Eliphaz: Innocent Do Not Suffer
1Then EliphazH464 the TemaniteH8489 1answeredH6030,2“If one venturesH5254 a wordH1697 with you, will you becomeH3811 impatientH3811? But 2whoH4310 canH3201 refrainH6113 3from speakingH4405?3BeholdH2009 4you have admonishedH3256 manyH7227, And you have strengthenedH2388 weakH7504 handsH3027.4Your wordsH4405 have 5helped the totteringH3782 to standH6965, And you have strengthenedH553 6feebleH3766 kneesH1290.5But nowH6258 it has comeH935 to you, and you 7are impatientH3811; It 8touchesH5060 you, and you are dismayedH926.6Is not your 910fearH3374 of God 11your confidenceH3690, And the integrityH8537 of your waysH1870 your hopeH8615?
7“RememberH2142 nowH4994, 12whoH4310 ever perishedH6 being innocentH5355? Or whereH375 were the uprightH3477 destroyedH3582?8According to whatH834 I have seenH7200, 13those who plowH2790 iniquityH205 And those who sowH2232 troubleH5999 harvestH7114 it.9By 14the breathH5397 of GodH433 they perishH6, And 15by the 16blastH7307 of His angerH639 they comeH3615 to an endH3615.10The 17roaringH7581 of the lionH743 and the voiceH6963 of the fierce lionH7826, And the teethH8127 of the youngH3715 lionsH3715 are brokenH5421.11The 18lionH3918 perishesH6 for lackH1097 of preyH2964, And the 19whelpsH1121 of the lionessH3833 are scatteredH6504.
12“Now a wordH1697 20was broughtH1589 to me stealthilyH1589, And my earH241 receivedH3947 a 21whisperH8102 of it.13Amid disquietingH8174 22thoughtsH8174 from the visionsH2384 of the nightH3915, When deepH8639 sleepH8639 fallsH5307 on menH376,14DreadH6343 cameH7122 upon me, and tremblingH7461, And made 23allH7230 my bonesH6106 shakeH6342.15Then a 24spiritH7307 passedH2498 by my faceH6440; The hairH8185 of my fleshH1320 bristledH5568 up.16It stoodH5975 stillH5975, but I could not discernH5234 its appearanceH4758; A formH8544 was beforeH5048 my eyesH5869; There was silenceH1827, then I heardH8085 a voiceH6963:17‘Can 25mankindH582 be justH6663 26beforeH4480 GodH433? Can a manH1397 be pureH2891 27beforeH4480 his 28MakerH6213?1829He putsH539 noH3808 trustH539 evenH2005 in His servantsH5650; And against His angelsH4397 He chargesH7760 errorH8417.19HowH637 muchH637 moreH637 those who dwellH7931 in 30housesH1004 of clayH2563, WhoseH834 31foundationH3247 is in the dustH6083, Who are crushedH1792 beforeH6440 the mothH6211!2032BetweenH4480 morningH1242 and eveningH6153 they are brokenH3807 in piecesH3807; UnobservedH1097H7760, they 33perishH6 foreverH5331.21Is not their 34tent-cordH3499 pluckedH5265 up within them? They dieH4191, yet 35withoutH3808 wisdomH2451.’
