Joshua 2
1And JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126 sentH7971 out of ShittimH7851 twoH8147 menH376 as spiesH7270 secretly, sayingH559, GoH935, view the landH776, and JerichoH3405. And they wentH935 and cameH935 into the houseH1004 of a harlot whose nameH8034 was RahabH7343, and layH7901 there. 2And it was told the kingH4428 of JerichoH3405, sayingH559, Behold, there cameH935 menH376 in hither to-night of the children of IsraelH3478 to search out the landH776. 3And the kingH4428 of JerichoH3405 sentH7971 unto RahabH7343, sayingH559, BringH935 forthH3318 the menH376 that are comeH935 to thee, that are entered into thy houseH1004; for they are comeH935 to search out all the landH776. 4And the womanH802 tookH3947 the twoH8147 menH376, and hidH6845 them; and she saidH559, Yea, the menH376 cameH935 unto me, but I knewH3045 not whence they were: 5and it came to pass about the time of the shutting of the gateH8179, when it wasH1961 dark, that the menH376 wentH1980 out; whither the menH376 wentH1980 I knowH3045 not: pursueH7291 after them quicklyH4118; for ye will overtakeH5381 them. 6But she had broughtH5927 them up to the roofH1406, and hidH2934 them with the stalks of flaxH6593, which she had laid in order upon the roofH1406. 7And the menH376 pursuedH7291 after them the wayH1870 to the JordanH3383 unto the fords: and as soon as they that pursuedH7291 after them were goneH3318 out, they shutH5462 the gateH8179.
8And before they were laidH7901 downH7901, she cameH5927 up unto them upon the roofH1406; 9and she saidH559 unto the menH376, I knowH3045 that Jehovah hath givenH5414 you the landH776, and that the fear of you is fallenH5307 upon us, and that all the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776 meltH4127 away before you. 10For we have heardH8085 how Jehovah driedH3001 up the waterH4325 of the Red SeaH3220 before you, when ye cameH3318 out of EgyptH4714; and what ye did unto the twoH8147 kingsH4428 of the AmoritesH567, that were beyond the JordanH3383, unto SihonH5511 and to OgH5747, whom ye utterly destroyed. 11And as soon as we had heardH8085 it, our heartsH3824 did meltH4549, neither did there remain any more spiritH7307 in any manH376, because of you: for Jehovah your GodH430, he is GodH430 in heavenH8064 above, and on earthH776 beneath. 12NowH6258 thereforeH6258, I pray you, swearH7650 unto me by Jehovah, since I have dealt kindly with you, that ye alsoH1571 will deal kindly with my father’sH1 houseH1004, and giveH5414 me a true token; 13and that ye will save aliveH2421 my fatherH1, and my motherH517, and my brethren, and my sistersH269, and all that they have, and will deliverH5337 our livesH5315 from deathH4194. 14And the menH376 saidH559 unto her, Our lifeH5315 for yours, if ye utter not this our business; and it shall beH1961, when Jehovah giveth us the landH776, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.
15Then she let them downH3381 by a cordH2256 through the windowH2474: for her houseH1004 was upon the sideH7023 of the wallH2346, and she dweltH3427 upon the wallH2346. 16And she saidH559 unto them, Get you to the mountainH2022, lestH6435 the pursuersH7291 light upon you; and hideH2247 yourselves there threeH7969 daysH3117, until the pursuersH7291 be returnedH7725: and afterward may ye goH7725 your wayH1870. 17And the menH376 saidH559 unto her, We will be guiltless of this thine oathH7621 which thou hast madeH7650 us to swearH7650. 18Behold, whenH834 we comeH935 into the landH776, thou shalt bindH7194 this line of scarletH8144 threadH2339 in the windowH2474 which thou didst let us downH3381 by: and thou shalt gatherH622 unto thee into the houseH1004 thy fatherH1, and thy motherH517, and thy brethren, and all thy father’sH1 householdH1004. 19And it shall beH1961, that whosoever shall goH3318 out of the doorsH1817 of thy houseH1004 into the streetH2351, his bloodH1818 shall beH1961 upon his headH7218, and we shall beH1961 guiltless: and whosoever shall beH1961 with thee in the houseH1004, his bloodH1818 shall beH1961 on our headH7218, if any handH3027 beH1961 upon him. 20But if thou utter this our business, then we shall beH1961 guiltless of thine oathH7621 which thou hast madeH7650 us to swearH7650. 21And she saidH559, According unto your wordsH1697, soH3651 be it. And she sentH7971 them awayH7971, and they departed: and she boundH7194 the scarletH8144 line in the windowH2474.
22And they wentH935, and cameH935 unto the mountainH2022, and abode there threeH7969 daysH3117, until the pursuersH7291 were returnedH7725: and the pursuersH7291 soughtH1245 them throughout all the wayH1870, but foundH4672 them not. 23Then the twoH8147 menH376 returnedH7725, and descended from the mountainH2022, and passedH5674 over, and cameH935 to JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126; and they told him all that had befallen them. 24And they saidH559 unto JoshuaH3091, Truly Jehovah hath delivered into our handsH3027 all the landH776; and moreover all the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776 do meltH4127 awayH4127 before us.
