2“Thusכֹּה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֞ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068of hostsצְבָאוֹת֙tze.va.'OtH6635,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478, ‘You yourselvesH864have seenרְאִיתֶ֗םre.'i.TemH7200allכָּל־kol-H3605the calamityH7463that I have broughtהֵבֵ֙אתִי֙he.Ve.tiH935on Jerusalemיְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םye.Ru.sha.LimH3389and allכָּל־kol-H3605the citiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063;and beholdH2009,thisהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֣וֹםhai.YomH3117they are inruinsחָרְבָּה֙cha.re.BahH2723and noH369oneH369livesיוֹשֵֽׁב׃yo.ShevH3427in them,

5Butthey did not listenשָֽׁמְעוּ֙sha.me.'UH8085or inclineהִטּ֣וּhi.TuH5186their earsאָזְנָ֔ם'a.ze.NamH241to turnלָשׁ֖וּבla.ShuvH7725from their wickednessH7463,so as not to burnH6999sacrificesH6999to otherאֲחֵרִֽים׃'a.che.RimH312godsלֵאלֹהִ֥יםle.lo.HimH430.

6Therefore Mywrathחֲמָתִי֙cha.ma.TiH2534and My angerוְאַפִּ֔יve.'a.PiH639were pouredוַתִּתַּ֤ךְva.ti.TakhH5413out and burnedוַתִּבְעַר֙va.tiv.'ArH1197in thecitiesבְּעָרֵ֣יbe.'a.ReiH5892of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063and in the streetsוּבְחֻצ֖וֹתu.ve.chu.TzotH2351of Jerusalemיְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,so they haveH1961becomeH1961a ruinלְחָרְבָּ֥הle.cha.re.BahH2723and adesolationלִשְׁמָמָ֖הlish.ma.MahH8077as it is thisהַזֶּֽה׃ סha.ZehH2088dayכַּיּ֥וֹםkai.YomH3117.

10But theyhave not becomeH1792contriteדֻכְּא֔וּdu.ke.'UH1792even to thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֣וֹםhai.YomH3117,norH3808have they fearedיָרְא֗וּya.re.'UH3372norH3808walkedהָלְכ֤וּha.le.KhuH1980in My lawבְתֽוֹרָתִי֙ve.to.ra.TiH8451or My statutesוּבְחֻקֹּתַ֔יu.ve.chu.ko.TaiH2708,whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834I have setנָתַ֥תִּיna.Ta.tiH5414beforeלִפְנֵיכֶ֖םlif.nei.KhemH6440you and beforeוְלִפְנֵ֥יve.lif.NeiH6440your fathersאֲבוֹתֵיכֶֽם׃ ס'a.vo.tei.KhemH1.”’

11“Thereforeלָכֵ֗ןla.KhenH3651thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֞ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068of hostsצְבָאוֹת֙tze.va.'OtH6635,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478, ‘BeholdH2009, I am going tosetשָׂ֥םsamH7760My faceפָּנַ֛יpa.NaiH6440against you forwoeH7463,even to cutוּלְהַכְרִ֖יתu.le.hakh.RitH3772offH3772allכָּל־kol-H3605Judahיְהוּדָֽה׃ye.hu.DahH3063.

12And I willtakeוְלָקַחְתִּ֞יve.la.kach.TiH3947away the remnantשְׁאֵרִ֣יתshe.'e.RitH7611of Judahיְהוּדָ֗הye.hu.DahH3063whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834have setשָׂ֨מוּSa.muH7760theirmindפְנֵיהֶ֜םfe.nei.HemH6440on enteringלָב֣וֹאla.Vo'H935the landאֶֽרֶץ־'e.retz-H776of Egyptמִצְרַיִם֮mitz.ra.YimH4714to resideלָג֣וּרla.GurH1481thereשָׁם֒shamH8033,and they will allכֹ֜לkholH3605meetוְתַ֨מּוּve.Ta.muH8552their endיִתַּ֔מּוּyi.Ta.muH8552in the landבְּאֶ֧רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֣יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714;they will fallיִפֹּ֗לוּyi.Po.luH5307by the swordבַּחֶ֤רֶבba.Che.revH2719andmeetH8552their endH8552by famineבָּֽרָעָב֙ba.ra.'AvH7458.BothH4480smallמִקָּטֹן֙mi.ka.TonH6996and greatגָּד֔וֹלga.DolH1419will dieיָמֻ֑תוּya.Mu.tuH4191by the swordבַּחֶ֥רֶבba.Che.revH2719and famineוּבָרָעָ֖בu.va.ra.'AvH7458;and they will becomeוְהָיוּ֙ve.ha.YuH1961acurseוְלִקְלָלָ֖הve.lik.la.LahH7045,an objectH8047of horrorלְשַׁמָּ֔הle.sha.MahH8047,an imprecationH7045and a reproachוּלְחֶרְפָּֽה׃u.le.cher.PahH2781.

