Deuteronomy 29:23-28
23AllH3605 its soilH776 will be a burning wasteH8316 of sulfurH1614 and saltH4417, unsownH3808H2232 and unproductiveH6779H3808, with noH3808 plantH6212 growingH5927 on itH3605, just like the destructionH4114 of SodomH5467 and GomorrahH6017, AdmahH126 and ZeboiimH6636, whichH834 the LORDH3068 overthrewH2015 in His fierce angerH639H2534.
24So allH3605 the nationsH1471 will askH559, ‘WhyH5921H4100 has the LORDH3068 doneH6213 such a thingH3602 to thisH2063 landH776? WhyH4100 thisH2088 greatH1419 outburstH2750 of angerH639?’
25And the people will answerH559, ‘It is becauseH5921 they abandonedH5800 the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of their fathersH1, whichH834 He madeH3772 with themH5973 when He broughtH3318 themH853 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 26They wentH1980 and servedH5647 otherH312 godsH430, and they worshipedH7812 godsH430 they had notH3808 knownH3045—gods that the LORD had notH3808 givenH2505 to them. 27Therefore the angerH639 of the LORDH3068 burnedH2734 against thisH1931 landH776, and He broughtH935 upon itH5921 everyH3605 curseH7045 writtenH3789 in thisH2088 bookH5612. 28The LORDH3068 uprooted themH5428 fromH5921 their landH127 in His angerH639, rageH2534, and greatH1419 wrathH7110, and He cast themH7993 intoH413 anotherH312 landH776, where they are todayH3117H2088.’
