Job 1:8-22
8And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto SatanH7854, Hast thou considered my servantH5650 JobH347? for there is noneH369 like him in the earthH776, a perfectH8535 and an uptight manH376, one that feareth GodH430, and escheweth evilH7451. 9Then SatanH7854 answeredH559 the LORDH3068, and saidH559, Doth JobH347 fearH3372 GodH430 for nought? 10Hast notH3808 thou madeH4639 an hedgeH7753 aboutH5439 him, and aboutH5439 his houseH1004, and aboutH5439 allH3605 that he hath, on everyH3605 sideH5439? thou hast blessedH1288 the workH4639 of his handsH3027, and his substance is increasedH6555 in the landH776. 11But putH7971 forthH7971 thine handH3027 nowH4994, and touchH5060 allH3605 that he hath, and he will renounce thee to thy faceH6440. 12And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto SatanH7854, BeholdH2009, allH3605 that he hath is in thy powerH3027; onlyH7535 uponH413 himselfH3027 putH7971 notH408 forthH3318 thine handH3027. SoH7971 SatanH7854 wentH3318 forthH3318 from the presenceH6440 of the LORDH3068. 13And it fellH1961 on a dayH3117 when his sonsH1121 and his daughtersH1323 were eatingH398 and drinkingH8354 wineH3196 in their eldest brother’sH251 houseH1004, 14that there cameH935 a messengerH4397 unto JobH347, and saidH559, The oxenH1241 were plowingH2790, and the asses feeding besideH5921 them: 15and the SabeansH7614 fellH5307 uponH5307 them, and tookH3947 them awayH3947; yea, they have slainH5221 the servantsH5288 with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719; and I onlyH7535 am escapedH4422 aloneH905 to tellH5046 thee. 16WhileH5750 he was yet speakingH1696, there cameH935 also anotherH2088, and saidH559, The fireH784 of GodH430 is fallenH5307 from heavenH8064, and hath burnedH1197 upH935 the sheepH6629, and the servantsH5288, and consumedH398 them; and I onlyH7535 am escapedH4422 aloneH905 to tellH5046 thee. 17WhileH5750 he was yet speakingH1696, there cameH935 also anotherH2088, and saidH559, The ChaldeansH3778 madeH7760 threeH7969 bandsH7218, and fellH5921 uponH5921 the camelsH1581, and have takenH3947 them awayH3947, yea, and slainH5221 the servantsH5288 with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719; and I onlyH7535 am escapedH4422 aloneH905 to tellH5046 thee. 18WhileH5704 he was yet speakingH1696, there cameH935 also anotherH251, and saidH559, Thy sonsH1121 and thy daughtersH1323 were eatingH398 and drinkingH8354 wineH3196 in their eldest brother’sH251 houseH1004: 19and, beholdH2009, there cameH935 a greatH1419 windH7307 from the wildernessH4057, and smote the fourH702 cornersH6438 of the houseH1004, and it fellH5307 uponH5921 the youngH5288 menH5288, and they are deadH4191; and I onlyH7535 am escapedH4422 aloneH905 to tellH5046 thee. 20Then JobH347 aroseH6965, and rent his mantleH4598, and shavedH1494 his headH7218, and fellH5307 downH7812 uponH5307 the groundH776, and worshipped; 21and he saidH559, NakedH6174 cameH1961 I outH3318 of my mother’sH517 wombH990, and nakedH6174 shall I returnH7725 thither: the LORDH3068 gaveH5414, and the LORDH3068 hath takenH3947 awayH7725; blessedH1288 be the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068. 22In allH3605 this JobH347 sinnedH2398 notH3808, norH3808 charged GodH430 with foolishness.
