Deuteronomy 23
Revised Version 1895
1He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut offH1540, shall notH3808 enter intoH1540 the assembly of the LORD. 2A bastard shall notH3808 enterH935 intoH935 the assemblyH6951 of the LORDH3068; evenH3808 to the tenth generation shall noneH3808 of his enterH935 intoH935 the assemblyH6951 of the LORDH3068. 3An Ammonite or a Moabite shall notH3808 enterH935 intoH935 the assemblyH6951 of the LORDH3068; evenH1571 to the tenthH6224 generationH1755 shall noneH3808 belonging to them enterH935 intoH935 the assemblyH6951 of the LORDH3068 for ever: 4because they met youH5704 notH3808 with bread and with water in the wayH5704, when ye cameH935 forth outH935 of Egypt; and because they hired againstH935 thee Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee. 5Nevertheless the LORD thy GodH3808 would notH3808 hearken unto BalaamH1109; but the LORD thy GodH3808 turned the curseH7043 intoH5921 a blessing unto thee, becauseH5921 the LORD thy GodH3808 loved thee. 6Thou shalt notH3808 seekH3808 their peaceH1293 norH3808 their prosperity all thy days for ever. 7Thou shalt notH3808 abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt notH3808 abhor an Egyptian; becauseH3117 thou wast a stranger in his land. 8The children of the third generation that are bornH3808 unto them shall enter intoH776 the assembly of the LORD. 9When thou goest forthH3205 in camp againstH935 thine enemies, then thou shalt keepH935 thee from everyH1755 evil thing. 10IfH3588 there be among youH3588 anyH3605 manH3605, that is notH3588 clean by reasonH1697 of that whichH1697 chanceth him by night, then shall he goH3318 abroad outH3318 of the campH4264, he shall notH3588 comeH3318 withinH5921 the campH4264: 11but it shall be, when eveningH3915 cometh on, he shall bathe himselfH413 in water: and when the sun is downH3588, he shall comeH935 withinH8432 the campH4264. 12Thou shalt have a placeH1961 also without the campH4264, whither thou shalt goH935 forth abroad: 13and thou shalt have a paddle among thy weapons; and it shall be, when thou sittest downH3027 abroadH2351, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turnH1961 backH3318 and cover that whichH8033 cometh from thee: 14for the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to giveH7725 upH5921 thine enemies beforeH5921 thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turnH7725 awayH7725 from thee. 15Thou shalt notH3808 deliverH5337 unto his masterH5414 a servant whichH1697 is escapedH5337 from his masterH5414 unto thee: 16he shall dwell with thee, in the midst of thee, in the place whichH834 he shall choose withinH5973 one of thy gates, whereH834 it liketh him best: thou shalt notH3808 oppress him. 17There shall be noH3808 harlot of the daughters of Israel, neitherH3808 shall there be a sodomite of the sons of Israel. 18Thou shalt notH3808 bringH1323 the hire of a whore, or the wages of a dog, intoH1961 the house of the LORD thy GodH3808 for anyH1961 vow: for evenH3808 both these are an abomination unto the LORD thy GodH3808. 19Thou shalt notH3808 lend uponH935 usury to thy brother; usury of moneyH868, usury of victuals, usury of anyH3605 thingH8441 that is lent uponH935 usury: 20unto a foreigner thou mayest lendH834 upon usury; but unto thy brotherH251 thou shalt notH3808 lendH834 upon usury: that the LORD thy GodH3808 may bless thee in allH3605 that thou puttest thine hand unto, in the land whither thou goest in to possess it. 21When thou shalt vowH3027 a vowH3027 unto the LORDH3068 thy GodH430, thou shalt notH3808 be slack to pay it: for the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 will surelyH834 require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee. 22But ifH3588 thou shalt forbear to vowH5088, it shall be noH3808 sinH2399 in thee. 23That which is goneH1961 out of thy lips thou shalt observe and do; according as thou hast vowedH5087 unto the LORD thy GodH3808, a freewill offering, which thou hast promisedH5087 with thy mouth. 24When thou comest intoH4161 thy neighbour’s vineyard, then thou mayest eat grapes thy fill at thine own pleasure; but thou shalt not putH6310 any in thy vessel. 25When thou comest intoH413 thy neighbour’s standing corn, then thou mayest pluck the ears with thine handH5414; but thou shalt notH3808 move a sickle unto thy neighbour’s standing corn.
