H582to resistוַיִּֽתְאַמְּצ֖וּ עַל־vai.yit.'a.me.Tzu 'al-H553H5921Rehoboamרְחַבְעָ֣םre.chav.'AmH7346sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֑הshe.lo.MohH8010whenוּרְחַבְעָ֗םu.re.chav.'AmH7346hewasהָ֤יָהHa.yahH1961youngנַ֙עַר֙na.'arH5288,inexperiencedוְרַךְ־ לֵבָ֔בve.rakh- le.VavH7390H3824,and unableוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808to resistהִתְחַזַּ֖קhit.cha.ZakH2388themלִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃lif.nei.HemH6440.
8And nowוְעַתָּ֣ה׀ve.'a.TahH6258youאַתֶּ֣ם'a.TemH859thinkאֹֽמְרִ֗ים'o.me.RimH559you can resistלְהִתְחַזֵּק֙ לִפְנֵי֙le.hit.cha.Zek lif.NeiH2388H6440the kingdomמַמְלֶ֣כֶתmam.Le.khetH4467of the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,which is in the handsבְּיַ֖דbe.YadH3027of David’sדָוִ֑ידda.VidH1732descendantsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121.Youוְאַתֶּם֙ve.'a.TemH859are indeed a vastרָ֔בRavH7227armyהָמ֣וֹןha.MonH1995,and you have with youוְעִמָּכֶם֙ve.'i.ma.KhemH5973the goldenזָהָ֔בza.HavH2091calvesעֶגְלֵ֣י'eg.LeiH5695thatאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֖םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379madeעָשָׂ֥ה'a.SahH6213for youas godsלֵאלֹהִֽים׃le.lo.HimH430.

10But as for usוַאֲנַ֛חְנוּva.'a.Nach.nuH587,the LORDיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068is our Godאֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430.We have notוְלֹ֣אve.Lo'H3808forsaken Himעֲזַבְנֻ֑הוּ'a.zav.Nu.huH5800;the priestsוְכֹ֨הֲנִ֜יםve.Kho.ha.NimH3548who ministerמְשָׁרְתִ֤יםme.sha.re.TimH8334to the LORDלַֽיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068aresonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175,and the Levitesוְהַלְוִיִּ֖םve.hal.vi.YimH3881attendto their dutiesבַּמְלָֽאכֶת׃bam.La.khetH4399.

12Now beholdוְהִנֵּה֩ve.hi.NehH2009,God Himself isהָאֱלֹהִ֧ים׀ha.'E.lo.HimH430with usעִמָּ֨נוּ'i.Ma.nuH5973as our headבָרֹ֜אשׁva.RoshH7218,and His priestsוְכֹהֲנָ֛יוve.kho.ha.NavH3548with their trumpetsוַחֲצֹצְר֥וֹתva.cha.tzo.tze.RotH2689soundלְהָרִ֣יעַle.ha.Ri.a'H7321the battle callהַתְּרוּעָ֖הha.te.ru.'AhH8643against youעֲלֵיכֶ֑ם'a.lei.KhemH5921.O childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,do notאַל־'al-H408fightתִּלָּֽחֲמ֛וּti.la.cha.MuH3898againstעִם־'im-H5973the LORDיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵֽי־'e.lo.hei-H430of your fathersאֲבֹתֵיכֶ֖ם'a.vo.tei.KhemH1,forכִּי־ki-H3588you will notלֹ֥אlo'H3808succeedתַצְלִֽיחוּ׃tatz.Li.chuH6743.”
13Now Jeroboamוְיָֽרָבְעָ֗םve.ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379had sentלָב֖וֹאla.Vo'H935troopsaroundהֵסֵב֙he.SevH5437אֶת־'et-H853to ambushהַמַּאְרָ֔בha.ma'.RavH3993from the rearמֵֽאַחֲרֵיהֶ֑םme.'a.cha.rei.HemH310,so that while he wasוַיִּֽהְיוּ֙vai.yih.YuH1961in frontלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063,the ambushוְהַמַּאְרָ֖בve.ha.ma'.RavH3993was behind themמֵאַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃me.'a.cha.rei.HemH310.
14When Judahיְהוּדָ֗הye.hu.DahH3063turnedוַיִּפְנ֣וּvai.yif.NuH6437and discoveredוְהִנֵּ֨הve.hi.NehH2009that the battleהַמִּלְחָמָה֙ha.mil.cha.MahH4421was bothbeforeפָּנִ֣יםpa.NimH6440and behind themוְאָח֔וֹרve.'a.ChorH268,they cried outוַֽיִּצְעֲק֖וּvai.yitz.'a.KuH6817to the LORDלַיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068.Then the priestsוְהַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔יםve.ha.Ko.ha.NimH3548blewמַחְצְרִ֖יםma.cha.tzo.tze.rimH2690the trumpetsבַּחֲצֹצְרֽוֹת׃ba.cha.tzo.tze.RotH2689,
15and the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Judahיְהוּדָ֑ה וַיְהִ֗יye.hu.Dah vay.HiH3063H1961raised the battle cryוַיָּרִ֖יעוּvai.ya.Ri.'uH7321.And whenאִ֣ישׁ יְהוּדָ֔ה'ish ye.hu.DahH376H3063theyraised the cryבְּהָרִ֙יעַ֙be.ha.Ri.a'H7321,Godוְהָאֱלֹהִ֗יםve.ha.'E.lo.HimH430routedנָגַ֤ףna.GafH5062אֶת־'et-H853Jeroboamיָֽרָבְעָם֙ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440Abijahאֲבִיָּ֖ה'a.vi.YahH29and Judahוִיהוּדָֽה׃vi.hu.DahH3063.
