Ecclesiastes 3

Darby Bible

1To everythingH3605 there is a season, and a timeH6256 to every purpose under the heavensH8064: 2A timeH6256 to be bornH3205, and a timeH6256 to dieH4191; A timeH6256 to plantH5193, and a timeH6256 to pluck up that which is plantedH5193; 3A timeH6256 to killH2026, and a timeH6256 to healH7495; A timeH6256 to breakH6555 down, and a timeH6256 to buildH1129 up; 4A timeH6256 to weepH1058, and a timeH6256 to laughH7832; A timeH6256 to mournH5594, and a timeH6256 to dance; 5A timeH6256 to castH7993 awayH7993 stonesH68, and a timeH6256 to gatherH3664 stonesH68 together; A timeH6256 to embraceH2263, and a timeH6256 to refrain from embracingH2263; 6A timeH6256 to seekH1245, and a timeH6256 to lose; A timeH6256 to keepH8104, and a timeH6256 to castH7993 awayH7993; 7A timeH6256 to rend, and a timeH6256 to sewH8609; A timeH6256 to keep silence, and a timeH6256 to speakH1696; 8A timeH6256 to loveH157, and a timeH6256 to hateH8130; A timeH6256 of warH4421, and a timeH6256 of peaceH7965. 9What profitH3504 hath he that worketh from that wherein he laboureth? 10I have seenH7200 the travail that 1GodH430 hath givenH5414 to the sonsH1121 of menH120 to toil in. 11He hath madeH6213 everythingH3605 beautifulH3303 in its timeH6256; alsoH1571 he hath setH5414 the world in their heartH3820, so that manH120 findeth not out from the beginning to the endH5490 the workH4639 that 2GodH430 doeth. 12I knowH3045 that there is nothingH369 goodH2896 for them but to rejoiceH8055 and to do well in their lifeH2416; 13yea alsoH1571 that every manH120 should eatH398 and drinkH8354, and enjoy goodH2896 in all his labour, it is the giftH4991 of 3GodH430. 14I knowH3045 that whatever 4GodH430 doeth, it shall beH1961 for everH5769; there is nothingH369 to beH1961 addedH3254 to it, nor anything to beH1961 taken from it; and 5GodH430 doeth [it], that [men] should fearH3372 before him. 15That which is wasH1961 long ago, and that which is to beH1961 hath alreadyH3528 beenH1961; and 6GodH430 bringeth back again that which is past. 16And moreover I sawH7200 under the sunH8121, that in the placeH4725 of judgmentH4941, wickednessH7562 was there; and in the placeH4725 of righteousnessH6664, wickednessH7562 was there. 17I saidH559 in my heartH3820, 7GodH430 will judgeH8199 the righteousH6662 and the wickedH7563; for there is a timeH6256 there for every purpose and for every workH4639. 18I saidH559 in my heartH3820, It is thus with the children of menH120, that 8GodH430 may prove them, and that they should seeH7200 that they themselves are but beasts. 19For what befalleth the children of menH120 befalleth beasts; even oneH259 thing befalleth them: as the oneH259 dieth, soH3651 dieth the other, and they have all oneH259 breathH7307; and manH120 hath no pre-eminence above the beast: for all is vanityH1892. 20All goH1980 unto oneH259 placeH4725: all areH1961 of the dustH6083, and all returnH7725 to dustH6083. 21Who knoweth the spiritH7307 of the children of menH120? Doth it goH5927 upwardsH4605? and the spiritH7307 of the beasts, doth it goH5927 downwards to the earthH776? 22And I have seenH7200 that there is nothingH369 betterH2896 than that manH120 should rejoiceH8055 in his own worksH4639; for that is his portionH2506; for who shall bringH935 him to seeH7200 what shall beH1961 after him?
