Exodus 1:15-19
15And the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 spake to the HebrewH5680 midwives, of whom the nameH8034 of the oneH259 was Shiphrah, and the nameH8034 of the other Puah: 16and he saidH559, When ye do the office of a midwife to the HebrewH5680 women, and seeH7200 them upon the birth-stool; if it be a sonH1121, then ye shall killH4191 him; but if it be a daughterH1323, then she shall live. 17But the midwives fearedH3372 GodH430, and did not as the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 commanded them, but saved the men-children aliveH2421. 18And the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 calledH7121 for the midwives, and saidH559 unto them, WhyH4069 have ye done this thingH1697, and have saved the men-children aliveH2421? 19And the midwives saidH559 unto PharaohH6547, Because the HebrewH5680 womenH802 are not as the EgyptianH4713 womenH802; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwife comeH935 unto them.
