2“Goהָלוֹךְ֮ha.loKhH1980to the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of theRechabitesהָרֵכָבִים֒ha.re.kha.VimH7397and speakוְדִבַּרְתָּ֣ve.di.bar.TaH1696to them, and bringוַהֲבִֽאוֹתָם֙va.ha.vi.'o.TamH935them into the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,into oneאַחַ֖ת'a.ChatH259of thechambersהַלְּשָׁכ֑וֹתha.le.sha.KhotH3957,and giveוְהִשְׁקִיתָ֥ve.hish.ki.TaH8248them wineיָֽיִן׃Ya.yinH3196to drinkH8248.”

3Then I tookוָאֶקַּ֞חva.'e.KachH3947Jaazaniahיַאֲזַנְיָ֤הya.'a.zan.YahH2970the sonבֶֽן־ven-H1121of Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֙הוּ֙yir.me.Ya.huH3414,sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Habazziniahחֲבַצִּנְיָ֔הcha.va.tzin.YahH2262,and his brothersאֶחָ֖יו'e.ChavH251and allכָּל־kol-H3605his sonsבָּנָ֑יוba.NavH1121and the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of the Rechabitesהָרֵכָבִֽים׃ha.re.kha.VimH7397,

4and I broughtוָאָבִ֤אva.'a.Vi'H935them into the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,into the chamberלִשְׁכַּ֗תlish.KatH3957of the sonsבְּנֵ֛יbe.NeiH1121of Hananחָנָ֥ןcha.NanH2605the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Igdaliahיִגְדַּלְיָ֖הוּyig.dal.Ya.huH3012, themanאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834was nearאֵ֙צֶל֙'e.tzelH681the chamberלִשְׁכַּ֣תlish.KatH3957of the officialsהַשָּׂרִ֔יםha.sa.RimH8269,whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834was aboveמִמַּ֗עַלmi.Ma.'alH4480 H4605the chamberלְלִשְׁכַּ֛תle.lish.KatH3957of Maaseiahמַעֲשֵׂיָ֥הוּma.'a.se.Ya.huH4641the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Shallumשַׁלֻּ֖םsha.LumH7967,the doorkeeperשֹׁמֵ֥ר הַסַּֽף׃sho.Mer ha.SafH8104 H5592.

5Then I setוָאֶתֵּ֞ןva.'e.TenH5414beforeלִפְנֵ֣י׀lif.NeiH6440themenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of the houseבֵית־veit-H1004of the Rechabitesהָרֵכָבִ֗יםha.re.kha.VimH7397pitchersגְּבִעִ֛יםge.vi.'ImH1375fullמְלֵאִ֥יםme.le.'ImH4392of wineיַ֖יִןYa.yinH3196and cupsוְכֹס֑וֹתve.kho.SotH3563;and I saidוָאֹמַ֥רva.'o.MarH559to them, “Drinkשְׁתוּ־she.tu-H8354wineיָֽיִן׃Ya.yinH3196!”

6But they saidוַיֹּאמְר֖וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “We will not drinkנִשְׁתֶּה־nish.teh-H8354wineיָּ֑יִןYa.yinH3196, forJonadabH3082the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121ofRechabרֵכָ֜בre.KhavH7394,our fatherאָבִ֗ינוּ'a.Vi.nuH1,commandedצִוָּ֤הtzi.VahH6680us, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘You shallnot drinkתִשְׁתּוּ־tish.tu-H8354wineיַ֛יִןYa.yinH3196,you or your sonsוּבְנֵיכֶ֖םu.ve.nei.KhemH1121,foreverעַד־ עוֹלָֽם׃'ad- o.LamH5704 H5769.

