Joshua 14
American Standard Version
1And these are the inheritances which the children of IsraelH3478 took in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, which EleazarH499 the priestH3548, and JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, and the headsH7218 of the fathers’H1 houses of the tribesH4294 of the children of IsraelH3478, distributed unto them, 2by the lotH1486 of their inheritanceH5159, as Jehovah commandedH6680 by MosesH4872, for the nineH8672 tribesH4294, and for the half-tribe. 3For MosesH4872 had givenH5414 the inheritanceH5159 of the twoH8147 tribesH4294 and the half-tribe beyond the JordanH3383: but unto the LevitesH3881 he gaveH5414 no inheritanceH5159 among them. 4For the children of JosephH3130 wereH1961 twoH8147 tribesH4294, ManassehH4519 and EphraimH669: and they gaveH5414 no portionH2506 unto the LevitesH3881 in the landH776, save citiesH5892 to dwellH3427 in, with the suburbs thereof for their cattle and for their substance. 5As Jehovah commandedH6680 MosesH4872, so the children of IsraelH3478 did; and they dividedH2505 the landH776.
6Then the children of JudahH3063 drewH5066 nigh unto JoshuaH3091 in GilgalH1537: and CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312 the KenizziteH7074 saidH559 unto him, Thou knowest the thingH1697 that Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872 the manH376 of GodH430 concerning me and concerning thee in Kadesh-barneaH6947. 7FortyH705 yearsH8141 old was I whenH834 MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of Jehovah sentH7971 me from Kadesh-barneaH6947 to spyH7270 out the landH776; and I broughtH7725 him wordH1697 again as it was in my heartH3824. 8Nevertheless my brethren that wentH5927 up with me made the heartH3820 of the peopleH5971 meltH4529; but I wholly followed Jehovah my GodH430. 9And MosesH4872 sware on that dayH3117, sayingH559, Surely the landH776 whereon thy footH7272 hath troddenH1869 shall beH1961 an inheritanceH5159 to thee and to thy children for everH5769, because thou hast wholly followed Jehovah my GodH430. 10And nowH6258, behold, Jehovah hath kept me aliveH2421, as he spake, these fortyH705 and fiveH2568 yearsH8141, from the time that Jehovah spake this wordH1697 unto MosesH4872, while IsraelH3478 walkedH1980 in the wildernessH4057: and nowH6258, lo, I am this dayH3117 fourscore and fiveH2568 yearsH8141 old. 11As yetH5750 I am as strongH2389 this dayH3117 as I was in the dayH3117 that MosesH4872 sentH7971 me: as my strengthH3581 was thenH227, even so is my strengthH3581 nowH6258, for warH4421, and to goH3318 out and to comeH935 in. 12NowH6258 thereforeH6258 giveH5414 me this hill-country, whereof Jehovah spake in that dayH3117; for thou heardest in that dayH3117 how the Anakim were there, and citiesH5892 greatH1419 and fortifiedH1219: it may be that Jehovah will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as Jehovah spake.
13And JoshuaH3091 blessedH1288 him; and he gaveH5414 HebronH2275 unto CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312 for an inheritanceH5159. 14ThereforeH3651 HebronH2275 becameH1961 the inheritanceH5159 of CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312 the KenizziteH7074 unto this dayH3117; because that he wholly followed Jehovah, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478. 15Now the nameH8034 of HebronH2275 beforetime was Kiriath-arbaH7153; which Arba was the greatestH1419 manH120 among the Anakim. And the landH776 had rest from warH4421.
