Darby Bible
Amos 3:5-12
Can a birdH6833 fallH5307 in a snareH4170 upon the earthH776 when no gin [is laid] for him? Will the snareH4170 spring up from the earthH776 when nothing at all hath been takenH3920?
Shall a trumpetH7782 beH1961 blownH8628 in the cityH5892, and the peopleH5971 not beH1961 afraid? Shall there beH1961 evilH7451 in a cityH5892, and Jehovah not have done [it]?
But the LordH136 Jehovah will do nothing, but he revealeth his secretH5475 unto his servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030.
The lionH738 hath roaredH7580, — who will not fearH3372? The LordH136 Jehovah hath spokenH1696, — who can but prophesyH5012?
Publish in the palaces at AshdodH795, and in the palaces in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and sayH559, Assemble yourselves upon the mountainsH2022 of SamariaH8111, and behold the greatH7227 uproar in the midstH8432 thereof, and the oppressionsH6217 that are within her:
and they knowH3045 not to do right, saith Jehovah, who store up violenceH2555 and plunder in their palaces.
ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: An adversary! — even roundH5439 about the landH776! And he shall bringH3381 down thy strengthH5797 from thee, and thy palaces shall be pillaged.
ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: Like as the shepherdH7462 rescueth out of the jaw of the lionH738 twoH8147 legsH3767, or a piece of an earH241; soH3651 shall the children of IsraelH3478 be rescuedH5337 that sitH3427 in SamariaH8111 in the cornerH6285 of a couchH4296, and upon the damask of a bedH4296.
