46But someτινὲςtinesG5100of them wentἀπῆλθονapēlthonG565to thePhariseesΦαρισαίουςPharisaiousG5330and toldG3004them the things whichἃhaG3739JesusἸησοῦς.¶IēsousG2424had doneἐποίησενepoiēsenG4160.

47ThereforeοὖνounG3767the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749and the PhariseesΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiG5330convenedΣυνήγαγονSunēgagonG4863acouncilσυνέδριονsunedrionG4892,and were sayingἔλεγον·elegonG3004, “WhatτίtiG5101are we doingποιοῦμεν,poioumenG4160?For thisοὗτοςhoutosG3778manἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444is performingποιεῖpoieiG4160manyπολλὰpollaG4183signsσημεῖα;sēmeiaG4592.

48IfἐὰνeanG1437we letἀφῶμενaphōmenG863Him go onlikeG3779thisG3779,allG3956menG3956will believeπιστεύσουσινpisteusousinG4100in Him, and the RomansῬωμαῖοιRhōmaioiG4514will comeἐλεύσονταιeleusontaiG2064and takeἀροῦσινarousinG142awayG142bothG2532ourplaceτόπονtoponG5117and our nationἔθνος.¶ethnosG1484.”

49But oneΕἷςHeisG1520of them,CaiaphasΚαϊάφας,KaiaphasG2533,who was highG749priestἀρχιερεὺςarchiereusG749that yearἐνιαυτοῦeniautouG1763,saidG3004to them, “You knowG3609nothingG3762at allG3762,

50norοὐδὲoudeG3761do you takeG3049into accountG3049thatit is expedientσυμφέρειsumphereiG4851for you that oneεἷςheisG1520manἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444dieἀποθάνῃapothanēG599for the peopleλαοῦ,laouG2992,and that the wholeὅλονholonG3650nationἔθνοςethnosG1484not perishἀπόληται.apolētaiG622.”

51NowδὲdeG1161he did not sayG3004thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778on his ownG1438initiativeG1438, butbeingὢνōnG1510highἀρχιερεὺςarchiereusG749priestG749that yearἐνιαυτοῦeniautouG1763,he prophesiedἐπροφήτευσενeprophēteusenG4395that JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424was goingἔμελλενemellenG3195to dieἀποθνῄσκεινapothnēskeinG599for the nationἔθνους,ethnousG1484,

52and not for the nationἔθνουςethnousG1484onlyG3440,but in orderἵναinaG2443that He might alsoG2532gatherσυναγάγῃsunagagēG4863togetherG4863into oneἕν.¶henG1520the childrenτέκναteknaG5043of GodθεοῦtheouG2316who are scatteredδιεσκορπισμέναdieskorpismenaG1287abroadG1287.
