20Early in the morningבַבֹּ֔קֶרva.Bo.kerH1242they got upוַיַּשְׁכִּ֣ימוּvai.yash.Ki.muH7925and leftוַיֵּצְא֖וּvai.ye.tze.'UH3318for the Wildernessלְמִדְבַּ֣רle.mid.BarH4057of Tekoaתְּק֑וֹעַte.Ko.a'H8620.As they set outוּבְצֵאתָ֞םu.ve.tze.TamH3318,Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֗טye.ho.sha.FatH3092stood upעָמַ֣ד'a.MadH5975and saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “Hear meשְׁמָע֗וּנִיshe.ma.'U.niH8085,O peopleוְיֹשְׁבֵ֣יve.yo.she.VeiH3427of Judahיְהוּדָה֙ye.hu.DahH3063and Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֔םye.ru.sha.LimH3389.Believeהַאֲמִ֜ינוּha.'a.Mi.nuH539in the LORDבַּיהוָ֤הba.Yah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֵיכֶם֙'e.lo.hei.KhemH430,and you will be upheldוְתֵ֣אָמֵ֔נוּve.Te.'a.Me.nuH539;believeהַאֲמִ֥ינוּha.'a.Mi.nuH539in His prophetsבִנְבִיאָ֖יוvin.vi.'AvH5030,and you will succeedוְהַצְלִֽיחוּ׃ve.hatz.Li.chuH6743.”
21Then Jehoshaphat consultedוַיִּוָּעַץ֙vai.yi.va.'AtzH3289withאֶל־'el-H413the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971and appointed thoseוַיַּעֲמֵ֤דvai.ya.'a.MedH5975who would singמְשֹֽׁרֲרִים֙me.sho.ra.RimH7891to the LORDלַיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068and praiseוּֽמְהַֽלְלִ֖יםu.me.ha.LimH1984the splendorלְהַדְרַת־le.had.rat-H1927of His holinessקֹ֑דֶשׁKo.deshH6944.As they went outבְּצֵאת֙be.tzeTH3318beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the armyהֶֽחָל֔וּץhe.cha.LutzH2502,they were singingוְאֹֽמְרִים֙ve.'o.me.RimH559: “Give thanksהוֹד֣וּho.DuH3034to the LORDלַיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068,forכִּ֥יkiH3588His loving devotionחַסְדּֽוֹ׃chas.DoH2617endures foreverלְעוֹלָ֖םle.'o.LamH5769.”
22The momentוּבְעֵת֩u.ve.'EtH6256they beganהֵחֵ֨לּוּhe.Che.luH2490their shoutsבְרִנָּ֜הve.ri.NahH7440and praisesוּתְהִלָּ֗הu.te.hi.LahH8416,the LORDיְהוָ֣ה׀Yah.wehH3068setנָתַ֣ןna.TanH5414ambushesמְ֠אָֽרְבִיםMe.'a.re.vimH693against the menעַל־'al-H5921of Ammonבְּנֵ֨י עַמּ֜וֹןbe.Nei a.MonH1121H5983,Moabמוֹאָ֧בmo.'AvH4124,and Mountוְהַר־ve.har-H2022Seirשֵׂעִ֛ירse.'IrH8165who had comeהַבָּאִ֥יםha.ba.'ImH935against Judahלִֽיהוּדָ֖הli.hu.DahH3063,and they were defeatedוַיִּנָּגֵֽפוּ׃vai.yi.na.Ge.fuH5062.
23The Ammonitesבְּנֵ֨י עַמּ֧וֹןbe.Nei a.MonH1121H5983and Moabitesוּמוֹאָ֛בu.mo.'AvH4124rose upוַ֠יַּֽעַמְדוּVai.ya.'am.duH5975againstעַל־'al-H5921the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵ֥יyo.she.VeiH3427of Mountהַר־har-H2022Seirשֵׂעִ֖ירse.'IrH8165,devoting themלְהַחֲרִ֣יםle.ha.cha.RimH2763to destructionוּלְהַשְׁמִ֑ידu.le.hash.MidH8045.And when they had finished offוּכְכַלּוֹתָם֙u.khe.kha.lo.TamH3615the inhabitantsבְּיוֹשְׁבֵ֣יbe.yo.she.VeiH3427of Seirשֵׂעִ֔ירse.'IrH8165,they helpedעָזְר֥וּ'a.ze.RuH5826to destroyלְמַשְׁחִֽית׃le.mash.ChitH4889oneאִישׁ־'ish-H376anotherבְּרֵעֵ֖הוּbe.re.'E.huH7453.
24When the men of Judahוִֽיהוּדָ֛הvi.hu.DahH3063cameבָּ֥אba'H935toעַל־'al-H5921a place overlookingהַמִּצְפֶּ֖הha.mitz.PehH4707the wildernessלַמִּדְבָּ֑רla.mid.BarH4057,they lookedוַיִּפְנוּ֙vai.yif.NuH6437forאֶל־'el-H413the vast armyהֶ֣הָמ֔וֹןhe.ha.MonH1995,but thereוְהִנָּ֧םve.hi.NamH2005were only corpsesפְּגָרִ֛יםpe.ga.RimH6297lyingנֹפְלִ֥יםno.fe.LimH5307on the groundאַ֖רְצָה'Ar.tzahH776;no oneוְאֵ֥יןve.'EinH369had escapedפְּלֵיטָֽה׃pe.lei.TahH6413.
