2and saidוַיֹּאמְר֞וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֣הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414the prophetהַנָּבִ֗יאha.na.Vi'H5030, “Pleaseנָ֤אna'H4994let ourpetitionתְחִנָּתֵ֙נוּ֙te.chi.na.Te.nuH8467comeתִּפָּל־ti.pol-H5307beforeלְפָנֶ֔יךָle.fa.Nei.khaH6440you, andprayוְהִתְפַּלֵּ֤לve.hit.pa.LelH6419for us to the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430, that isfor allכָּל־kol-H3605thisH2088remnantהַשְּׁאֵרִ֣יתha.she.'e.RitH7611;becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588we are leftנִשְׁאַ֤רְנוּnish.'Ar.nuH7604but afewמְעַט֙me.'AtH4592out of manyמֵֽהַרְבֵּ֔הme.har.BehH7235,as your own eyesעֵינֶ֖יךָ'ei.Nei.khaH5869nowseeרֹא֥וֹתro.'otH7200us,

3that the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430may tellוְיַגֶּד־ve.ya.ged-H5046us thewayהַדֶּ֖רֶךְha.De.rekhH1870in whichH834we should walkנֵֽלֶךְ־ne.lekh-H1980and the thingהַדָּבָ֖רha.da.VarH1697that we should doנַעֲשֶֽׂה׃na.'a.SehH6213.”

4Then Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֤הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414the prophetהַנָּבִיא֙ha.na.Vi'H5030saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “I have heardשָׁמַ֔עְתִּיsha.Ma'.tiH8085you.BeholdH2009, I am going toprayמִתְפַּלֵּ֛לmit.pa.LelH6419to the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם'e.lo.hei.KhemH430in accordance with your wordsכְּדִבְרֵיכֶ֑םke.div.rei.KhemH1697;and I will tellאַגִּ֣יד'a.GidH5046you the wholeכָּֽל־kal-H3605messageהַדָּבָר֩ha.da.VarH1697whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834theLordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068will answerיַעֲנֶ֨הya.'a.NehH6030you. I willnot keepH4513backH4513a wordדָּבָֽר׃da.VarH1697from you.”

5Then they saidאָמְר֣וּ'a.me.RuH559to Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֔הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414, “May theLordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068be a trueאֱמֶ֣ת'e.MetH571and faithfulוְנֶאֱמָ֑ןve.ne.'e.ManH539witnessלְעֵ֖דle.'EdH5707against us ifאִם־'im-H518we do not actנַעֲשֶֽׂה׃na.'a.SehH6213in accordance with the wholeכְּֽכָל־ke.khol-H3605messageהַ֠דָּבָרHa.da.vorH1697with whichאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָ֧הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430will sendיִֽשְׁלָחֲךָ֜yish.la.cha.KhaH7971you to us.

6Whetherאִם־'im-H518it ispleasantט֣וֹבTovH2896orוְאִם־ve.'im-H518unpleasantרָ֔עRa'H7451, we willlistenנִשְׁמָ֑עnish.Ma'H8085to the voiceבְּק֣וֹל׀be.KolH6963of the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430to whomH834we are sendingשֹׁלְחִ֥יםsho.le.ChimH7971you, soלְמַ֙עַן֙le.Ma.'anH4616that it may goיִֽיטַב־yi.tav-H3190wellH3190with us whenכִּ֣יkiH3588we listenנִשְׁמַ֔עnish.Ma'H8085to the voiceבְּק֖וֹלbe.KolH6963of the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ ס'e.lo.Hei.nuH430.”

7Now at theendמִקֵּ֖ץmi.KetzH7093of tenעֲשֶׂ֣רֶת'a.Se.retH6235daysיָמִ֑יםya.MimH3117the wordדְבַר־de.var-H1697of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068cameH1961to Jeremiahיִרְמְיָֽהוּ׃yir.me.Ya.huH3414.

