56For manyπολλοὶpolloiG4183were givingG5576falseἐψευδομαρτύρουνepseudomarturounG5576testimonyG5576againstκατ᾽kat᾽G2596Him, but their testimonyμαρτυρίαιmarturiaiG3141was not consistentἴσαιisaiG2470.

57SomeτινεςtinesG5100stoodἀναστάντεςanastantesG450up and beganto giveG5576falseἐψευδομαρτύρουνepseudomarturounG5576testimonyG5576againstκατ᾽kat᾽G2596Him, sayingλέγοντεςlegontesG3004,

58“We heardἠκούσαμενēkousamenG191Him sayλέγοντοςlegontosG3004, ‘I will destroyκαταλύσωkatalusōG2647thisτοῦτονtoutonG3778templeναὸνnaonG3485madeG5499with handsχειροποίητονcheiropoiētonG5499,and in threeτριῶνtriōnG5140daysἡμερῶνhēmerōnG2250I will buildοἰκοδομήσω.oikodomēsōG3618anotherἄλλονallonG243madeG886withoutG886handsἀχειροποίητονacheiropoiētonG886.’”

59Not evenοὐδὲoudeG3761in thisG3779respectG3779was their testimonyμαρτυρίαmarturiaG3141consistentἴσηisēG2470.

60The highἀρχιερεὺςarchiereusG749priestG749stoodἀναστὰςanastasG450up and cameforwardεἰς μέσονeis mesonG1519 G3319and questionedἐπηρώτησενepērōtēsenG1905JesusἸησοῦνIēsounG2424,sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “Do You not answerἀποκρίνῃapokrinēG611?WhatτίtiG5101is it that theseG3778menG3778are testifyingG2649againstG2649You?”

61But He keptG4623silentἐσιώπαesiōpaG4623and did not answerἀπεκρίνατοapekrinatoG611.AgainπάλινpalinG3825the highἀρχιερεὺςarchiereusG749priestG749was questioningἐπηρώταepērōtaG1905Him, andsayingλέγειlegeiG3004to Him, “Are Youthe ChristχριστὸςchristosG5547,the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of the Blessedεὐλογητοῦ;eulogētouG2128One?”

62And JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424saidG3004,“I amεἰμι,eimiG1510;and you shall seeG3708the SonυἱὸνhuionG5207of ManἀνθρώπουanthrōpouG444sittingκαθήμενονkathēmenonG2521at the rightδεξιῶνdexiōnG1188handG1188of PowerδυνάμεωςdunameōsG1411, andcomingἐρχόμενονerchomenonG2064with the cloudsνεφελῶνnephelōnG3507of heavenοὐρανοῦ.ouranouG3772.”

63TearingδιαρρήξαςdiarrēxasG1284his clothesχιτῶναςchitōnasG5509,the highἀρχιερεὺςarchiereusG749priestG749saidλέγει·legeiG3004, “WhatτίtiG5101furtherἔτιetiG2089needχρείανchreianG5532do we haveἔχομενechomenG2192of witnessesμαρτύρων;marturōnG3144?

64You have heardἠκούσατεēkousateG191theblasphemyβλασφημίας·blasphēmiasG988;howτίtiG5101does it seemφαίνεται;phainetaiG5316to you?” And they allπάντεςpantesG3956condemnedκατέκρινανkatekrinanG2632Him to be deservingἔνοχονenochonG1777of deathθανάτου.thanatouG2288.

65SomeτινεςtinesG5100beganἤρξαντόērxantoG757tospitἐμπτύεινemptueinG1716at Him, andto blindfoldπερικαλύπτεινperikalupteinG4028Him, and to beatG2852Him with their fistsG2852,and to sayλέγεινlegeinG3004to Him, “Prophesyπροφήτευσον,prophēteusonG4395!”And the officersὑπηρέταιhupēretaiG5257receivedἔλαβον.¶elabonG2983Him withslapsῥαπίσμασινrhapismasinG4475in the face.
