Jeremiah 49:7-22
Concerning 1EdomH112. ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068 of hostsH6635, “Is thereH369 noH369 longerH5750 anyH5750 2wisdomH2451 in 3TemanH8487? Has good counselH6098 beenH6 lostH6 to the prudentH995? Has their wisdomH2451 decayedH5628?8FleeH5127 away, turnH6437 backH6437, dwellH3427 in the depthsH6009, O inhabitantsH3427 of 4DedanH1719, For I 5will bringH935 the 6disasterH343 of EsauH6215 upon him At the timeH6256 I 7punishH6485 him.98IfH518 grape gatherersH1219 cameH935 to you, Would they not leaveH7604 gleaningsH5955? IfH518 thievesH1590 came by nightH3915, They would destroyH7843 only 9until they had enoughH1767.10But I have 10strippedH2834 EsauH6215 bareH2834, I have uncoveredH1540 his hidingH4565 placesH4565 So that he will not be ableH3201 to concealH2247 himself; His 11offspringH2233 has been destroyedH7703 along with his 12relativesH251 And his neighborsH7934, and 13he is noH369 moreH369.11LeaveH5800 your 1415orphansH3490 behindH5800, I will keepH2421 them aliveH2421; And let your 16widowsH490 trustH982 in Me.”
For thusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, “BeholdH2009, those 17whoH834 were not sentencedH4941 to drinkH8354 the 18cupH3563 will certainlyH8354 drinkH8354 it, and are you the oneH1931 who will be 19completelyH5352 acquittedH5352? You will not be acquittedH5352, but you will certainlyH8354 drinkH8354 it. 13For I have 20swornH7650 by Myself,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068, “that 21BozrahH1224 will becomeH1961 an 22objectH8047 of horrorH8047, a reproachH2781, a ruinH2721 and a curseH7045; and allH3605 its citiesH5892 will becomeH1961 perpetualH5769 ruinsH2723.”
I have 23heardH8085 a messageH8052 from the LordH3068, And an 24envoyH6735 is sentH7971 among the nationsH1471, saying, “25GatherH6908 yourselves together and comeH935 againstH5921 her, And riseH6965 up for battleH4421!”15“For beholdH2009, I have madeH5414 you smallH6996 among the nationsH1471, DespisedH959 among menH120.16As for the terrorH8606 of you, The arroganceH2087 of your heartH3820 has deceivedH5378 you, O you who liveH7931 in the cleftsH2288 of 26the 27rockH5553, Who occupyH8610 the heightH4791 of the hillH1389. ThoughH3588 you makeH1361 your nestH7064 as 28highH1361 as an eagle’sH5404, I will 29bringH3381 you downH3381 from thereH8033,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068.
“EdomH112 will becomeH1961 an 30objectH8047 of horrorH8047; everyoneH3605 who passesH5674 by it will be horrifiedH8074 and will 31hissH8319 at allH3605 its woundsH4347. 18Like the 32overthrowH4114 of SodomH5467 and GomorrahH6017 with its neighborsH7934,” saysH559 the LordH3068, “33noH3808 oneH376 will liveH3427 thereH8033, norH3808 will a sonH1121 of manH120 resideH1481 in it. 1934BeholdH2009, one will comeH5927 up like a lionH743 from the 3536thicketsH1347 of the JordanH3383 againstH413 37a perenniallyH386 watered pastureH5116; for in an instantH7280 I will make him runH7323 away from it, and whoeverH4310 is 38chosenH977 I shall appointH6485 overH413 it. For whoH4310 is 39likeH3644 Me, and whoH4310 will summonH3259 Me into court? And whoH4310 thenH2088 is the shepherdH7462 40whoH834 can standH5975 againstH6440 Me?”
ThereforeH3651 hearH8085 the 41planH6098 of the LordH3068 whichH834 He has plannedH3289 againstH413 EdomH112, and His purposesH4284 whichH834 He has purposedH2803 againstH413 the inhabitantsH3427 of TemanH8487: surelyH518H3808 they will dragH5498 them offH5498, even the littleH6810 onesH6810 of the flockH6629; surelyH518H3808 He will makeH8074 their 42pastureH5116 43desolateH8074 becauseH5921 of them. 21The 44earthH776 has quakedH7493 at the noiseH6963 of their downfallH5307. There is an outcryH6818! The noiseH6963 of it has been heardH8085 at the 45RedH5488H3220 SeaH3220. 22BeholdH2009, 46He will mountH5927 up and 47swoopH1675 like an eagleH5404 and spreadH6566 out His wingsH3671 48againstH5921 BozrahH1224; and the 49heartsH3820 of the mightyH1368 menH1368 of EdomH112 in that dayH3117 will be like the heartH3820 of a womanH802 in laborH6887.
