Exodus 1:16-22
and he saidH559, “When you are helping the HebrewH5680 womenH5680 to giveH3205 birthH3205 and seeH7200 them upon the birthstoolH70, 1ifH518 it is a sonH1121, then you shall putH4191 him to deathH4191; but ifH518 it is a daughterH1323, then she shall liveH2421.”
But the midwivesH3205 23fearedH3372 GodH430, and 4did not doH6213 as the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 had 5commandedH1696 them, but let the boysH3206 liveH2421.
So the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 calledH7121 for the midwivesH3205 and saidH559 to them, “WhyH4069 have you doneH6213 thisH2088 thingH1697, and let the boysH3206 liveH2421?”
The midwivesH3205 saidH559 to PharaohH6547, “BecauseH3588 the HebrewH5680 womenH5680 are not as the EgyptianH4713 womenH802; for they are vigorousH2422 and giveH3205 birthH3205 beforeH2962 the midwifeH3205 6canH935 getH935 to them.”
So 7GodH430 was goodH3190 to the midwivesH3205, and 8the peopleH5971 multipliedH7235, and becameH6105 veryH3966 9mightyH6105.
BecauseH3588 the midwivesH3205 1011fearedH3372 GodH430, He 1213establishedH6213 14householdsH1004 for them.
Then PharaohH6547 commandedH6680 allH3605 his peopleH5971, sayingH559, “15EveryH3605 sonH1121 who is bornH3209 16you are to castH7993 into 17the NileH2975, and everyH3605 daughterH1323 you are to keepH2421 aliveH2421.”
