Exodus 14:5-31
5When the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 was toldH5046 that the peopleH5971 had fledH1272, 1PharaohH6547 and his servantsH5650 hadH2015 a changeH2015 of heartH3824 towardH413 the peopleH5971, and they saidH559, “WhatH4100 is thisH2088 we have doneH6213, that we have letH7971 IsraelH3478 goH7971 from servingH5647 us?” 6So he madeH631 his chariotH7393 readyH631 and tookH3947 his peopleH5971 with him; 7and he tookH3947 sixH8337 hundredH3967 selectH977 chariotsH7393, and allH3605 the other chariotsH7393 of EgyptH4714 with officersH7991 overH5921 allH3605 of them. 82The LordH3068 3hardenedH2388 the heartH3820 of PharaohH6547, kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, and he chasedH7291 afterH310 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 as the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 were goingH3318 out 45boldlyH7311H3027. 9Then 6the EgyptiansH4714 chasedH7291 afterH310 them with allH3605 the horsesH5483 and chariotsH7393 of PharaohH6547, his horsemenH6571 and his armyH2428, and they overtookH5381 them campingH2583 by the seaH3220, 7besideH5921 Pi-hahirothH6367, in frontH6440 of Baal-zephonH1189.
10As PharaohH6547 drewH7126 nearH7126, the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 8lookedH5375H5869, and beholdH2009, the EgyptiansH4714 were marchingH5265 afterH310 them, and they becameH3372 veryH3966 frightenedH3372; 9so the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 criedH6817 out to the LordH3068. 11Then 10they saidH559 to MosesH4872, “Is it becauseH4480H1097 thereH369 were noH369 gravesH6913 in EgyptH4714 that you have takenH3947 us away to dieH4191 in the wildernessH4057? WhyH4100 have you dealtH6213 with us in thisH2088 wayH2088, 11bringingH3318 us out of EgyptH4714? 1212Is thisH2088 not the wordH1697 that we spokeH1696 to you in EgyptH4714, sayingH559, ‘13LeaveH2308 us aloneH4480 that we may serveH5647 the EgyptiansH4714’? For it would have been betterH2896 for us to serveH5647 the EgyptiansH4714 thanH4480 to dieH4191 in the wildernessH4057.” 13But MosesH4872 saidH559 to the peopleH5971, “14Do not fearH3372! 15StandH3320 by and seeH7200 16the salvationH3444 of the LordH3068 whichH834 He will accomplishH6213 for you todayH3117; for the EgyptiansH4714 whomH834 you have seenH7200 todayH3117, you will neverH3808H5750 seeH7200 them againH3254 foreverH5704H5769. 1417The LordH3068 will fightH3898 for you while 18you keepH2790 silentH2790.”
15Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to MosesH4872, “WhyH4100 are you cryingH6817 out to Me? TellH1696 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 to goH5265 forwardH5265. 16As for you, liftH7311 up 19your staffH4294 and stretchH5186 out your handH3027 overH5921 the seaH3220 and divideH1234 it, and the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 shall 20goH935 throughH935 the midstH8432 of the seaH3220 on dryH3004 landH3004. 17As for Me, beholdH2009, 21I will 22hardenH2388 the heartsH3820 of the EgyptiansH4714 so that they will goH935 in afterH310 them; and I will be honoredH3513 through PharaohH6547 and allH3605 his armyH2428, through his chariotsH7393 and his horsemenH6571. 1823Then the EgyptiansH4714 will knowH3045 that I am the LordH3068, when I am honoredH3513 through PharaohH6547, through his chariotsH7393 and his horsemenH6571.”
1924The angelH4397 of GodH430, who had been goingH1980 beforeH6440 the campH4264 of IsraelH3478, movedH5265 and wentH1980 behindH4480H310 them; and the pillarH5982 of cloudH6051 movedH5265 from beforeH4480H6440 them and stoodH5975 behindH4480H310 them. 20So it cameH935 betweenH996 the campH4264 of EgyptH4714 and the campH4264 of IsraelH3478; and there was the cloudH6051 25along with the darknessH2822, yet it gaveH215 lightH215 at nightH3915. Thus the oneH2088 did not comeH7126 nearH7126 the otherH2088 allH3605 nightH3915.
2126Then MosesH4872 stretchedH5186 out his handH3027 overH5921 the seaH3220; and the LordH3068 27sweptH1980 the seaH3220 back by a strongH5794 eastH6921 windH7307 allH3605 nightH3915 and turnedH7760 the seaH3220 into 28dryH2724 landH2724, so 29the watersH4325 were dividedH1234. 2230The sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 31wentH935 throughH935 the midstH8432 of the seaH3220 on the dryH3004 landH3004, and 32the watersH4325 were like a wallH2346 to them on their rightH3225 handH3225 and on their leftH8040. 23Then 33the EgyptiansH4714 tookH7291 up the pursuitH7291, and allH3605 Pharaoh’sH6547 horsesH5483, his chariotsH7393 and his horsemenH6571 wentH935 in afterH310 them into the midstH8432 of the seaH3220. 24At the morningH1242 watchH821, 34the LordH3068 lookedH8259 downH8259 on the 35armyH4264 of the EgyptiansH4714 36through the pillarH5982 of fireH784 and cloudH6051 and broughtH2000 the 37armyH4264 of the EgyptiansH4714 into confusionH2000. 25He 38caused their chariotH4818 wheelsH212 to swerveH5493, and He made them driveH5090 with difficultyH3517; so the EgyptiansH4714 saidH559, “Let 39us fleeH5127 from IsraelH3478, 40for the LordH3068 is fightingH3898 for them against the EgyptiansH4714.”
26Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to MosesH4872, “41StretchH5186 out your handH3027 overH5921 the seaH3220 so that the watersH4325 may comeH7725 backH7725 overH5921 the EgyptiansH4714, overH5921 their chariotsH7393 and their horsemenH6571.” 27So MosesH4872 stretchedH5186 out his handH3027 overH5921 the seaH3220, and 42the seaH3220 returnedH7725 to its normalH386 stateH386 at daybreakH1242, while the EgyptiansH4714 were fleeingH5127 43rightH7122 into it; then the LordH3068 4445overthrewH5287 the EgyptiansH4714 in the midstH8432 of the seaH3220. 28The watersH4325 returnedH7725 and coveredH3680 the chariotsH7393 and the horsemenH6571, 46even Pharaoh’sH6547 entireH3605 armyH2428 that had goneH935 into the seaH3220 afterH310 them; 47not evenH5704 oneH259 of them remainedH7604. 29But the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 walkedH1980 on 48dryH3004 landH3004 through the midstH8432 of the seaH3220, and the watersH4325 were like a wallH2346 to them on their rightH3225 handH3225 and on their leftH8040.
3049Thus the LordH3068 savedH3467 IsraelH3478 that dayH3117 from the handH3027 of the EgyptiansH4714, and IsraelH3478 50sawH7200 the EgyptiansH4714 deadH4191 on the seashoreH3220H8193. 31When IsraelH3478 sawH7200 the greatH1419 51powerH3027 whichH834 the LordH3068 had 52usedH6213 against the EgyptiansH4714, the peopleH5971 53fearedH3372 the LordH3068, and 54they believedH539 in the LordH3068 and in His servantH5650 MosesH4872.