13And I willpunishוּפָקַדְתִּ֗יu.fa.kad.TiH6485those who liveהַיּֽוֹשְׁבִים֙hai.yo.she.VimH3427in the landבְּאֶ֣רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,as I have punishedפָּקַ֖דְתִּיpa.Kad.tiH6485Jerusalemיְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,with the swordבַּחֶ֥רֶבba.Che.revH2719,with famineבָּרָעָ֖בba.ra.'AvH7458and with pestilenceוּבַדָּֽבֶר׃u.va.Da.verH1698.

14So there will benoוְלֹ֨אve.Lo'H3808refugeesפָּלִ֤יטpa.LitH6412or survivorsוְשָׂרִיד֙ve.sa.RidH8300for the remnantלִשְׁאֵרִ֣יתlish.'e.RitH7611of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063who have enteredהַבָּאִ֥יםha.ba.'ImH935the landבְּאֶ֣רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָ֑יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714to resideלָגֽוּר־la.gur-H1481thereH8033and then to returnוְלָשׁ֣וּב׀ve.la.ShuvH7725to the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of Judahיְהוּדָ֗הye.hu.DahH3063,to whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834they arelongingמְנַשְּׂאִ֤ים נַפְשָׁם֙me.na.se.'Im naf.ShamH5375 H5315to returnלָשׁוּב֙la.ShuvH7725and liveלָשֶׁ֣בֶתla.She.vetH3427;for noneלֹֽא־lo'-H3808willreturnיָשׁ֖וּבוּya.Shu.vuH7725exceptאִם־'im-H3588 H518a fewrefugeesפְּלֵטִֽים׃ סpe.le.TimH6412.’”

15Thenallכָּל־kol-H3605the menH376who were awareהַיֹּֽדְעִים֙hai.yo.de.'ImH3045that their wivesנְשֵׁיהֶם֙ne.shei.HemH802were burningH6999sacrificesH6999to otherאֲחֵרִ֔ים'a.che.RimH312godsלֵאלֹהִ֣יםle.lo.HimH430,along with allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the womenהַנָּשִׁ֥יםha.na.ShimH802who were standingהָעֹמְד֖וֹתha.'o.me.DotH5975by, asa largeגָּד֑וֹלga.DolH1419assemblyקָהָ֣לka.HalH6951,including allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the peopleהָעָ֛םha.'AmH5971who were livingהַיֹּשְׁבִ֥יםhai.yo.she.VimH3427in Pathrosבְּפַתְר֥וֹסbe.fat.RosH6624in the landבְּאֶֽרֶץ־be.'e.retz-H776of Egyptמִצְרַ֖יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,respondedוַיַּעֲנ֣וּvai.ya.'a.NuH6030to Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֗הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

16“As for themessageהַדָּבָ֛רha.da.VarH1697that you have spokenדִּבַּ֥רְתָּdi.Bar.taH1696to us in the nameבְּשֵׁ֣םbe.ShemH8034of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,we are not going to listenשֹׁמְעִ֖יםsho.me.'ImH8085to you!

17But ratherכִּ֩יkiH3588 H518we will certainlyעָשֹׂ֨ה'a.SohH6213carryנַעֲשֶׂ֜הna.'a.SehH6213out everyכָּל־kol-H3605wordהַדָּבָ֣ר׀ha.da.VarH1697that has proceededיָצָ֣אya.Tza'H3318from our mouthsמִפִּ֗ינוּmi.Pi.nuH6310,by burningH6999sacrificesH6999to thequeenלִמְלֶ֣כֶתlim.Le.khetH4446of heavenהַשָּׁמַיִם֮ha.sha.ma.YimH8064and pouringוְהַסֵּֽיךְ־ve.ha.seikh-H5258out drinkנְסָכִים֒ne.sa.KhimH5262offeringsH5262to her, justH3512aswe ourselvesאֲנַ֤חְנוּ'a.Nach.nuH587,our forefathersוַאֲבֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙va.'a.vo.Tei.nuH1,our kingsמְלָכֵ֣ינוּme.la.Khei.nuH4428and our princesוְשָׂרֵ֔ינוּve.sa.Rei.nuH8269didעָשִׂ֜ינוּ'a.Si.nuH6213in the citiesבְּעָרֵ֣יbe.'a.ReiH5892of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063and in the streetsוּבְחֻצ֖וֹתu.ve.chu.TzotH2351of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָ֑םye.ru.sha.LimH3389; for then we hadplentyוַנִּֽשְׂבַּֽע־va.nis.ba'-H7646offoodלֶ֙חֶם֙le.chemH3899and were wellH2896offH2896and sawרָאִֽינוּ׃ra.'I.nuH7200noלֹ֥אlo'H3808misfortuneH7463.

