16The peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971answeredוַיַּ֤עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030and saidוַיֹּ֔אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Farחָלִ֣ילָהcha.Li.lahH2486be it from us that we would abandonמֵעֲזֹ֖בme.'a.ZoH5800the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068to serveלַעֲבֹ֖דla.'a.VodH5647otherאֲחֵרִֽים׃'a.che.RimH312godsאֱלֹהִ֥ים'E.lo.HimH430;

18The Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068droveH1644outH1644from beforeמִפָּנֵ֑ינוּmi.pa.Nei.nuH6440us allכָּל־kol-H3605the peoplesהָעַמִּ֗יםha.'a.MimH5971,even the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִ֛יha.'e.mo.RiH567who livedיֹשֵׁ֥בyo.ShevH3427in the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776.We alsoגַּם־gam-H1571will serveנַעֲבֹ֣דna.'a.VodH5647the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,for He is our Godאֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ ס'e.lo.Hei.nuH430.”

19Then Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971, “You will not beH3201ableתֽוּכְלוּ֙tu.khe.LuH3201to serveלַעֲבֹ֣דla.'a.VodH5647the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,for He is a holyקְדֹשִׁ֖יםke.do.ShimH6918Godאֱלֹהִ֥ים'E.lo.HimH430. He isa jealousקַנּ֣וֹאka.No'H7072Godאֵֽל־'el-H410;He will not forgiveיִשָּׂ֥אyi.Sa'H5375your wrongdoingלְפִשְׁעֲכֶ֖םle.fish.'a.KhemH6588or your sinsוּלְחַטֹּאותֵיכֶֽם׃u.le.cha.to.tei.KhemH2403.

20Ifכִּ֤יkiH3588you abandonתַֽעַזְבוּ֙ta.'az.VuH5800the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068and serveוַעֲבַדְתֶּ֖םva.'a.vad.TemH5647foreignנֵכָ֑רne.KharH5236godsאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430,then He will turnוְשָׁ֨בve.ShavH7725and doH7489you harmוְהֵרַ֤עve.he.Ra'H7489and destroyוְכִלָּ֣הve.khi.LahH3615you afterאַחֲרֵ֖י'a.cha.ReiH310He has doneH3190goodהֵיטִ֥יבhei.TivH3190to you.”

21And the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֑עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091, “Noלֹ֕אlo'H3808,but we will serveנַעֲבֹֽד׃na.'a.VodH5647the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068.”

22So Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971, “You are witnessesעֵדִ֤ים'e.DimH5707against yourselves thatyou have chosenבְּחַרְתֶּ֥םbe.char.TemH977for yourselves the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,to serveלַעֲבֹ֣דla.'a.VodH5647Him.” And they saidוַיֹּאמְר֖וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “We arewitnessesעֵדִֽים׃'e.DimH5707.”
