Mark 6:19-24

19AndHerodiasἩρῳδιὰςHērōdiasG2266heldG1758aG1758grudgeG1758againstG1758him and wantedἤθελενēthelenG2309to putG615him toG615deathG615,and couldἠδύνατο·ēdunatoG1410not do so;

20forHerodἩρῴδηςHērōdēsG2264wasG5399afraidἐφοβεῖτοephobeitoG5399of JohnἸωάννηνIōannēnG2491,knowingG3609that he was a righteousδίκαιονdikaionG1342and holyἅγιονhagionG40manἄνδραandraG435,and he had been protectingσυνετήρειsunetēreiG4933him. And when he heardἀκούσαςakousasG191him, he was veryπολλὰpollaG4183perplexedἠπόρει,ēporeiG639; and yet heused to enjoyἡδέωςhēdeōsG2234listeningἤκουεν.¶ēkouenG191to him.

21An opportuneεὐκαίρουeukairouG2121dayἡμέραςhēmerasG2250cameγενομένηςgenomenēsG1096whenὅτεhoteG3753HerodἩρῴδηςHērōdēsG2264,on his birthdayγενεσίοιςgenesioisG1077,heldἐποίησενepoiēsenG4160a banquetδεῖπνονdeipnonG1173for his noblesμεγιστᾶσινmegistasinG3175and militaryG5506commandersG5506,and the leadingπρώτοιςprōtoisG4413peopleG4413of GalileeΓαλιλαίαςGalilaiasG1056;

22and when the daughterθυγατρὸςthugatrosG2364ofHerodiasἩρῳδιάδοςHērōdiadosG2266herselfαὐτοῦautouG846cameG1525inG1525and dancedὀρχησαμένηςorchēsamenēsG3738,she pleasedἤρεσενēresenG700HerodἩρῴδῃHērōdēG2264andhis dinnerG4873guestsG4873;and the kingβασιλεὺςbasileusG935saidG3004to the girlκορασίῳ·korasiōG2877, “AskαἴτησόνaitēsonG154me for whateverὃ ἐὰνho eanG3739 G1437you wantθέλῃς,thelēsG2309,and I will giveδώσωdōsōG1325it to you.”

23And he sworeὤμοσενōmosenG3660to her, “Whateverὅ ἐάνho eanG3739 G1437you askαἰτήσῃςaitēsēsG154of me, I will giveδώσωdōsōG1325it to you, up tohalfἡμίσουςhēmisousG2255of my kingdomβασιλείαςbasileiasG932.”

24And she wentG1831outG1831and saidG3004to her motherμητρὶmētriG3384, “WhatτίtiG5101shall I askαἰτήσωμαι;aitēsōmaiG154for?” And she saidG3004, “The headκεφαλὴνkephalēnG2776of JohnἸωάννουIōannouG2491the Baptistβαπτίζοντος.baptizontosG907.”
