Job 1:8-22
8The LordH3068 saidH559 to SatanH7854, “Have you 1consideredH7760H3820H5921 2My servantH5650 JobH347? For thereH369 is noH369 oneH369 likeH3644 him on the earthH776, 3a blamelessH8535 and uprightH3477 manH376, 4fearingH3372 GodH430 and turningH5493 awayH5493 from evilH7451.” 9Then 5SatanH7854 answeredH6030 the 6LordH3068, “Does JobH347 fearH3372 GodH430 for nothingH2600? 107Have You not madeH7753 a hedgeH7753 aboutH1157 him and his houseH1004 and allH3605 that he has, on everyH5439 sideH5439? 8You have blessedH1288 the workH4639 of his handsH3027, and his 9possessionsH4735 have increasedH6555 in the landH776. 1110But putH7971 forthH7971 Your handH3027 nowH4994 and 11touchH5060 allH3605 that he has; he will surelyH518H3808 curseH1288 You to Your faceH6440.” 12Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to SatanH7854, “BeholdH2009, allH3605 that he has is in your 12powerH3027, onlyH7534 do not putH7971 forthH7971 your handH3027 on him.” So SatanH7854 departedH3318 from the presenceH6440 of the LordH3068.
13Now on the dayH3117 when his sonsH1121 and his daughtersH1323 were eatingH398 and drinkingH8354 wineH3196 in their oldestH1060 brother’sH251 houseH1004, 14a messengerH4397 cameH935 to JobH347 and saidH559, “The oxenH1241 were plowingH2790 and the 13donkeysH860 feedingH7462 besideH5921H3027 them, 15and 14the 15SabeansH7614 16attackedH5307 and tookH3947 them. They also 17slewH5221 the servantsH5288 with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719, and 18I aloneH905H7534 have escapedH4422 to tellH5046 you.” 16While he was stillH5750 speakingH1696, anotherH2088 also cameH935 and saidH559, “19The fireH784 of GodH430 fellH5307 from heavenH8064 and burnedH1197 up the sheepH6629 and the servantsH5288 and consumedH398 them, and I aloneH905H7534 have escapedH4422 to tellH5046 you.” 17While he was stillH5750 speakingH1696, anotherH2088 also cameH935 and saidH559, “The 20ChaldeansH3778 formedH7760 threeH7969 bandsH7218 and madeH7760 a raidH6584 on the camelsH1581 and tookH3947 them and 21slewH5221 the servantsH5288 with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719, and I aloneH905H7534 have escapedH4422 to tellH5046 you.” 18While he was still speakingH1696, anotherH2088 also cameH935 and saidH559, “Your sonsH1121 and your daughtersH1323 were eatingH398 and drinkingH8354 wineH3196 in their oldestH1060 brother’sH251 houseH1004, 19and beholdH2009, a greatH1419 windH7307 cameH935 from acrossH5676 the wildernessH4057 and struckH5221 the fourH702 cornersH6438 of the houseH1004, and it fellH5307 on the youngH5288 peopleH5288 and they diedH4191, and I aloneH905H7534 have escapedH4422 to tellH5046 you.”
20Then JobH347 aroseH6965 and 22toreH7167 his robeH4598 and shavedH1494 his headH7218, and he fellH5307 to the groundH776 and worshipedH7812. 21He saidH559, “23NakedH6174 I cameH3318 from my mother’sH517 wombH990, And nakedH6174 I shall returnH7725 thereH8033. The 24LordH3068 gaveH5414 and the LordH3068 has takenH3947 away. BlessedH1288 be the nameH8034 of the LordH3068.”
2225Through allH3605 thisH2088 JobH347 did not sinH2398 norH3808 did he 26blameH5414H8604 GodH430.
