Deuteronomy 1:19-46 19 And we departed H5265 from Horeb מֵחֹרֵ֗ב me.cho.Rev H2722 and went H935 through all that great הַגָּדוֹל֩ ha.ga.dOl H1419 and terrible wilderness הַמִּדְבָּ֣ר ha.mid.Bar H4057 , which ye saw H7200 , on the way דֶּ֚רֶךְ De.rekh H1870 to the mountain H2022 of the Amorites H567 , as Jehovah our God אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ 'e.lo.Hei.nu H430 had commanded צִוָּ֛ה tzi.Vah H6680 us ; and we came H935 to Kadesh-barnea H6947 . 20 And I said H559 unto you , Ye are come בָּאתֶם֙ ba.Tem H935 unto the mountain H2022 of the Amorites H567 , which Jehovah our God אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ 'e.lo.Hei.nu H430 giveth us . 21 Behold , Jehovah thy God אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ 'e.lo.Hei.kha H430 hath set H5414 the land הָאָ֑רֶץ ha.'A.retz H776 before thee: go עֲלֵ֣ה 'a.Leh H5927 up , take רֵ֗שׁ Resh H3423 possession H3423 , as Jehovah the God אֱלֹהֵ֤י 'e.lo.Hei H430 of thy fathers H1 hath said H1696 unto thee; fear H3372 not , neither be dismayed תֵּחָֽת׃ te.Chat H2865 . 22 And ye came H935 near to me all of you , and said H559 , We will send נִשְׁלְחָ֤ה nish.le.Chah H7971 men H376 before us , who shall examine the land הָאָ֑רֶץ ha.'A.retz H776 for us , and bring H935 us word דָּבָ֔ר da.Var H1697 again of the way הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ ha.De.rekh H1870 by which we must go נָבֹ֖א na.Vo' H935 up , and of the cities הֶֽעָרִ֔ים he.'a.Rim H5892 to which we shall come H935 . 24 And they turned וַיִּפְנוּ֙ vai.yif.Nu H6437 and went H935 up into the mountain H2022 , and came H935 to the valley of Eshcol אֶשְׁכֹּ֑ל 'esh.Kol H812 , and searched it out . 25 And they took H3947 of the fruit מִפְּרִ֣י mi.pe.Ri H6529 of the land הָאָ֔רֶץ ha.'A.retz H776 in their hand בְיָדָם֙ ve.ya.Dam H3027 , and brought H7725 it down וַיּוֹרִ֖דוּ vai.yo.Ri.du H3381 unto us , and brought H7725 us answer , and said H559 , The land הָאָ֔רֶץ ha.'A.retz H776 is good טוֹבָ֣ה to.Vah H2896 that Jehovah our God אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ 'e.lo.Hei.nu H430 hath given נֹתֵ֥ן no.Ten H5414 us . 26 But ye would אֲבִיתֶ֖ם 'a.vi.Tem H14 not go לַעֲלֹ֑ת la.'a.Lot H5927 up , and rebelled H4784 against the word of Jehovah your God אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃ 'e.lo.hei.Khem H430 ; 27 and ye murmured in your tents בְאָהֳלֵיכֶם֙ ve.'o.ho.lei.Khem H168 , and said H559 , Because Jehovah hated us , he hath brought H3318 us forth H3318 out of the land מֵאֶ֣רֶץ me.'E.retz H776 of Egypt מִצְרָ֑יִם mitz.Ra.yim H4714 , to deliver us into the hand בְּיַ֥ד be.Yad H3027 of the Amorites H567 , to destroy לְהַשְׁמִידֵֽנוּ׃ le.hash.mi.De.nu H8045 us . 28 Whither shall we go H5927 up ? Our brethren have made our hearts לְבָבֵ֜נוּ le.va.Ve.nu H3824 melt הֵמַ֨סּוּ he.Ma.su H4549 , saying לֵאמֹ֗ר le.Mor H559 , [ They are ] a people עַ֣ם 'am H5971 greater H1419 and taller than we ; the cities עָרִ֛ים 'a.Rim H5892 are great H1419 and walled up to heaven בַּשָּׁמָ֑יִם ba.sha.Ma.yim H8064 ; and moreover we have seen H7200 the sons H1121 of the Anakim there . 30 Jehovah your God אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ 'e.lo.hei.Khem H430 who goeth before you , he will fight יִלָּחֵ֣ם yi.la.Chem H3898 for you , according to all that he did for you in Egypt בְּמִצְרַ֖יִם be.mitz.Ra.yim H4714 before your eyes לְעֵינֵיכֶֽם׃ le.'ei.nei.Khem H5869 ; 32 But In this thing וּבַדָּבָ֖ר u.va.da.Var H1697 ye did not believe H539 Jehovah your God אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃ 'e.lo.hei.Khem H430 , 33 who went H1980 in the way H1870 before you , to search you out a place מָק֖וֹם ma.Kom H4725 for your encamping, in fire בָּאֵ֣שׁ׀ ba.'Esh H784 by night לַ֗יְלָה Lay.lah H3915 , to shew you by what way H1870 ye should go H1980 , and in the cloud וּבֶעָנָ֖ן u.ve.'a.Nan H6051 by day יוֹמָֽם׃ yo.Mam H3119 . 