Visit of the Queen of Sheba
11Now when the queenH4436 of ShebaH7614 heardH8085 about the fameH8088 of SolomonH8010, she cameH935 to JerusalemH3389 to testH5254 SolomonH8010 with riddlesH2420. She had a veryH3966 largeH3515 entourageH2428, with camelsH1581 carryingH5375 balsamH1314 oilH1314 and a largeH7230 amountH7230 of goldH2091 and preciousH3368 stonesH68; and when she cameH935 to SolomonH8010, she spokeH1696 with him about everythingH3605 that was on her heartH3824. 2SolomonH8010 2answeredH5046 allH3605 her questionsH1697; nothingH3808H1697 was hiddenH5956 from SolomonH8010 whichH834 he did not 3explainH5046 to her. 3When the queenH4436 of ShebaH7614 had seenH7200 the wisdomH2451 of SolomonH8010, the houseH1004 whichH834 he had builtH1129, 4the foodH3978 at his tableH7979, the seatingH4186 of his servantsH5650, the attendanceH4612 of his ministersH8334 and their attireH4403, his cupbearersH4945 and their attireH4403, and 4his stairwayH5930 by whichH834 he wentH5927 upH5927 to the houseH1004 of the LordH3068, she was breathlessH3808H7307. 5Then she saidH559 to the kingH4428, “It was a trueH571 5storyH1697 thatH834 I heardH8085 in my own landH776 aboutH5921 your wordsH1697 and your wisdomH2451. 6But I did not believeH539 their 6storiesH1697 untilH5704H834 I cameH935 and my own eyesH5869 sawH7200 it all. And beholdH2009, not even halfH2677 of the greatnessH4768 of your wisdomH2451 was reportedH5046 to me. You have surpassedH3254 the reportH8052 that I heardH8085. 7How 7blessedH835 are your menH376, how 8blessedH835 are theseH428 servantsH5650 of yours, who standH5975 beforeH6440 you continuallyH8548 and hearH8085 your wisdomH2451! 8BlessedH1288 be the LordH3068 your GodH430 whoH834 delightedH2654 in you, 9settingH5414 you on His throneH3678 as kingH4428 for the LordH3068 your GodH430; 10because your GodH430 lovedH157 IsraelH3478, establishingH5975 them foreverH5769, He madeH5414 you kingH4428 overH5921 them, to carryH6213 outH6213 justiceH4941 and righteousnessH6666.” 9Then she gaveH5414 the kingH4428 11120H3967H6242 talentsH3603 of goldH2091 and a veryH3966 greatH7230 amount of balsamH1314 oilH1314 and preciousH3368 stonesH68; there hadH1961 neverH3808 beenH1961 balsamH1314 oilH1314 like that whichH834 the queenH4436 of ShebaH7614 gaveH5414 KingH4428 SolomonH8010.
10The servantsH5650 of HuramH2361 and the servantsH5650 of SolomonH8010 12whoH834 broughtH935 goldH2091 from OphirH211, alsoH1571 broughtH935 algumH418 treesH6086 and preciousH3368 stonesH68. 11From the algumH418 treesH418 the kingH4428 madeH6213 stepsH4546 to the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and for the king’sH4428 palaceH1004, and lyresH3658 and harpsH5035 for the singersH7891; and nothingH3808 like them was seenH7200 beforeH6440 in the landH776 of JudahH3063.
12KingH4428 SolomonH8010 gaveH5414 the queenH4436 of ShebaH7614 her everyH3605 desireH2656, whateverH834 she requestedH7592, besidesH4480H905 gifts equal to whatH834 she had broughtH935 to the kingH4428. Then she turnedH2015 and wentH1980 to her own landH776 with her servantsH5650.
Solomon’s Wealth and Power
1313Now the weightH4948 of goldH2091 thatH834 cameH935 to SolomonH8010 in oneH259 yearH8141 was 14666H8337H3967H8346 talentsH3603 of goldH2091, 14besidesH905H4480 what the tradersH376H8446 and merchantsH5503 broughtH935; and allH3605 15the kingsH4428 of ArabiaH6152 and the governorsH6346 of the countryH776 broughtH935 goldH2091 and silverH3701 to SolomonH8010. 15KingH4428 SolomonH8010 madeH6213 twoH3967 hundredH3967 largeH6793 shieldsH6793 of beatenH7819 goldH2091, 16usingH5927 sixH8337 hundredH3967 shekels of beatenH7819 goldH2091 on eachH259 largeH6793 shieldH6793. 16He made threeH7969 hundredH3967 shieldsH4043 of beatenH7819 goldH2091, 17usingH5927 threeH7969 hundredH3967 shekels of goldH2091 on eachH259 shieldH4043; and the kingH4428 putH5414 them in the houseH1004 of the forestH3293 of LebanonH3844.