8Then he calledוַיִּקְרָ֗אvai.yik.Ra'H7121for JohananH3076the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Kareahקָרֵ֔חַka.Re.achH7143and allכָּל־kol-H3605thecommandersשָׂרֵ֥יsa.ReiH8269of the forcesהַחֲיָלִ֖יםha.cha.ya.LimH2428that were with him, and for allוּלְכָ֨ל־u.le.Khal-H3605the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971bothH4480smallלְמִקָּטֹ֥ןle.mi.ka.TonH6996and greatגָּדֽוֹל׃ga.DolH1419,

9and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,to whomאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834you sentשְׁלַחְתֶּ֤םshe.lach.TemH7971me to presentלְהַפִּ֥ילle.ha.PilH5307your petitionתְּחִנַּתְכֶ֖םte.chi.nat.KhemH8467beforeלְפָנָֽיו׃le.fa.NavH6440Him:

10‘Ifאִם־'im-H518you will indeedשׁ֤וֹבShovH7725stayתֵּֽשְׁבוּ֙te.she.VuH3427in thisH2088landבָּאָ֣רֶץba.'A.retzH776, then I willbuildוּבָנִ֤יתִיu.va.Ni.tiH1129you up and not tearאֶהֱרֹ֔ס'e.he.RosH2040you downH2040,and I will plantוְנָטַעְתִּ֥יve.na.ta'.TiH5193you and not uprootאֶתּ֑וֹשׁ'e.To.oshH5428you; for I willrelentנִחַ֙מְתִּי֙ni.Cham.tiH5162concerningאֶל־'el-H413the calamityH7463that I have inflictedעָשִׂ֖יתִי'a.Si.tiH6213on you.

11Do not be afraidH3372of the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Babylonבָּבֶ֔לba.VelH894,whomאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834you are nowfearingH3372;do not be afraidH3372of him,’ declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068, ‘forI am with you to saveלְהוֹשִׁ֧יעַle.ho.Shi.a'H3467you and deliverוּלְהַצִּ֥ילu.le.ha.TzilH5337you from his handמִיָּדֽוֹ׃mi.ya.DoH3027.

12I will also showוְאֶתֵּ֥ןve.'e.TenH5414you compassionרַחֲמִ֖יםra.cha.MimH7356, so thathe will haveH7355compassionוְרִחַ֣םve.ri.ChamH7355on you and restoreוְהֵשִׁ֥יבve.he.ShivH7725you to your own soilאַדְמַתְכֶֽם׃'ad.mat.KhemH127.

13But ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518you are going to sayאֹמְרִ֣ים'o.me.RimH559, “We willnot stayנֵשֵׁ֖בne.ShevH3427in thisH2088landבָּאָ֣רֶץba.'A.retzH776,”so as not to listenשְׁמֹ֔עַshe.Mo.a'H8085to the voiceבְּק֖וֹלbe.KolH6963of the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃'e.lo.hei.KhemH430,

14sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559, “NoH3808, but we willgoנָב֔וֹאna.Vo'H935to the landאֶ֤רֶץ'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֙יִם֙mitz.Ra.yimH4714,whereאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834we will not seeנִרְאֶה֙nir.'EhH7200warמִלְחָמָ֔הmil.cha.MahH4421orhearנִשְׁמָ֑עnish.Ma'H8085the soundוְק֥וֹלve.KolH6963of a trumpetשׁוֹפָ֖רsho.FarH7782or hungerנִרְעָ֖בnir.'AvH7456for breadוְלַלֶּ֥חֶםve.la.Le.chemH3899,and we will stayנֵשֵֽׁב׃ne.ShevH3427thereוְשָׁ֥םve.ShamH8033”;

15thenin that caseלָכֵ֛ןla.KhenH3651listenשִׁמְע֥וּshim.'UH8085to the wordדְבַר־de.var-H1697of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,O remnantשְׁאֵרִ֣יתshe.'e.RitH7611of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063.Thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541saysאָמַר֩'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068of hostsצְבָא֜וֹתtze.va.'otH6635,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478, “Ifאִם־'im-H518you reallyשׂ֣וֹםSomH7760setתְּשִׂמ֤וּןte.si.MunH7760yourmindפְּנֵיכֶם֙pe.nei.KhemH6440to enterלָבֹ֣אla.Vo'H935Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714and goוּבָאתֶ֖םu.va.TemH935in to resideלָג֥וּרla.GurH1481thereשָֽׁם׃ShamH8033,

