Joshua 23
American Standard Version
1And it cameH935 to pass after manyH7227 daysH3117, when Jehovah had givenH5117 restH5117 unto IsraelH3478 from all their enemiesH341 roundH5439 about, and JoshuaH3091 wasH1961 oldH2204 and well stricken in years; 2that JoshuaH3091 calledH7121 for all IsraelH3478, for their eldersH2205 and for their headsH7218, and for their judgesH8199 and for their officersH7860, and saidH559 unto them, I am oldH2205 and well stricken in years: 3and ye have seenH7200 all that Jehovah your GodH430 hath done unto all these nationsH1471 because of you; for Jehovah your GodH430, he it is that hath foughtH3898 for you. 4Behold, I have allotted unto you these nationsH1471 that remainH7604, to be an inheritanceH5159 for your tribesH7626, from the JordanH3383, with all the nationsH1471 that I have cutH3772 off, even unto the greatH1419 seaH3220 toward the going downH5307 of the sunH8121. 5And Jehovah your GodH430, he will thrust them out from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possessH3423 their landH776, as Jehovah your GodH430 spake unto you. 6Therefore be ye veryH3966 courageous to keepH8104 and to do all that is writtenH3789 in the bookH5612 of the lawH8451 of MosesH4872, that ye turnH5493 not asideH5493 therefrom to the rightH3225 handH3225 or to the left; 7that ye comeH935 not among these nationsH1471, these that remainH7604 among you; neither make mention of the nameH8034 of their godsH430, nor cause to swearH7650 by them, neither serveH5647 them, nor bowH7812 downH7812 yourselves unto them; 8but cleave unto Jehovah your GodH430, as ye have done unto this dayH3117. 9For Jehovah hath driven out from before you greatH1419 nationsH1471 and strong: but as for you, no manH376 hath stoodH5975 before you unto this dayH3117. 10OneH259 manH376 of you shall chase a thousandH505; for Jehovah your GodH430, he it is that fighteth for you, as he spake unto you. 11TakeH8104 good heedH8104 therefore unto yourselves, that ye loveH157 Jehovah your GodH430. 12Else if ye do at all goH935 backH7725, and cleave unto the remnantH7604 of these nationsH1471, even these that remainH7604 among you, and make marriages with them, and goH935 in unto them, and they to you; 13knowH3045 for a certainty that Jehovah your GodH430 will no more drive these nationsH1471 from out of your sight; but they shall beH1961 a snareH4170 and a trap unto you, and a scourge in your sidesH6654, and thorns in your eyesH5869, until ye perishH6 from off this goodH2896 landH127 which Jehovah your GodH430 hath givenH5414 you.
14And, behold, this dayH3117 I am goingH1980 the wayH1870 of all the earthH776: and ye knowH3045 in all your heartsH3824 and in all your soulsH5315, that not oneH259 thingH1697 hath failed of all the goodH2896 thingsH1697 which Jehovah your GodH430 spake concerning you; all are comeH935 to pass unto you, not oneH259 thingH1697 hath failed thereof. 15And it shall comeH935 to pass, that as all the goodH2896 thingsH1697 are comeH935 upon you of which Jehovah your GodH430 spake unto you, soH3651 will Jehovah bringH935 upon you all the evilH7451 thingsH1697, until he have destroyedH8045 you from off this goodH2896 landH127 which Jehovah your GodH430 hath givenH5414 you. 16WhenH834 ye transgressH5674 the covenantH1285 of Jehovah your GodH430, which he commandedH6680 you, and goH1980 and serveH5647 otherH312 godsH430, and bowH7812 downH7812 yourselves to them; then will the angerH639 of Jehovah be kindled against you, and ye shall perishH6 quicklyH4120 from off the goodH2896 landH776 which he hath givenH5414 unto you.