17Moreover, the kingH4428 madeH6213 a greatH1419 throneH3678 of ivoryH8127, and overlaidH6823 it with pureH2889 goldH2091. 18There were sixH8337 stepsH4609 to the throneH3678 and a footstoolH3534 in goldH2091 attachedH270 to the throneH3678, and 18armsH3027 19on eachH2088 sideH2088 of the seatH4725H7675, and twoH8147 lionsH738 standingH5975 besideH681 the 20armsH3027. 19TwelveH8147H6240 lionsH738 were standingH5975 thereH8033 on the sixH8337 stepsH4609 on the oneH2088 sideH2088 and on the otherH2088; nothingH3808 likeH3651 it was madeH6213 for anyH3605 other kingdomH4467. 20AllH3605 KingH4428 Solomon’sH8010 drinkingH4945 vesselsH3627 were of goldH2091, and allH3605 the vesselsH3627 of the houseH1004 of the forestH3293 of LebanonH3844 were of pureH5458 goldH2091; silverH3701 was not consideredH2803 21valuableH3972 in the daysH3117 of SolomonH8010. 2122For the kingH4428 had shipsH591 which wentH1980 to TarshishH8659 with the servantsH5650 of HuramH2361; onceH259 every threeH7969 yearsH8141 the shipsH591 of TarshishH8659 cameH935 bringingH5375 goldH2091 and silverH3701, ivoryH8143, apesH6971, and peacocksH8500.
2223So KingH4428 SolomonH8010 becameH1431 greaterH1431 thanH4480 allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the earthH776 in wealthH6239 and wisdomH2451. 23And allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the earthH776 were seekingH1245 the presenceH6440 of SolomonH8010, to hearH8085 his wisdomH2451 whichH834 GodH430 had putH5414 in his heartH3820. 2424They were bringingH935, eachH376 of them his giftH4503: articlesH3627 of silverH3701 and goldH2091, garmentsH8008, weaponsH5402, balsamH1314 oilH1314, horsesH5483, and mulesH6505, soH1697 muchH1697 yearH8141 by yearH8141.
25Now SolomonH8010 hadH1961 25fourH702 thousandH505 stallsH723 for horsesH5483 and chariotsH4818 and twelveH8147H6240 thousandH505 horsemenH6571, and he stationedH5117 them in the chariotH7393 citiesH5892 and with the kingH4428 in JerusalemH3389. 2626He was rulerH4910 over allH3605 the kingsH4428 from the Euphrates RiverH5104 to the landH776 of the PhilistinesH6430, and as farH5704 as the borderH1366 of EgyptH4714. 2727And the kingH4428 madeH5414 silverH3701 as common as stonesH68 in JerusalemH3389, and he madeH5414 cedarsH730 as plentifulH7230 as sycamoreH8256 treesH8256 that are in the 28lowlandH8219. 2829And they were bringingH3318 horsesH5483 for SolomonH8010 from EgyptH4714 and from allH3605 countriesH776.
2930Now the restH7605 of the actsH1697 of SolomonH8010, from the firstH7223 to the lastH314, 31are they not writtenH3789 in the 32recordsH1697 of NathanH5416 the prophetH5030, in the prophecyH5016 of AhijahH281 the ShiloniteH7888, and in the visionsH2378 of 33IddoH3260 the seerH2374 concerningH5921 JeroboamH3379 the sonH1121 of NebatH5028? 3034SolomonH8010 reignedH4427 in JerusalemH3389 overH5921 allH3605 IsraelH3478 for fortyH705 yearsH8141.
Death of Solomon
31And SolomonH8010 35layH7901 downH7901 with his fathersH1 and was buriedH6912 in 36the cityH5892 of his fatherH1 DavidH1732; and his sonH1121 RehoboamH7346 reignedH4427 inH8478 his placeH8478.