16then theswordהַחֶ֗רֶבha.Che.revH2719,whichאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834you are afraidH3372of, will overtakeתַּשִּׂ֥יגta.SigH5381you thereשָׁ֛םshamH8033in the landבְּאֶ֣רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָ֑יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714;and the famineוְהָרָעָ֞בve.ha.ra.'AvH7458,about whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834you are anxiousדֹּאֲגִ֣יםdo.'a.GimH1672,will followH1692closelyיִדְבַּ֧קyid.BakH1692afterאַחֲרֵיכֶ֛ם'a.cha.rei.KhemH310you thereשָׁ֣םshamH8033inEgyptמִצְרַ֖יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,and you will dieתָּמֻֽתוּ׃ta.Mu.tuH4191thereוְשָׁ֥םve.ShamH8033.

17So allכָל־khol-H3605the menH376whoH834setשָׂ֨מוּSa.muH7760theirmindH6440to goלָב֤וֹאla.Vo'H935to Egyptמִצְרַ֙יִם֙mitz.Ra.yimH4714to resideלָג֣וּרla.GurH1481thereשָׁ֔םShamH8033will dieיָמ֕וּתוּya.Mu.tuH4191by theswordבַּחֶ֖רֶבba.Che.revH2719,by famineבָּרָעָ֣בba.ra.'AvH7458and by pestilenceוּבַדָּ֑בֶרu.va.Da.verH1698; and they willhaveH1961noוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808survivorsשָׂרִ֣ידsa.RidH8300or refugeesוּפָלִ֔יטu.fa.LitH6412from the calamityH7463that I am going to bringמֵבִ֥יאme.Vi'H935on them.”’”

18For thusכֹ֨הkhohH3541saysאָמַ֜ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068of hostsצְבָאוֹת֮tze.va.'OtH6635,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֒Yis.ra.'ElH3478, “As Myangerאַפִּ֜י'a.PiH639and wrathוַחֲמָתִ֗יva.cha.ma.TiH2534have been pouredנִתַּ֨ךְni.TakhH5413out on the inhabitantsיֹֽשְׁבֵי֙yo.she.VeiH3427of Jerusalemיְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םye.Ru.sha.LimH3389,soכֵּ֣ןkenH3651My wrathחֲמָתִי֙cha.ma.TiH2534will be pouredתִּתַּ֤ךְti.TakhH5413out on you when you enterבְּבֹאֲכֶ֖םbe.vo.'a.KhemH935Egyptמִצְרָ֑יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714.And you will becomeוִהְיִיתֶ֞םvih.yi.TemH1961acurseוְלִקְלָלָ֣הve.lik.la.LahH7045,an objectH8047of horrorוּלְשַׁמָּה֙u.le.sha.MahH8047,an imprecationH7045and a reproachוּלְחֶרְפָּ֔הu.le.cher.PahH2781; andyou will seeתִרְא֣וּtir.'UH7200thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088placeהַמָּק֖וֹםha.ma.KomH4725noוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808moreע֔וֹדodH5750.”

19The Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068has spokenדִּבֶּ֨רdi.BerH1696to you, O remnantשְׁאֵרִ֣יתshe.'e.RitH7611of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063, “Do notgoתָּבֹ֖אוּta.Vo.'uH935into Egyptמִצְרָ֑יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714!”You should clearlyיָדֹ֙עַ֙ya.Do.a'H3045understandתֵּֽדְע֔וּte.de.'UH3045that todayהַיּֽוֹם׃hai.YomH3117I havetestifiedהַעִידֹ֥תִיha.'i.Do.tiH5749against you.

21So I havetoldוָאַגִּ֥דva.'a.GidH5046you todayהַיּ֑וֹםhai.YomH3117, but you have notobeyedשְׁמַעְתֶּ֗ם בְּקוֹל֙she.ma'.Tem be.kOlH8085 H6963the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם'e.lo.hei.KhemH430,even in whateverוּלְכֹ֖ל אֲשֶׁר־u.le.Khol 'a.Sher-H3605 H834He has sentשְׁלָחַ֥נִיshe.la.Cha.niH7971me to tell you.
