38“You have heardἨκούσατεĒkousateG191that it was saidG3004, ‘An eyeὀφθαλμὸνophthalmonG3788for an eyeὀφθαλμοῦophthalmouG3788,and a toothὀδόνταodontaG3599for a toothὀδόντος.odontosG3599.’

39But I sayλέγωlegōG3004to you, do not resistἀντιστῆναιantistēnaiG436an evilπονηρῷ.ponērōG4190person; butwhoeverὅστιςhostisG3748slapsῥαπίζειrhapizeiG4474you on your rightδεξιὰνdexianG1188cheekσιαγόναsiagonaG4600,turnστρέψονstrepsonG4762the otherἄλλην·allēnG243to him alsoκαὶkaiG2532.

40If anyone wantsθέλοντίthelontiG2309to sueκριθῆναιkrithēnaiG2919you and takeλαβεῖν,labeinG2983yourshirtχιτῶνάchitōnaG5509,letG863him haveG863yourcoatἱμάτιον·himationG2440alsoG2532.

41WhoeverὅστιςhostisG3748forcesἀγγαρεύσειangareuseiG29you to go oneἕν,henG1520mileμίλιονmilionG3400,goὕπαγεhupageG5217with him twoδύο.duoG1417.

42Giveδός,dosG1325to him who asksαἰτοῦντίaitountiG154of you, and do not turnἀποστραφῇς.¶apostraphēasG654awayG654from him who wantsθέλονταthelontaG2309to borrowδανίσασθαιdanisasthaiG1155from you.
