Ruth 2
Darby Bible
1And NaomiH5281 had a relation of her husband's, a mightyH1368 manH376 of wealthH2428, of the familyH4940 of ElimelechH458, and his nameH8034 was BoazH1162. 2And RuthH7327 the Moabitess saidH559 to NaomiH5281, Let me, I pray, go to the fieldH7704 and gleanH3950 among the earsH7641 of corn after [him] in whose sight I shall findH4672 favour. And she saidH559 to her, Go, my daughterH1323. 3And she wentH935; and she cameH935 and gleanedH3950 in the fieldsH7704 after the reapers; and she chanced to light on an allotment of BoazH1162, who was of the familyH4940 of ElimelechH458. 4And behold, BoazH1162 cameH935 from Bethlehem; and he saidH559 to the reapers, Jehovah be with you! And they saidH559 to him, Jehovah blessH1288 thee! 5And BoazH1162 saidH559 to his servantH5288 that was setH5324 over the reapers, Whose maiden is this? 6And the servantH5288 that was setH5324 over the reapers answered and saidH559, It is the Moabitish maiden who came backH7725 with NaomiH5281 out of the fieldsH7704 of MoabH4124; 7and she saidH559, I pray you, let me gleanH3950 and gatherH622 among the sheaves after the reapers. And she cameH935, and has continued from the morningH1242 until nowH6258: her sittingH3427 in the houseH1004 has been littleH4592 as yet. 8And BoazH1162 saidH559 to RuthH7327, Hearest thou not, my daughterH1323? Go not to gleanH3950 in another fieldH7704, neither go from hereH2088, but keep hereH2088 with my maidens. 9Let thine eyesH5869 be on the fieldH7704 which is being reaped, and goH1980 thou after them; have I not charged the youngH5288 menH5288 not to touchH5060 thee? And whenH834 thou art athirst, goH1980 to the vesselsH3627 and drinkH8354 of what the youngH5288 menH5288 drawH7579. 10Then she fellH5307 on her faceH6440, and bowedH7812 herself to the groundH776, and saidH559 to him, WhyH4069 have I foundH4672 favour in thine eyesH5869, that thou shouldest regard me, seeing I am a foreignerH5237? 11And BoazH1162 answered and saidH559 to her, It has fully been shewn me, all that thou hast done to thy mother-in-law since the deathH4194 of thy husbandH376; and how thou hast leftH5800 thy fatherH1 and thy motherH517, and the landH776 of thy nativity, and art come to a peopleH5971 that thou hast not knownH3045 heretofore. 12Jehovah recompense thy workH6467, and let thy rewardH7999 beH1961 fullH8003 from Jehovah the 1GodH430 of IsraelH3478, under whose wingsH3671 thou art comeH935 to takeH2620 refugeH2620. 13And she saidH559, Let me findH4672 favour in thine eyesH5869, my lordH113; for that thou hast comfortedH5162 me, and for that thou hast spokenH1696 kindly to thy handmaid, though I am not like oneH259 of thy handmaidens. 14And BoazH1162 saidH559 to her at mealtime, Come hither and eatH398 of the breadH3899, and dipH2881 thy morselH6595 in the vinegarH2558. And she satH3427 beside the reapers; and he reached her parched corn, and she ateH398 and was sufficed, and reserved [some]. 15And when she roseH6965 up to gleanH3950, BoazH1162 commandedH6680 his youngH5288 menH5288, sayingH559, Let her gleanH3950 even among the sheaves, and ye shall not reproach her. 16And ye shall alsoH1571 sometimes draw out for her [some ears] out of the handfuls, and leaveH5800 them that she may gleanH3950, and rebukeH1605 her not. 17And she gleanedH3950 in the fieldH7704 until even, and beatH2251 out what she had gleanedH3950; and it wasH1961 about an ephahH374 of barleyH8184. 18And she tookH5375 [it] up, and cameH935 into the cityH5892, and her mother-in-law sawH7200 what she had gleanedH3950; and she broughtH935 forthH3318 and gaveH5414 to her that which she had reserved after she was sufficed. 19And her mother-in-law saidH559 to her, WhereH834 hast thou gleanedH3950 to-day? and whereH834 hast thou wrought? BlessedH1288 beH1961 he that did regard thee! And she toldH5046 her mother-in-law with whom she had wrought, and saidH559, The man's nameH8034 with whom I wrought to-day is BoazH1162. 20And NaomiH5281 saidH559 to her daughter-in-law, BlessedH1288 be he of Jehovah, who has not leftH5800 off his kindness to the living and to the deadH4191! And NaomiH5281 saidH559 to her, The manH376 is near of kin to us, oneH376 of those who have the right of our redemption. 21And RuthH7327 the Moabitess saidH559, He saidH559 to me alsoH1571, Thou shalt keep with my youngH5288 menH5288 until they have endedH3615 all my harvestH7105. 22And NaomiH5281 saidH559 to RuthH7327 her daughter-in-law, It is goodH2896, my daughterH1323, that thou goH3318 out with his maidens, that they meetH6293 thee not in any otherH312 fieldH7704. 23So she kept with the maidens of BoazH1162 to gleanH3950, until the endH3615 of the barley-harvest and of the wheat-harvest. And she dweltH3427 with her mother-in-law.
