1 Behold , a king מֶ֑לֶךְ Me.lekh H4428 shall reign יִמְלָךְ־ yim.lokh- H4427 in righteousness לְצֶ֖דֶק le.Tze.dek H6664 , and princes H8269 shall rule יָשֹֽׂרוּ׃ ya.So.ru H8323 in judgment H4941 . 2 And a man H376 shall be וְהָיָה־ ve.ha.yah- H1961 as a hiding-place from the wind ר֖וּחַ Ru.ach H7307 , and a covert from the storm H2230 ; as brooks of water מַ֣יִם Ma.yim H4325 in a dry בְּצָי֔וֹן be.tza.Yon H6724 place , as the shadow כְּצֵ֥ל ke.Tzel H6738 of a great rock סֶֽלַע־ se.la'- H5553 in a thirsty land בְּאֶ֥רֶץ be.'E.retz H776 . 3 And the eyes עֵינֵ֣י 'ei.Nei H5869 of them that see רֹאִ֑ים ro.'Im H7200 shall not be dim, and the ears וְאָזְנֵ֥י ve.'a.ze.Nei H241 of them that hear שֹׁמְעִ֖ים sho.me.'Im H8085 shall hearken; 4 and the heart וּלְבַ֥ב u.le.Vav H3824 of the rash shall understand יָבִ֣ין ya.Vin H995 knowledge , and the tongue וּלְשׁ֣וֹן u.le.Shon H3956 of the stammerers shall be ready to speak לְדַבֵּ֥ר le.da.Ber H1696 plainly. 5 The vile man shall be no more called יִקָּרֵ֥א yi.ka.Re' H7121 noble נָדִ֑יב na.Div H5081 , nor the churl said H559 to be bountiful: 6 for the vile man will speak H1696 villainy, and his heart וְלִבּ֖וֹ ve.li.Bo H3820 will work iniquity , to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against Jehovah , to make H6213 empty the soul H5315 of the hungry רָעֵ֔ב ra.'Ev H7457 , and to cause the drink of the thirsty צָמֵ֖א tza.Me' H6771 to fail. 7 The instruments H3627 also of the churl are evil רָעִ֑ים ra.'Im H7451 : he deviseth wicked H7451 devices to destroy the meek with lying H8267 words בְּאִמְרֵי־ be.'im.rei- H561 , even when the needy אֶבְי֖וֹן 'ev.Yon H34 speaketh right H4941 . 8 But the noble וְנָדִ֖יב ve.na.Div H5081 deviseth noble נְדִיב֣וֹת ne.di.Vot H5081 things; and to noble נְדִיב֥וֹת ne.di.Vot H5081 things doth he stand H6965 . 10 In a year שָׁנָ֔ה sha.Nah H8141 and [ some ] days יָמִים֙ ya.Mim H3117 shall ye be troubled , ye careless women; for the vintage shall fail כָּלָ֣ה ka.Lah H3615 , the ingathering shall not come יָבֽוֹא׃ ya.Vo' H935 . 11 Tremble H7264 , ye women that are at ease H7600 ; be troubled , ye careless ones; strip פְּשֹׁ֣טָֽה pe.Sho.tah H6584 you , and make you bare, and gird וַחֲג֖וֹרָה va.cha.Go.rah H2296 [sackcloth] on your loins חֲלָצָֽיִם׃ cha.la.Tza.yim H2504 ! 12 They shall smite on the breasts שָׁדַ֖יִם sha.Da.yim H7699 [ in lamentation] for the pleasant fields שְׂדֵי־ se.dei- H7704 , for the fruitful פֹּרִיָּֽה׃ po.ri.Yah H6509 vineyards. 13 Upon the land אַדְמַ֣ת 'ad.Mat H127 of my people עַמִּ֔י 'a.Mi H5971 shall come H5927 up thistles [ and ] briars , yea , upon all the houses H1004 of joy מָשׂ֔וֹשׂ ma.Sos H4885 in the joyous city . 15 until the Spirit ר֖וּחַ Ru.ach H7307 be H1961 poured יֵ֨עָרֶ֥ה ye.'a.Reh H6168 upon us from on high מִמָּר֑וֹם mi.ma.Rom H4791 , and the wilderness מִדְבָּר֙ mid.Bar H4057 become וְהָיָ֤ה ve.ha.Yah H1961 a fruitful field , and the fruitful field be H1961 counted for a forest לַיַּ֥עַר lai.Ya.'ar H3293 . 16 And judgment H4941 shall inhabit H3427 the wilderness בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר ba.mid.Bar H4057 , and righteousness וּצְדָקָ֖ה u.tze.da.Kah H6666 dwell H3427 in the fruitful field . 17 And the work מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה ma.'a.Seh H4639 of righteousness הַצְּדָקָ֖ה ha.tze.da.Kah H6666 shall be וְהָיָ֛ה ve.ha.Yah H1961 peace שָׁל֑וֹם sha.Lom H7965 ; and the effect of righteousness הַצְּדָקָ֔ה ha.tze.da.Kah H6666 , quietness הַשְׁקֵ֥ט hash.Ket H8252 and assurance for ever H5769 . 18 And my people עַמִּ֖י 'a.Mi H5971 shall dwell וְיָשַׁ֥ב ve.ya.Shav H3427 in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings וּֽבְמִשְׁכְּנוֹת֙ u.ve.mish.ke.nOt H4908 , and in quiet resting-places. 19 And it shall hail , coming H3381 down בְּרֶ֣דֶת be.Re.det H3381 on the forest הַיָּ֑עַר hai.Ya.'ar H3293 ; and the city הָעִֽיר׃ ha.'Ir H5892 shall be low תִּשְׁפַּ֥ל tish.Pal H8213 in a low H8213 place. 20 Blessed are ye that sow זֹרְעֵ֖י zo.re.'Ei H2232 beside all waters מָ֑יִם Ma.yim H4325 , that send H7971 forth H7971 the feet רֶֽגֶל־ re.gel- H7272 of the ox הַשּׁ֖וֹר ha.Shor H7794 and the ass. ← Isaiah 31 Isaiah 33 → Commentaries on Isaiah 32 Darby Bible — 1889 — Public Domain
