2 Samuel 7

1And it came to pass, when the kingH4428 dweltH3427 in his houseH1004, and Jehovah had givenH5117 him restH5117 from all his enemiesH341 roundH5439 about, 2that the kingH4428 saidH559 unto NathanH5416 the prophetH5030, SeeH7200 now, I dwellH3427 in a houseH1004 of cedarH730, but the arkH727 of GodH430 dwelleth within curtainsH3407. 3And NathanH5416 saidH559 to the kingH4428, Go, do all that is in thy heartH3824; for Jehovah is with thee. 4And it came to pass the same nightH3915, that the wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto NathanH5416, sayingH559, 5Go and tell my servantH5650 DavidH1732, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, Shalt thou buildH1129 me a houseH1004 for me to dwellH3427 in? 6for I have not dweltH3427 in a houseH1004 since the dayH3117 that I broughtH5927 up the children of IsraelH3478 out of EgyptH4714, even to this dayH3117, but have walkedH1980 in a tentH168 and in a tabernacleH4908. 7In all places wherein I have walkedH1980 with all the children of IsraelH3478, spake I a wordH1697 with any of the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, whom I commandedH6680 to be shepherdH7462 of my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, sayingH559, WhyH4100 have ye not builtH1129 me a houseH1004 of cedarH730? 8NowH6258 thereforeH6258 thusH3541 shalt thou sayH559 unto my servantH5650 DavidH1732, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, I tookH3947 thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheepH6629, that thou shouldest beH1961 princeH5057 over my peopleH5971, over IsraelH3478; 9and I have beenH1961 with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cutH3772 off all thine enemiesH341 from before thee; and I will makeH6213 thee a greatH1419 nameH8034, like unto the nameH8034 of the greatH1419 ones that are in the earthH776. 10And I will appointH7760 a placeH4725 for my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, and will plantH5193 them, that they may dwellH7931 in their own placeH4725, and be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflictH6031 them any more, as at the firstH7223, 11and as from the dayH3117 that I commandedH6680 judgesH8199 to be over my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478; and I will cause thee to restH5117 from all thine enemiesH341. Moreover Jehovah telleth thee that Jehovah will makeH6213 thee a houseH1004. 12When thy daysH3117 are fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathersH1, I will setH6965 up thy seedH2233 after thee, that shall proceed out of thy bowelsH4578, and I will establishH6965 his kingdomH4467. 13He shall buildH1129 a houseH1004 for my nameH8034, and I will establishH3559 the throneH3678 of his kingdomH4467 for everH5769. 14I will beH1961 his fatherH1, and he shall beH1961 my sonH1121: if he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rodH7626 of menH376, and with the stripes of the children of menH376; 15but my lovingkindness shall not departH5493 from him, as I took it from SaulH7586, whom I put awayH5493 before thee. 16And thy houseH1004 and thy kingdomH4467 shall beH1961 made sure for everH5769 before thee: thy throneH3678 shall beH1961 establishedH3559 for everH5769. 17According to all these wordsH1697, and according to all this visionH2384, soH3651 did NathanH5416 speakH1696 unto DavidH1732.

18Then DavidH1732 the kingH4428 wentH935 in, and satH3427 before Jehovah; and he saidH559, Who am I, O Lord Jehovah, and what is my houseH1004, that thou hast broughtH935 me thus far? 19And this was yetH5750 a smallH6994 thing in thine eyesH5869, O LordH136 Jehovah; but thou hast spokenH1696 alsoH1571 of thy servant’sH5650 houseH1004 for a great while to come; and this too after the manner of menH120, O LordH136 Jehovah! 20And what can DavidH1732 sayH1696 more unto thee? for thou knowest thy servantH5650, O LordH136 Jehovah. 21For thy word’s sakeH5668, and according to thine own heartH3820, hast thou wrought all this greatnessH1420, to makeH6213 thy servantH5650 knowH3045 it. 22Wherefore thou art greatH1431, O Jehovah GodH430: for there is none like thee, neither is there any GodH430 besides thee, according to all that we have heardH8085 with our earsH241. 23And what oneH259 nationH1471 in the earthH776 is like thy peopleH5971, even like IsraelH3478, whom GodH430 wentH1980 to redeemH6299 unto himself for a peopleH5971, and to makeH7760 him a nameH8034, and to do great things for you, and terrible things for thy landH776, before thy peopleH5971, whom thou redeemedst to thee out of EgyptH4714, from the nationsH1471 and their godsH430? 24And thou didst establishH3559 to thyself thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 to beH1961 a peopleH5971 unto thee for everH5769; and thou, Jehovah, becamest their GodH430. 25And nowH6258, O Jehovah GodH430, the wordH1697 that thou hast spokenH1696 concerning thy servantH5650, and concerning his houseH1004, confirm thou it for everH5769, and do as thou hast spokenH1696. 26And let thy nameH8034 beH1961 magnifiedH1431 for everH5769, sayingH559, Jehovah of hostsH6635 is GodH430 over IsraelH3478; and the houseH1004 of thy servantH5650 DavidH1732 shall beH1961 establishedH3559 before thee. 27For thou, O Jehovah of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, hast revealedH1540 to thy servantH5650, sayingH559, I will buildH1129 thee a houseH1004: thereforeH3651 hath thy servantH5650 foundH4672 in his heartH3820 to prayH6419 this prayerH8605 unto thee. 28And nowH6258, O LordH136 Jehovah, thou art GodH430, and thy wordsH1697 are truthH571, and thou hast promised this goodH2896 thingH1697 unto thy servantH5650: 29nowH6258 thereforeH6258 let it please thee to blessH1288 the houseH1004 of thy servantH5650, that it may continue for everH5769 before thee; for thou, O LordH136 Jehovah, hast spokenH1696 it: and with thy blessingH1293 let the houseH1004 of thy servantH5650 beH1961 blessedH1288 for everH5769.
