Ruth 2
1And NaomiH5281 had a kinsman of her husband’sH376, a mightyH1368 manH376 of wealthH2428, of the familyH4940 of ElimelechH458, and his nameH8034 was BoazH1162. 2And RuthH7327 the Moabitess saidH559 unto NaomiH5281, Let me now go to the fieldH7704, and gleanH3950 among the earsH7641 of grainH7641 after him in whose sight I shall findH4672 favorH2580. And she saidH559 unto her, Go, my daughterH1323. 3And she wentH935, and cameH935 and gleanedH3950 in the fieldH7704 after the reapers: and her hap was to light on the portionH2513 of the fieldH7704 belonging unto BoazH1162, who was of the familyH4940 of ElimelechH458. 4And, behold, BoazH1162 cameH935 from Beth-lehem, and saidH559 unto the reapers, Jehovah be with you. And they answered him, Jehovah blessH1288 thee. 5Then saidH559 BoazH1162 unto his servantH5288 that was setH5324 over the reapers, Whose damsel is this? 6And the servantH5288 that was setH5324 over the reapers answered and saidH559, It is the Moabitish damsel that came backH7725 with NaomiH5281 out of the countryH7704 of MoabH4124: 7and she saidH559, Let me gleanH3950, I pray you, and gatherH622 after the reapers among the sheaves. So she cameH935, and hath continued even from the morningH1242 until nowH6258, save that she tarried a littleH4592 in the houseH1004.
8Then saidH559 BoazH1162 unto RuthH7327, Hearest thou not, my daughterH1323? Go not to gleanH3950 in another fieldH7704, neither passH5674 from hence, but abide hereH2088 fast by my maidens. 9Let thine eyesH5869 be on the fieldH7704 that they do reapH7114, and goH1980 thou after them: have I not charged the youngH5288 menH5288 that they shall not touchH5060 thee? and whenH834 thou art athirst, goH1980 unto the vesselsH3627, and drinkH8354 of that which the youngH5288 menH5288 have drawn. 10Then she fellH5307 on her faceH6440, and bowedH7812 herself to the groundH776, and saidH559 unto him, WhyH4069 have I foundH4672 favorH2580 in thy sight, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a foreignerH5237? 11And BoazH1162 answered and saidH559 unto her, It hath fully been showed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother-in-law since the deathH4194 of thy husbandH376; and how thou hast leftH5800 thy fatherH1 and thy motherH517, and the landH776 of thy nativity, and art come unto a peopleH5971 that thou knewest not heretofore. 12Jehovah recompense thy workH6467, and a fullH8003 rewardH7999 beH1961 given thee of Jehovah, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, under whose wingsH3671 thou art comeH935 to takeH2620 refugeH2620. 13Then she saidH559, Let me findH4672 favorH2580 in thy sight, my lordH113, for that thou hast comfortedH5162 me, and for that thou hast spokenH1696 kindly unto thy handmaid, though I beH1961 not as oneH259 of thy handmaidens.
14And at meal-time BoazH1162 saidH559 unto her, Come hither, and eatH398 of the breadH3899, and dipH2881 thy morselH6595 in the vinegarH2558. And she satH3427 beside the reapers, and they reached her parched grainH7039, and she did eatH398, and was sufficed, and leftH3498 thereof. 15And when she was risenH6965 up to gleanH3950, BoazH1162 commandedH6680 his youngH5288 menH5288, sayingH559, Let her gleanH3950 even among the sheaves, and reproach her not. 16And alsoH1571 pull out some for her from the bundles, and leaveH5800 it, and let her gleanH3950, and rebukeH1605 her not.
17So she gleanedH3950 in the fieldH7704 until even; and she beatH2251 out that which she had gleanedH3950, and it wasH1961 about an ephahH374 of barleyH8184. 18And she tookH5375 it up, and wentH3318 into the cityH5892; and her mother-in-law sawH7200 what she had gleanedH3950: and she broughtH935 forthH3318 and gaveH5414 to her that which she had leftH3498 after she was sufficed. 19And her mother-in-law saidH559 unto her, WhereH834 hast thou gleanedH3950 to-day? and whereH834 hast thou wrought? blessedH1288 beH1961 he that did take knowledge of thee. And she showed her mother-in-law with whom she had wrought, and saidH559, The man’sH376 nameH8034 with whom I wrought to-day is BoazH1162. 20And NaomiH5281 saidH559 unto her daughter-in-law, BlessedH1288 be he of Jehovah, who hath not leftH5800 off his kindness to the living and to the deadH4191. And NaomiH5281 saidH559 unto her, The manH376 is nigh of kin unto us, oneH376 of our near kinsmenH7138. 21And RuthH7327 the Moabitess saidH559, Yea, he saidH559 unto me, Thou shalt keep fast by my youngH5288 menH5288, until they have endedH3615 all my harvestH7105. 22And NaomiH5281 saidH559 unto RuthH7327 her daughter-in-law, It is goodH2896, my daughterH1323, that thou goH3318 out with his maidens, and that they meetH6293 thee not in any otherH312 fieldH7704. 23So she kept fast by the maidens of BoazH1162, to gleanH3950 unto the endH3615 of barleyH8184 harvestH7105 and of wheatH2406 harvestH7105; and she dweltH3427 with her mother-in-law.