7You shall not buildתִבְנ֗וּtiv.NuH1129a houseוּבַ֣יִתu.Va.yitH1004,and you shall not sowתִזְרָ֙עוּ֙tiz.Ra.'uH2232seedוְזֶ֤רַעve.Ze.ra'H2233and you shall not plantתִטָּ֔עוּti.Ta.'uH5193a vineyardוְכֶ֣רֶםve.Khe.remH3754or ownיִֽהְיֶ֖הyih.YehH1961one; but intentsבָּאֳהָלִ֤יםbo.'o.ha.LimH168you shall dwellתֵּֽשְׁבוּ֙te.she.VuH3427allכָּל־kol-H3605your daysיְמֵיכֶ֔םye.mei.KhemH3117,that you may liveתִּֽחְי֜וּtich.YuH2421manyרַבִּים֙ra.BimH7227daysיָמִ֤יםya.MimH3117in the landהָאֲדָמָ֔הha.'a.da.MahH127whereאֲשֶׁ֥ר שָֽׁם׃'a.Sher ShamH834 H8033yousojournגָּרִ֥יםga.RimH1481.’

8We haveobeyedוַנִּשְׁמַ֗עva.nish.Ma'H8085the voiceבְּק֨וֹלbe.KolH6963of Jonadabיְהוֹנָדָ֤בye.ho.na.DavH3082the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Rechabרֵכָב֙re.KhavH7394,our fatherאָבִ֔ינוּ'a.Vi.nuH1,in allלְכֹ֖לle.KholH3605that he commandedצִוָּ֑נוּtzi.Va.nuH6680us, not to drinkשְׁתֽוֹת־she.tot-H8354wineיַ֙יִן֙ya.yinH3196allכָּל־kol-H3605our daysיָמֵ֔ינוּya.Mei.nuH3117,we, our wivesנָשֵׁ֔ינוּna.Shei.nuH802,our sonsבָּנֵ֖ינוּba.Nei.nuH1121or our daughtersוּבְנֹתֵֽינוּ׃u.ve.no.Tei.nuH1323,

9norוּלְבִלְתִּ֛יu.le.vil.TiH1115to buildבְּנ֥וֹתbe.NotH1129ourselves housesבָּתִּ֖יםba.TimH1004to dwellלְשִׁבְתֵּ֑נוּle.shiv.Te.nuH3427in; and wedo not haveיִֽהְיֶה־yih.yeh-H1961vineyardוְכֶ֧רֶםve.Khe.remH3754or fieldוְשָׂדֶ֛הve.sa.DehH7704or seedוָזֶ֖רַעva.Ze.ra'H2233.

10We have onlydweltוַנֵּ֖שֶׁבva.Ne.shevH3427in tentsבָּֽאֳהָלִ֑יםbo.'o.ha.LimH168,and have obeyedוַנִּשְׁמַ֣עva.nish.Ma'H8085and have doneוַנַּ֔עַשׂva.Na.'asH6213according to allכְּכֹ֥לke.KholH3605thatJonadabH3082our fatherאָבִֽינוּ׃'a.Vi.nuH1commandedצִוָּ֖נוּtzi.Va.nuH6680us.

11But whenNebuchadnezzarנְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֥רne.vu.khad.re.TzarH5019kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Babylonבָּבֶל֮ba.VelH894cameבַּעֲל֨וֹתba.'a.LotH5927up againstאֶל־'el-H413the landהָאָרֶץ֒ha.'a.RetzH776,we saidוַנֹּ֗אמֶרva.No.merH559, ‘Comeבֹּ֚אוּBo.'uH935and let usgoוְנָב֣וֹאve.na.Vo'H935to Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֔םye.ru.sha.LimH3389beforeמִפְּנֵי֙mi.pe.NeiH4480 H6440the armyחֵ֣ילcheilH2428of the Chaldeansהַכַּשְׂדִּ֔יםha.kas.DimH3778and beforeוּמִפְּנֵ֖יu.mi.pe.NeiH4480 H6440the armyחֵ֣ילcheilH2428of the Arameansאֲרָ֑ם'a.RamH758.’So we have dweltוַנֵּ֖שֶׁבva.Ne.shevH3427in Jerusalemבִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ פbi.ru.sha.LimH3389.”