34 And Jehovah heard H8085 the voice H6963 of your words דִּבְרֵיכֶ֑ם div.rei.Khem H1697 , and was wroth, and swore וַיִּשָּׁבַ֥ע vai.yi.sha.Va' H7650 , saying לֵאמֹֽר׃ le.Mor H559 , 35 None among these men H376 , this evil הָרָ֖ע ha.Ra' H7451 generation הַדּ֥וֹר ha.Dor H1755 , shall in any wise see יִרְאֶ֥ה yir.'Eh H7200 that good הַטּוֹבָ֔ה ha.to.Vah H2896 land הָאָ֣רֶץ ha.'A.retz H776 , which I swore H7650 to give לָתֵ֖ת la.Tet H5414 unto your fathers H1 ! 36 Except Caleb כָּלֵ֤ב ka.Lev H3612 the son H1121 of Jephunneh יְפֻנֶּה֙ ye.fu.Neh H3312 , he shall see יִרְאֶ֔נָּה yir.'E.nah H7200 it , and to him will I give אֶתֵּ֧ן 'e.Ten H5414 the land הָאָ֛רֶץ ha.'A.retz H776 that he hath trodden דָּֽרַךְ־ da.rakh- H1869 upon , and to his children , because he hath wholly followed Jehovah . 37 Also גַּם־ gam- H1571 Jehovah was angry הִתְאַנַּ֣ף hit.'a.Naf H599 with me on your account בִּגְלַלְכֶ֖ם big.lal.Khem H1558 , saying לֵאמֹ֑ר le.Mor H559 , Thou also גַּם־ gam- H1571 shalt not go תָבֹ֥א ta.Vo' H935 in thither. 38 Joshua יְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַ ye.ho.Shu.a' H3091 the son בִּן bin- H1121 of Nun נוּן֙ nun H5126 , who standeth before thee, he shall go יָ֣בֹא Ya.vo' H935 in thither: strengthen H2388 him , for he shall cause Israel יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Yis.ra.'El H3478 to inherit H5157 it . 39 And your little וְטַפְּכֶם֩ ve.ta.pe.Khem H2945 ones H2945 , of whom ye said H559 , They shall be H1961 a prey H957 , and your children , who this day הַיּוֹם֙ hai.yOm H3117 know יָדְע֤וּ ya.de.'U H3045 neither good ט֣וֹב Tov H2896 nor evil וָרָ֔ע va.Ra' H7451 , they shall go יָבֹ֣אוּ ya.Vo.'u H935 in thither, and unto them will I give אֶתְּנֶ֔נָּה 'et.te.Ne.nah H5414 it , and they shall possess H3423 it . 40 But ye, turn פְּנ֣וּ pe.Nu H6437 , and take your journey H1870 into the wilderness הַמִּדְבָּ֖רָה ha.mid.Ba.rah H4057 by the way דֶּ֥רֶךְ De.rekh H1870 of the Red sea יַם־ yam- H3220 . 41 — And ye answered and said H559 unto me , We have sinned H2398 against Jehovah , we will go נַעֲלֶה֙ na.'a.Leh H5927 up and fight וְנִלְחַ֔מְנוּ ve.nil.Cham.nu H3898 , according to all that Jehovah our God אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ 'e.lo.Hei.nu H430 hath commanded צִוָּ֖נוּ tzi.Va.nu H6680 us . And ye girded וַֽתַּחְגְּר֗וּ va.tach.ge.Ru H2296 on every man H376 his weapons כְּלֵ֣י ke.Lei H3627 of war מִלְחַמְתּ֔וֹ mil.cham.To H4421 , and ye would go לַעֲלֹ֥ת la.'a.Lot H5927 presumptuously up the hill הָהָֽרָה׃ ha.Ha.rah H2022 . 42 And Jehovah said H559 to me , Say H559 unto them , Go תַֽעֲלוּ֙ ta.'a.Lu H5927 not up , neither fight תִלָּ֣חֲמ֔וּ ti.La.cha.Mu H3898 ; for I am not among you ; lest ye be smitten before your enemies אֹיְבֵיכֶֽם׃ 'o.ye.vei.Khem H341 . 43 And I spoke H1696 unto you , but ye would not hear H8085 , and ye rebelled H4784 against the word of Jehovah , and acted H2102 presumptuously וַתָּזִ֖דוּ va.ta.Zi.du H2102 , and went H5927 up the hill הָהָֽרָה׃ ha.Ha.rah H2022 . 44 And the Amorite הָאֱמֹרִ֜י ha.'e.mo.Ri H567 that dwelt H3427 on that hill בָּהָ֤ר ba.Har H2022 came H3318 out against you , and chased you , like as bees הַדְּבֹרִ֑ים ha.de.vo.Rim H1682 do , and cut you in pieces in Seir בְּשֵׂעִ֖יר be.se.'Ir H8165 , as far as Hormah חָרְמָֽה׃ cha.re.Mah H2767 . 45 And ye returned וַתָּשֻׁ֥בוּ va.ta.Shu.vu H7725 and wept וַתִּבְכּ֖וּ va.tiv.Ku H1058 before Jehovah , but Jehovah would not listen שָׁמַ֤ע sha.Ma' H8085 to your voice בְּקֹ֣לְכֶ֔ם be.Ko.le.Khem H6963 , nor give H238 ear הֶאֱזִ֖ין he.'e.Zin H238 unto you . 46 And ye abode in Kadesh בְקָדֵ֖שׁ ve.ka.Desh H6946 many רַבִּ֑ים ra.Bim H7227 days יָמִ֣ים ya.Mim H3117 , according unto the days כַּיָּמִ֖ים kai.ya.Mim H3117 that ye abode [ there ].
