40Then he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to allכָּל־kol-H3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478, “You shall be on oneאֶחָ֔ד'e.ChadH259sideלְעֵ֣בֶרle.'E.verH5676,and I and my sonבְּנִ֔יbe.NiH1121JonathanH3083will be on the otherאֶחָ֑ד'e.ChadH259sideלְעֵ֣בֶרle.'E.verH5676.”And the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971saidוַיֹּאמְר֤וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586, “Doעֲשֵֽׂה׃ ס'a.SehH6213whatH2896seems goodH2896to you.”

41Therefore, Saulשָׁא֗וּלsha.'UlH7586saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the LordH3068,the GodH430of IsraelH3478, “GiveH3051aperfectתָמִ֑יםta.MimH8549lot.”And JonathanH3083and Saulוְשָׁא֖וּלve.sha.'UlH7586were selectedH3920byH3920lotוַיִּלָּכֵ֧דvai.yi.la.KhedH3920,but the peopleH5971were exoneratedיָצָֽאוּ׃ya.Tza.'uH3318.

42Then Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Castהַפִּ֕ילוּha.Pi.luH5307lotsbetweenH996me and my sonבְּנִ֑יbe.NiH1121JonathanH3083.”And JonathanH3083was selectedH3920byH3920lotוַיִּלָּכֵ֖דvai.yi.la.KhedH3920.

43So Saulשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to JonathanH3083, “Tellהַגִּ֥ידָהha.Gi.dahH5046me whatמֶ֣הmehH4100you have doneעָשִׂ֑יתָה'a.Si.tahH6213.”And JonathanH3083toldוַיַּגֶּד־vai.ya.ged-H5046him, and saidוַיֹּאמֶר֩vai.yo.MerH559, “I did indeedטָעֹ֨םta.'OmH2938tasteטָעַ֜מְתִּיta.'Am.tiH2938a littleמְעַ֥טme.'AtH4592honeyדְּבַ֖שׁde.VashH1706with the endבִּקְצֵ֨הbik.TzehH7097of the staffהַמַּטֶּ֧הha.ma.TehH4294that was in my handבְּיָדִ֛יbe.ya.DiH3027.HereH2009I am, I must dieאָמֽוּת׃'a.MutH4191!”
