Joshua 22:24-29
24and if we have not rather out of carefulness done this, and of purpose, sayingH559, In timeH4279 to come your children might speak unto our children, sayingH559, What have ye to do with Jehovah, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478? 25for Jehovah hath madeH5414 the JordanH3383 a borderH1366 between us and you, ye children of ReubenH7205 and children of GadH1410; ye have no portionH2506 in Jehovah: so might your children makeH5414 our children cease from fearing Jehovah. 26Therefore we saidH559, Let us now prepare to buildH1129 us an altarH4196, not for burnt-offering, nor for sacrificeH2077: 27but it shall be a witnessH5707 between us and you, and between our generationsH1755 after us, that we may do the serviceH5656 of Jehovah before him with our burnt-offerings, and with our sacrificesH2077, and with our peace-offerings; that your children may not sayH559 to our children in timeH4279 to come, Ye have no portionH2506 in Jehovah. 28Therefore saidH559 we, It shall beH1961, when they so sayH559 to us or to our generationsH1755 in timeH4279 to come, that we shall sayH559, Behold the patternH8403 of the altarH4196 of Jehovah, which our fathersH1 madeH6213, not for burnt-offering, nor for sacrificeH2077; but it is a witnessH5707 between us and you. 29FarH2486 be it from us that we should rebelH4775 against Jehovah, and turnH7725 awayH7725 this dayH3117 from following Jehovah, to buildH1129 an altarH4196 for burnt-offering, for meal-offering, or for sacrificeH2077, besides the altarH4196 of Jehovah our GodH430 that is before his tabernacleH4908.