12Then the wordדְּבַר־de.var-H1697of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068cameוַֽיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961to Jeremiahיִרְמְיָ֖הוּyir.me.Ya.huH3414,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

13“Thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֞ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068of hostsצְבָאוֹת֙tze.va.'OtH6635,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478, ‘Goהָלֹ֤ךְha.LokhH1980and sayוְאָֽמַרְתָּ֙ve.'a.mar.TaH559to the menלְאִ֣ישׁle.'IshH376of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063and the inhabitantsוּלְיֽוֹשְׁבֵ֖יu.le.yo.she.VeiH3427of Jerusalemיְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑םye.ru.sha.LimH3389, “Will you not receiveתִקְח֥וּtik.ChuH3947instructionמוּסָ֛רmu.SarH4148by listeningלִשְׁמֹ֥עַlish.Mo.a'H8085to My wordsדְּבָרַ֖יde.va.RaiH1697?”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

15Also I have sentH7971to you allכָּל־kol-H3605Myservantsעֲבָדַ֣י'a.va.DaiH5650the prophetsהַנְּבִאִ֣ים׀ha.ne.vi.'ImH5030,sendingH7971themagainהַשְׁכֵּ֣יםhash.KeimH7925and againH7971,sayingלֵאמֹ֡רle.MorH559: ‘Turnשֻׁבוּ־shu.vu-H7725nowנָ֡אna'H4994everyH376manH376from his evilהָרָעָ֜הha.ra.'AhH7451wayמִדַּרְכּ֨וֹmi.dar.KoH1870and amendוְהֵיטִ֣יבוּve.hei.Ti.vuH3190your deedsמַֽעַלְלֵיכֶ֗םma.'a.lei.KhemH4611, anddo not goתֵּ֨לְכ֜וּte.le.KhuH1980afterאַחֲרֵ֨י'a.cha.ReiH310otherאֲחֵרִים֙'a.che.RimH312godsאֱלֹהִ֤ים'E.lo.HimH430to worshipלְעָבְדָ֔םle.'a.ve.DamH5647them. 16Indeedכִּ֣יkiH3588,the sonsבְּנֵי֙be.NeiH1121of Jonadabיְהוֹנָדָ֣בye.ho.na.DavH3082the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Rechabרֵכָ֔בre.KhavH7394haveobservedהֵקִ֗ימוּhe.Ki.muH6965the commandמִצְוַ֥תmitz.VatH4687of their fatherאֲבִיהֶ֖ם'a.vi.HemH1whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834he commandedצִוָּ֑םtzi.VamH6680them, but thisהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088peopleוְהָעָ֣םve.ha.'AmH5971has not listenedשָׁמְע֖וּsha.me.'UH8085to Me.’”’

17Thereforeלָ֠כֵןLa.khenH3651thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֨ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֤י'e.lo.HeiH430of hostsצְבָאוֹת֙tze.va.'OtH6635,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478, ‘BeholdH2009,I am bringingמֵבִ֣יאme.Vi'H935on Judahיְהוּדָ֗הye.hu.DahH3063and on allכָּל־kol-H3605the inhabitantsיֽוֹשְׁבֵי֙yo.she.VeiH3427of Jerusalemיְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םye.Ru.sha.LimH3389allכָּל־kol-H3605the disasterH7463that I have pronouncedדִּבַּ֖רְתִּיdi.Bar.tiH1696againstעֲלֵיהֶ֑ם'a.lei.HemH5921them; becauseיַ֣עַןYa.'anH3282Ispokeדִּבַּ֤רְתִּיdi.Bar.tiH1696to them but they did not listenשָׁמֵ֔עוּsha.Me.'uH8085,and I have calledוָאֶקְרָ֥אva.'ek.Ra'H7121them but they did not answerעָנֽוּ׃'a.NuH6030.’”