25Then Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֣טye.ho.sha.FatH3092and his peopleוְעַמּוֹ֮ve.'a.MoH5971wentוַיָּבֹ֨אvai.ya.Vo'H935to carry offלָבֹ֣זla.VozH962אֶת־'et-H853the plunderשְׁלָלָם֒she.la.LamH7998,and they foundוַיִּמְצְאוּ֩vai.yim.tze.'UH4672on the bodiesוּפְגָרִים֙u.fe.ga.RimH6297an abundanceלָרֹ֜בla.RoH7230of goodsוּרְכ֤וּשׁu.re.KhushH7399and valuablesוּכְלֵ֣יu.khe.LeiH2532H3627וַיְנַצְּל֥וּvay.na.tze.LuH5337—more thanלְאֵ֣יןle.'EinH369they could carry awayמַשָּׂ֑אma.Sa'H4853.They wereוַיִּֽהְי֞וּvai.yih.YuH1961gatheringבֹּזְזִ֥יםbo.ze.ZimH962אֶת־'et-H853the plunderהַשָּׁלָ֖לha.sha.LalH7998for threeשְׁלוֹשָׁ֛הshe.lo.ShahH7969daysיָמִ֧יםya.MimH3117becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588there was so muchרַב־ הֽוּא׃rav- Hu'H7227H1931.
26On the fourthהָרְבִעִ֗יha.re.vi.'IH7243dayוּבַיּ֣וֹםu.vai.YomH3117they assembledנִקְהֲלוּ֙nik.ha.LuH6950in the Valleyלְעֵ֣מֶקle.'E.mekH6010of Beracahבְּרָכָ֔הbe.ra.KhahH1294,כִּי־ki-H3588whereשָׁ֖םshamH8033they blessedבֵּרֲכ֣וּbe.ra.KhuH1288אֶת־'et-H853the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.Thereforeעַל־ כֵּ֡ן'al- kenH5921H3651thatהַה֛וּאha.Hu'H1931placeהַמָּק֥וֹםha.ma.KomH4725is calledקָֽרְא֞וּka.re.'UH7121אֶת־'et-H853שֵׁ֨םshemH8034the Valleyעֵ֥מֶק'E.mekH6010of Beracahבְּרָכָ֖הbe.ra.KhahH1294toעַד־'ad-H5704this dayהַיּֽוֹם׃hai.YomH3117.
27Then allכָּל־kol-H3605the menאִ֨ישׁ'ishH376of Judahיְהוּדָ֤הye.hu.DahH3063and Jerusalemוִֽירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙vi.ru.sha.LimH3389וַ֠יָּשֻׁבוּVai.ya.shu.vuH7725,with Jehoshaphatוִֽיהוֹשָׁפָ֣טvi.ho.sha.FatH3092at their headבְּרֹאשָׁ֔םbe.ro.ShamH7218,returnedלָשׁ֥וּבla.ShuvH7725joyfullyבְּשִׂמְחָ֑הbe.sim.ChahH8057toאֶל־'el-H413Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֖םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,forכִּֽי־ki-H3588the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068had made them rejoiceשִׂמְּחָ֥םsi.me.ChamH8055over their enemiesמֵֽאוֹיְבֵיהֶֽם׃Me.'oy.vei.HemH341.
29And the fearפַּ֣חַדPa.chadH6343of Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430cameוַיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961uponעַ֖ל'alH5921allכָּל־kol-H3605the kingdomsמַמְלְכ֣וֹתmam.le.KhotH4467of the landsהָאֲרָצ֑וֹתha.'a.ra.TzotH776when they heardבְּשָׁמְעָ֕םbe.sha.me.'AmH8085thatכִּ֚יkiH3588the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068had foughtנִלְחַ֣םnil.ChamH3898againstעִ֖ם'imH5973the enemiesאוֹיְבֵ֥י'oy.VeiH341of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.
31So Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֖טye.ho.sha.FatH3092reignedוַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְvai.yim.LokhH4427overעַל־'al-H5921Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063.He was thirty-fiveשְׁלֹשִׁים֩ וְחָמֵ֨שׁshe.lo.Shim ve.cha.MeshH7970H2568years oldבֶּן־ שָׁנָ֜הben- sha.NahH1121H8141when he became kingבְּמָלְכ֗וֹbe.ma.le.KhoH4427,and he reignedמָלַ֣ךְma.LakhH4427in Jerusalemבִּֽירוּשָׁלִַ֔םbi.ru.sha.LimH3389twenty-fiveוְעֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְחָמֵ֤שׁve.'es.Rim ve.cha.MeshH6242H2568yearsשָׁנָה֙sha.NahH8141.His mother’sאִמּ֔וֹ'i.MoH517nameוְשֵׁ֣םve.ShemH8034was Azubahעֲזוּבָ֖ה'a.zu.VahH5806daughterבַּת־bat-H1323of Shilhiשִׁלְחִֽי׃shil.ChiH7977.
32And Jehoshaphat walkedוַיֵּ֗לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980in the wayבְּדֶ֛רֶךְbe.De.rekhH1870of his fatherאָבִ֥יו'a.VivH1Asaאָסָ֖א'a.Sa'H609and did notוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808turn awayסָ֣רsarH5493from itמִמֶּ֑נָּהmi.Me.nahH4480;he didלַעֲשׂ֥וֹתla.'a.SotH6213what was rightהַיָּשָׁ֖רhai.ya.SharH3477in the eyesבְּעֵינֵ֥יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.
33The high placesהַבָּמ֖וֹתha.ba.MotH1116,howeverאַ֥ךְ'akhH389,were notלֹא־lo'-H3808removedסָ֑רוּSa.ruH5493;the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971had notלֹא־lo'-H3808yetוְע֤וֹדve.'odH5750setהֵכִ֣ינוּhe.Khi.nuH3559their heartsלְבָבָ֔םle.va.VamH3824on the Godלֵאלֹהֵ֖יle.lo.HeiH430of their fathersאֲבֹתֵיהֶֽם׃'a.vo.tei.HemH1.