18But sinceוּמִן־ אָ֡זu.min- 'azH4480 H227we stoppedחָדַ֜לְנוּcha.Dal.nuH2308burningH6999sacrificesH6999to the queenלִמְלֶ֧כֶתlim.Le.khetH4446of heavenהַשָּׁמַ֛יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and pouringוְהַסֵּֽךְ־ve.ha.sekh-H5258out drinkנְסָכִ֖יםne.sa.KhimH5262offeringsH5262to her, we havelackedחָסַ֣רְנוּcha.Sar.nuH2637everythingכֹ֑לKholH3605and havemetH8552our endתָּֽמְנוּ׃Ta.me.nuH8552by the swordוּבַחֶ֥רֶבu.va.Che.revH2719and by famineוּבָרָעָ֖בu.va.ra.'AvH7458.”

19“And,” said the women, “whenוְכִֽי־ve.khi-H3588we wereburningH6999sacrificesH6999to the queenלִמְלֶ֣כֶתlim.Le.khetH4446of heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064andwere pouringוּלְהַסֵּ֥ךְu.le.ha.SekhH5258out drinkנְסָכִ֑יםne.sa.KhimH5262offeringsH5262to her, was itwithoutהֲמִֽבַּלְעֲדֵ֣יha.mi.bal.'a.DeiH4480 H1107our husbandsH376that we madeעָשִׂ֨ינוּ'a.Si.nuH6213for her sacrificialcakesכַּוָּנִים֙ka.va.NimH3561in her imageלְהַ֣עֲצִבָ֔הle.Ha.'a.tzi.VahH6087and pouredוְהַסֵּ֥ךְve.ha.SekhH5258out drinkנְסָכִֽים׃ פne.sa.KhimH5262offeringsH5262to her?”

Calamity for the Jews

20Then Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֖הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971,to the menהַגְּבָרִ֤יםha.ge.va.RimH1397and womenהַנָּשִׁים֙ha.na.ShimH802--even to allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971who were givingהָעֹנִ֥יםha.'o.NimH6030him suchan answerדָּבָ֖רda.VarH1697--sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

21“As for thesmokingH7002sacrificesH7002that you burnedקִטַּרְתֶּ֜םki.tar.TemH6999in the citiesבְּעָרֵ֤יbe.'a.ReiH5892of Judahיְהוּדָה֙ye.hu.DahH3063and in thestreetsוּבְחֻצ֣וֹתu.ve.chu.TzotH2351of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֔םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,you and your forefathersוַאֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶ֛םva.'a.vo.tei.KhemH1,your kingsמַלְכֵיכֶ֥םmal.khei.KhemH4428and your princesוְשָׂרֵיכֶ֖םve.sa.rei.KhemH8269,and the peopleוְעַ֣םve.'AmH5971of the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776,did not the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068rememberזָכַ֣רza.KharH2142them and did not all thiscomeוַֽתַּעֲלֶ֖הva.ta.'a.LehH5927into Hismindלִבּֽוֹ׃li.BoH3820?

22So the Lordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068wasnoוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808longerע֜וֹדodH5750ableיוּכַל֩yu.KhalH3201to endureלָשֵׂ֗אתla.SetH5375it,becauseמִפְּנֵי֙mi.pe.NeiH4480 H6440of the evilרֹ֣עַRo.a'H7455of your deedsמַעַלְלֵיכֶ֔םma.'a.lei.KhemH4611,becauseמִפְּנֵ֥יmi.pe.NeiH4480 H6440of the abominationsהַתּוֹעֵבֹ֖תha.to.'e.VotH8441whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834you have committedעֲשִׂיתֶ֑ם'a.si.TemH6213;thus your landאַ֠רְצְכֶם'Ar.tze.khemH776has becomeוַתְּהִ֣יva.te.HiH1961aruinלְחָרְבָּ֨הle.cha.re.BahH2723,an objectH8047of horrorH8047and a curseוְלִקְלָלָ֛הve.lik.la.LahH7045,withoutמֵאֵ֥יןme.'EinH369an inhabitantיוֹשֵׁ֖בyo.ShevH3427, as it isthisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088dayכְּהַיּ֥וֹםke.hai.YomH3117.

23Becauseמִפְּנֵי֩mi.pe.NeiH4480 H6440you have burnedH6999sacrificesH6999and have sinnedחֲטָאתֶ֣םcha.ta.TemH2398against the Lordלַיהוָ֗הla.Yah.wehH3068andnot obeyedשְׁמַעְתֶּם֙she.ma'.TemH8085the voiceבְּק֣וֹלbe.KolH6963of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068orwalkedהֲלַכְתֶּ֑םha.lakh.TemH1980in His lawוּבְתֹרָת֧וֹu.ve.to.ra.ToH8451,His statutesוּבְחֻקֹּתָ֛יוu.ve.chu.ko.TavH2708or His testimoniesוּבְעֵדְוֹתָ֖יוu.ve.'e.de.vo.TavH5715,thereforeעַל־ כֵּ֞ן'al- kenH5921 H3651thisH2088calamityH7463has befallenקָרָ֥אתka.RatH7122you, as it hasthisH2088dayכַּיּ֥וֹםkai.YomH3117.”
