6Then Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֨אלyish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָ֤הne.tan.YahH5418wentוַ֠יֵּצֵאVai.ye.tze'H3318out from Mizpahהַמִּצְפָּ֔הha.mitz.PahH4709to meetלִקְרָאתָם֙lik.ra.TamH7122them,weepingוּבֹכֶ֑הu.vo.KhehH1058as he wentH1980;and as he metכִּפְגֹ֣שׁkif.GoshH6298them, he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Comeבֹּ֖אוּBo.'uH935to Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֥הוּge.dal.Ya.huH1436the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Ahikamאֲחִיקָֽם׃ ס'a.chi.KamH296!”

7Yet it turnedוַיְהִ֕יvay.HiH1961out that as soon as they cameכְּבוֹאָ֖םke.vo.'AmH935insideH8432the cityהָעִ֑ירha.'IrH5892,Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֤אלyish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָה֙ne.tan.YahH5418and the menH376that were with himslaughteredוַיִּשְׁחָטֵ֞םvai.yish.cha.TemH7819them and cast theminto the cisternהַבּ֔וֹרha.BorH953.

8But tenוַעֲשָׂרָ֨הva.'a.sa.RahH6235menH376who were foundנִמְצְאוּ־nim.tze.'u-H4672among them saidוַיֹּאמְר֤וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵאל֙yish.ma.'eLH3458, “Do not putH4191us to deathH4191;for we haveיֶשׁ־yesh-H3426storesH4301of wheatחִטִּ֥יםchi.TimH2406,barleyוּשְׂעֹרִ֖יםu.se.'o.RimH8184,oilוְשֶׁ֣מֶןve.She.menH8081and honeyוּדְבָ֑שׁu.de.VashH1706hiddenH4301in the fieldבַּשָּׂדֶ֔הba.sa.DehH7704.”So he refrainedוַיֶּחְדַּ֕לvai.yech.DalH2308and did not putH4191them to deathH4191alongבְּת֥וֹךְbe.TokhH8432with their companionsאֲחֵיהֶֽם׃'a.chei.HemH251.

9Now as for the cisternוְהַבּ֗וֹרve.ha.BorH953whereשָׁ֤םshamH834 H8033Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵאל֙yish.ma.'eLH3458had castהִשְׁלִ֨יךְhish.LikhH7993allכָּל־kol-H3605the corpsesפִּגְרֵ֣יpig.ReiH6297of the menH376whomH834he had struckH5221downהִכָּה֙hi.KahH5221becauseבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027of Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֔הוּge.dal.Ya.huH1436, it was theone that Kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Asaאָסָ֔א'a.Sa'H609had madeעָשָׂה֙'a.SahH6213onaccountמִפְּנֵ֖יmi.pe.NeiH4480 H6440of Baashaבַּעְשָׁ֣אba'.Sha'H1201,kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478;Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֥אלyish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָ֖הוּne.tan.Ya.huH5418filledמִלֵּ֛אmi.Le'H4390it with the slainחֲלָלִֽים׃cha.la.LimH2491.
