David Plans to Build a Temple

11Now it cameH1961 about whenH3588 the kingH4428 livedH3427 in his houseH1004, and the LordH3068 had givenH5117 him restH5117 on everyH5439 sideH5439 from allH3605 his enemiesH340, 2that the kingH4428 saidH559 to 2NathanH5416 the prophetH5030, “SeeH7200 nowH4994, I dwellH3427 in 3a houseH1004 of cedarH730, but the arkH727 of GodH430 4dwellsH3427 withinH8432 tentH3407 curtainsH3407.” 3NathanH5416 saidH559 to the kingH4428, “5GoH1980, doH6213 allH3605 that is in your mindH3824, for the LordH3068 is with you.”

4But in the sameH1931 nightH3915 the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to NathanH5416, sayingH559, 5“GoH1980 and sayH559 to My servantH5650 DavidH1732, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, “6Are you the one who should buildH1129 Me a houseH1004 to dwellH3427 in? 6For 7I have not dweltH3427 in a houseH1004 sinceH4480 the dayH3117 I broughtH5927 up the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 from EgyptH4714, even to thisH2088 dayH3117; but I have beenH1961 movingH1980 about 8in a tentH168, even in a 9tabernacleH4908. 710WhereverH3605H834 I have goneH1980 with allH3605 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, did I speakH1696 a wordH1697 with oneH259 of the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, 11whichH834 I commandedH6680 to shepherdH7462 My peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, sayingH559, ‘WhyH4100 have you not builtH1129 Me a houseH1004 of cedarH730?’”’

God’s Covenant with David

8NowH6258 therefore, thusH3541 you shall sayH559 to My servantH5650 DavidH1732, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068 of hostsH6635, “12I tookH3947 you from the pastureH5116, from followingH310 the sheepH6629, 13to be rulerH5057 overH5921 My peopleH5971 IsraelH3478. 914I have beenH1961 with you whereverH3605H834 you have goneH1980 and 15have cutH3772 offH3772 allH3605 your enemiesH340 from beforeH6440 you; and I will makeH6213 you a greatH1419 nameH8034, like the namesH8034 of the greatH1419 menH1419 whoH834 are on the earthH776. 10I will also appointH7760 a placeH4725 for My peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 and 16will plantH5193 them, that they may liveH7931 in their own placeH8478 and not be disturbedH7264 againH5750, 17norH3808 will the 18wickedH5767H1121 afflictH6031 them anyH3254 moreH3254 as formerlyH7223, 11even 19from the dayH3117 that I commandedH6680 judgesH8199 to be overH5921 My peopleH5971 IsraelH3478; and 20I will giveH5117 you restH5117 from allH3605 your enemiesH340. The LordH3068 also declaresH5046 to you that 21the LordH3068 will makeH6213 a houseH1004 for you. 1222WhenH3588 your daysH3117 are completeH4390 and you 23lieH7901 downH7901 with your fathersH1, 24I will raiseH6965 up your 25descendantH2233 afterH310 you, whoH834 will comeH3318 forthH3318 from 26you, and I will establishH3559 his kingdomH4467. 1327He shall buildH1129 a houseH1004 for My nameH8034, and 28I will establishH3559 the throneH3678 of his kingdomH4467 foreverH5704H5769. 1429I will be a fatherH1 to him and he will be a sonH1121 to Me; 30whenH834 he commitsH5753 iniquityH5753, I will correctH3198 him with the rodH7626 of menH376 and the strokesH5061 of the sonsH1121 of menH120, 15but My lovingkindnessH2617 shall not departH5493 from him, 31as I tookH5493 it awayH5493 from SaulH7586, whomH834 I removedH5493 from beforeH6440 you. 1632Your houseH1004 and your kingdomH4467 shall endureH539 beforeH6440 33Me foreverH5704H5769; your throneH3678 shall be establishedH3559 foreverH5704H5769.”’” 17In accordance with allH3605 theseH428 wordsH1697 and allH3605 thisH2088 visionH2384, soH3651 NathanH5416 spokeH1696 to DavidH1732.
