Exodus 17:2-7
2Wherefore the peopleH5971 strove with MosesH4872, and saidH559, GiveH5414 us waterH4325 that we may drinkH8354. And MosesH4872 saidH559 unto them, WhyH4100 strive ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt Jehovah? 3And the peopleH5971 thirsted there for waterH4325; and the peopleH5971 murmured against MosesH4872, and saidH559, Wherefore hast thou broughtH5927 us up out of EgyptH4714, to killH4191 us and our children and our cattle with thirstH6772? 4And MosesH4872 criedH6817 unto Jehovah, sayingH559, What shall I do unto this peopleH5971? they are almost ready to stoneH5619 me. 5And Jehovah saidH559 unto MosesH4872, PassH5674 on before the peopleH5971, and takeH3947 with thee of the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478; and thy rodH4294, wherewith thou smotest the riverH2975, takeH3947 in thy handH3027, and goH1980. 6Behold, I will standH5975 before thee there upon the rockH6697 in HorebH2722; and thou shalt smite the rockH6697, and there shall comeH3318 waterH4325 out of it, that the peopleH5971 may drinkH8354. And MosesH4872 did soH3651 in the sight of the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478. 7And he calledH7121 the nameH8034 of the placeH4725 MassahH4532, and MeribahH4809, because of the striving of the children of IsraelH3478, and because they tempted Jehovah, sayingH559, Is Jehovah among us, or not?
