4ThenκαὶkaiG2532PilateΠιλᾶτοςPilatosG4091saidG3004to the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749and the crowdsὄχλους·ochlousG3793, “I findεὑρίσκωheuriskōG2147noοὐδὲνoudenG3762guiltαἴτιονaitionG159in thisτούτῳ.toutōG3778manἀνθρώπῳanthrōpōG444.”

5But they kept on insistingἐπίσχυονepischuonG2001,sayingλέγοντεςlegontesG3004, “He stirsἀνασείειanaseieiG383up the peopleλαὸνlaonG2992,teachingδιδάσκωνdidaskōnG1321allὅληςholēsG3650overκαθ᾽kath᾽G2596JudeaG2453,startingἀρξάμενοςarxamenosG757from GalileeΓαλιλαίαςGalilaiasG1056even as farἕωςhe'ōsG2193as thisG5602placeG5602.”

6WhenδὲdeG1161PilateΠιλᾶτοςPilatosG4091heardἀκούσαςakousasG191it, he askedἐπηρώτησενepērōtēsenG1905whetherεἰeiG1487the manἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444was a GalileanΓαλιλαῖόςGalilaiosG1057.

7And when he learnedἐπιγνοὺςepignousG1921that He belongedἐκekG1510 G1537to Herod’sἩρῴδουHērōdouG2264jurisdictionἐξουσίαςexousiasG1849,he sentἀνέπεμψενanepempsenG375Him toHerodἩρῴδηνHērōdēnG2264,who himselfG846alsoG2532was in JerusalemἹεροσολύμοιςHi'erosolumoisG2414at that timeἡμέραις.¶hēmeraisG2250.

8NowδὲdeG1161HerodἩρῴδηςHērōdēsG2264was veryλίαν·lianG3029gladἐχάρηecharēG5463when he sawG3708JesusἸησοῦνIēsounG2424; forhe hadἦνēnG1510wantedθέλωνthelōnG2309to seeG3708Him for a longἱκανῶνhikanōnG2425timeχρόνωνchronōnG5550,becauseδιὰdiaG1223he had been hearingἀκούεινakoueinG191aboutπερὶperiG4012Him and was hopingἤλπιζένēlpizenG1679to seeG3708someτιtiG5100signσημεῖονsēmeionG4592performedγινόμενον.ginomenonG1096by Him.

9And he questionedἐπηρώταepērōtaG1905Himat someG2425lengthλόγοιςlogoisG3056 G2425; butHe answeredἀπεκρίνατοapekrinatoG611him nothingοὐδὲνoudenG3762.

10And the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749and the scribesγραμματεῖςgrammateisG1122were standingεἱστήκεισανheistēkeisanG2476there, accusingκατηγοροῦντεςkatēgorountesG2723Him vehementlyεὐτόνωςeutonōsG2159.

11And HerodἩρῴδηςHērōdēsG2264with his soldiersστρατεύμασινstrateumasinG4753,after treatingG1848Him with contemptG1848and mockingἐμπαίξας,empaixasG1702Him,dressedπεριβαλὼνperibalōnG4016Him in a gorgeousλαμπρὰνlampranG2986robeἐσθῆταesthētaG2066and sentG375Him backἀνέπεμψενanepempsenG375to PilateΠιλάτῳ.PilatōG4091.

12NowδὲdeG1161HerodἩρῴδηςHērōdēsG2264and PilateG4091becameἐγένοντοegenontoG1096friendsφίλοιphiloiG5384with oneἀλλήλων·allēlōnG240anotherG240that veryG846dayἡμέρᾳhēmeraG2250;for beforeG4391they had beenὄντεςontesG4391 G1510enemiesἔχθρᾳechthraG2189with eachG848otherG848.

13PilateΠιλᾶτοςPilatosG4091summonedσυγκαλεσάμενοςsugkalesamenosG4779the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749and therulersἄρχονταςarchontasG758and the peopleλαὸνlaonG2992,

14and saidG3004to them, “You broughtπροσηνέγκατέprosēnegkateG4374thisτοῦτονtoutonG3778manἄνθρωπονanthrōponG444to me as one whoincitesG654the peopleλαόν·laonG2992to rebellionG654,and beholdἰδοὺidouG2400,having examinedἀνακρίναςanakrinasG350Him beforeἐνώπιονenōpionG1799you, Ihave foundεὗρονheuronG2147noοὐθὲνouthenG3762guiltαἴτιονaitionG159in thisτούτῳtoutōG3778manἀνθρώπῳanthrōpōG444regarding the chargesG2723whichὧνhōnG3739you makeG2723againstκατ᾽kat᾽G2596Him.

15Noἀλλ᾽all᾽G235,norοὐδὲoudeG3761hasHerodἩρῴδης·HērōdēsG2264,for he sentG375Him backἀνέπεμψενanepempsenG375to us; and beholdἰδοὺidouG2400,nothingοὐδὲνoudenG3762deservingἄξιονaxionG514deathθανάτουthanatouG2288has beenἐστὶνestinG1510doneπεπραγμένονpepragmenonG4238by Him.

16ThereforeοὖνounG3767I willpunishπαιδεύσαςpaideusasG3811Him and releaseἀπολύσω.apolusōG630Him.”
