Isaiah 37:1-20

1Now 1when KingH4428 HezekiahH2396 heardH8085 the report, he toreH7167 his clothesH899, coveredH3680 himself with sackclothH8242, and enteredH935 the houseH1004 of the LordH3068. 2Then he sentH7971 2EliakimH471, whoH834 was inH5921 chargeH5921 ofH5921 the householdH1004, with 3ShebnaH7644 the scribeH5613 and the eldersH2205 of the priestsH3548, coveredH3680 with sackclothH8242, to 4IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030, the sonH1121 of AmozH531. 3And they saidH559 to him, “ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 HezekiahH2396 saysH559: ‘ThisH2088 dayH3117 is a 5dayH3117 of distressH6869, rebukeH8433, and humiliationH5007; for 6childrenH1121 have comeH935 to the pointH4866 ofH4866 birthH4866, and thereH369 isH369 noH369 strengthH3581 to 7deliverH3205 them. 4PerhapsH194 the LordH3068 your GodH430 will hearH8085 the wordsH1697 of RabshakehH7262, whomH834 his masterH113 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 has sentH7971 to 8tauntH2778 the livingH2416 GodH430, and will avengeH3198 the wordsH1697 whichH834 the LordH3068 your GodH430 has heardH8085. Therefore, offerH5375 a prayerH8605 for 9the remnantH7611 that is leftH4672.’”

5So the servantsH5650 of KingH4428 HezekiahH2396 cameH935 to IsaiahH3470. 6And IsaiahH3470 saidH559 to them, “ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 you shall sayH559 to your masterH113: ‘ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH3068 saysH559: “10Do not beH3372 afraidH3372 becauseH4480H6440 of the wordsH1697 that you have heardH8085, with whichH834 the servantsH5288 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 have blasphemedH1442 Me. 7BeholdH2009, I am going to putH5414 a spiritH7307 in him so that he will 11hearH8085 newsH8052 and 12returnH7725 to his own landH776. And I will make him fallH5307 by the swordH2719 in his own landH776.”’”

8Then RabshakehH7262 returnedH7725 and foundH4672 the king of AssyriaH804 fightingH3898 againstH5921 13LibnahH3841, for he had heardH8085 that 14the king had leftH5265 15LachishH3923. 9Now he 16heardH8085 them sayH559 regardingH5921 TirhakahH8640 kingH4428 of 1718CushH3568, “He has comeH3318 outH3318 to fightH3898 againstH854 you,” and when he heardH8085 it he sentH7971 messengersH4397 to HezekiahH2396, sayingH559, 10“ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 you shall sayH559 to HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of 19JudahH3063: ‘20Do not let your GodH430 in whomH834 you trustH982 deceiveH5378 you by sayingH559, “JerusalemH3389 will not be handedH5414H3027 overH5414 to the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804.” 1121BeholdH2009, you yourselfH859 have heardH8085 whatH834 the kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 have doneH6213 to allH3605 the landsH776, destroyingH2763 them completelyH2763. So will you be savedH5337? 12Did the godsH430 of the nationsH1471 whichH834 my fathersH1 destroyedH7843 saveH5337 them: 22GozanH1470, 23HaranH2771, RezephH7530, and the sonsH1121 of EdenH5729 whoH834 were in TelassarH8515? 13WhereH346 is the kingH4428 of HamathH2574, the kingH4428 of ArpadH774, the kingH4428 of the cityH5892 of SepharvaimH5617, and of HenaH2012 and IvvahH5755?’”

14Then HezekiahH2396 tookH3947 the 24letterH5612 from the handH3027 of the messengersH4397 and readH7121 it, and he wentH5927 upH5927 to the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and 25spreadH6566 it outH6566 beforeH6440 the LordH3068. 15HezekiahH2396 prayedH6419 to the LordH3068, sayingH559, 16“LordH3068 of armiesH6635, GodH430 of IsraelH3478, 26who is enthronedH3427 above the cherubimH3742, You are the 27GodH430, You aloneH905, of allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776. 28You madeH6213 heavenH8064 and earthH776. 1729InclineH5186 Your earH241, LordH3068, and hearH8085; openH6491 Your eyesH5869, LordH3068, and seeH7200; and 30listenH8085 to allH3605 the wordsH1697 of SennacheribH5576, who sentH7971 them to 31tauntH2778 the livingH2416 GodH430. 18TrulyH551, LordH3068, the 32kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 have laidH2717 wasteH2717 allH3605 the countriesH776 and their landsH776, 19and have thrownH5414 their godsH430 into the fireH784, for they were not godsH430 but only the 33workH4639 of humanH120 handsH3027, woodH6086 and stoneH68. So they have 34destroyedH6 them. 20But nowH6258 LordH3068, our GodH430, 35saveH3467 us from his handH3027, so that 36allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776 may knowH3045 that You aloneH905, 37LordH3068, are GodH430.”
